AFTERNOON R AC I N G T H U R S DAY 3 S E P T E M B E R 2026
Official Racecard - £3.50
The Jockey Club would like to thank our Group Partners for their support in 2026
WELCOME TO
Welcome to Haydock Park for Day One of the Betfair Sprint Cup Meeting – Thursday 3rd September It is a pleasure to welcome you to Haydock Park for the opening day of our Betfair Sprint Cup Meeting, one of the highlights of our Flat racing calendar. Over the next three days, Haydock Park will welcome some of the finest horses, trainers and jockeys in the sport, culminating on Saturday with the return of the prestigious Group 1 Betfair Sprint Cup. Today provides the perfect opportunity to begin what promises to be a fantastic weekend of racing, with competitive action across the card and plenty of anticipation building ahead of Saturday’s feature. Today is also an important day for us as a racecourse, as we remember a much-valued member of our facilities team, Chris Mulvanny, who recently sadly passed away. Chris was a well-liked and respected colleague who made a valuable contribution to Haydock Park, and his loss has been deeply felt by everyone who knew him. We will hold a moment of reflection at 12.30pm, before racing, to remember Chris and celebrate the contribution he made to our racecourse. I know you will join us in extending our thoughts and sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time. I would like to thank today’s sponsors — Racing TV, the European Breeders’ Fund, the Family of Jackie Harbridge and Bailey Partnership — for their valued support of today’s fixture. There is still limited availability for both tickets and hospitality across the Betfair Sprint Cup Meeting, including Saturday’s Group 1 feature. If you are yet to make plans for the weekend, I would encourage you to take advantage of the remaining opportunities to be part of one of the biggest fixtures in our calendar. Thank you for joining us today. I hope you enjoy an excellent afternoon of racing and the first day of what promises to be a memorable Betfair Sprint Cup Meeting. Simon Tonge General Manager
DON’T FORGET OUR NEXT MEETING Friday 4th September RACING WELFARE DAY Revel in a fabulous Friday of flat racing at Haydock Park. Friday’s action delivers a card packed with competitive racing, offering far more than just a warm-up for Saturday’s Betfair Sprint Cup.

Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

Providing your complete betting service today Betting with Tote is available across the racecourse with a wide range of pool bets offered. No need to fill out a betting slip, simply tell one of our friendly team members your bet type, horses and how much you would like to spend. Any bets placed with Tote on course today help support racing as our profits are returned to the racecourse where the bet is placed.
Placing a Win bet? We pay whichever is more, the Tote pool price or the official Starting Price. If the SP pays more than Tote, we match it - guaranteed.
Need help picking? Ask for a Lucky Pick and our smart formula will do the hard work for you. Available on any bet, any race, just tell us how much you want to spend. Try a Lucky Pick wallet which includes a bundle of bets giving you multiple chances to win. VETS SCREEN POLICY We have agreed with our vets that the screen should be erected, whenever a horse requires veterinary treatment on the course. This does not reflect the severity of an injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse.
EACH-WAY BETTING TERMS
Working alongside the Racecourse Association (RCA), bookmakers have introduced standard each-way betting terms across Jockey Club Racecourses. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting. Fewer than 3 runners: win bets only, no places offered 3 or 4 runners: all to win. None of these can be ruled out but the upwardly-mobile HOSEKI didn’t enjoy the rub of the green when a very good fourth at Ascot last time and is fancied to quickly resume winning ways. Gemma Tutty’s Star Cast seems sure to go well in her bid for a remarkable seventh success of 2026, while Polygram and Hollywell Stream are other in-form fillies who can also play a prominent role here. HBLB PRIZE MONEY The Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) has allocated £77.1m in prize money for 2026. Since 2000 HBLB has invested £1.5bn in prize money to support the British horseracing industry.
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
