The Jockey Club would like to thank our Group Partners for their support in 2026
WELCOME TO
Hello and a very warm welcome to Haydock Park for Betfair Sprint Cup Day. It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Haydock Park for the culmination of our Betfair Sprint Cup Meeting and the most important day of our flat season. The Group 1 Betfair Sprint Cup is one of the great prizes in British sprinting and has a history befitting its status. Over the years, the roll of honour has included some of the very best sprinters to grace the British turf, including Dayjur, Oasis Dream, Battaash and Harry Angel. Today, another generation of elite sprinters will have the opportunity to write their names into the history of this prestigious race. This year’s meeting also provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the career of Bow Echo, who has recently been retired following an outstanding campaign. Having won the 2025 Ascendant Stakes here at Haydock Park, Bow Echo went on to achieve Group 1 success this season in the 2,000 Guineas, St James’s Palace Stakes and Sussex Stakes. It is a tremendous achievement, and we are delighted that this year’s Ascendant Stakes has been named in his honour, providing a fitting reminder of the special horses who have raced and succeeded here at Haydock Park. I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Betfair and the Hong Kong Jockey Club for their valued support of today’s fixture. Today is also a landmark occasion for Haydock Park as we host our first World Pool fixture. World Pool brings together betting pools from participating racing jurisdictions around the world, allowing customers to bet into a single, larger pool on selected races. For Haydock Park, becoming part of World Pool represents an exciting opportunity to showcase our racing to an international audience, increase global engagement with our feature races and further enhance the profile of the Betfair Sprint Cup. As part of today’s World Pool activity, we will also be recognising the people behind the horses through the World Pool Moment of the Day. The winning stable groom will receive a fantastic £4,000 prize, providing an opportunity to celebrate the dedication and hard work of the people who play such an important role behind the scenes in racing. We will next race on Friday 25th & Saturday 26th September, followed by another fixture on Friday 16th October, before we begin the transition towards our winter Jump season. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to making this year’s Betfair Sprint Cup Meeting possible — our sponsors and partners, owners, trainers, jockeys, stable staff, officials and, of course, our dedicated Haydock Park team. Most importantly, thank you to you, our racegoers, for joining us today. I hope you enjoy a memorable afternoon of world-class racing and that we can celebrate another outstanding winner of the Betfair Sprint Cup. Simon Tonge General Manager
DON’T FORGET OUR NEXT MEETING Friday 25th September EVERTON IN THE COMMUNITY CHARITY RACEDAY There’s no better way to kick off the weekend than with an exciting afternoon of sport, socialising, and top-tier Flat racing in a stunning setting.

A Champion Bows Out: Saluting Bow Echo
As Bow Echo retires from racing, we take the opportunity to recognise a horse who provided plenty of memorable moments during his career. His victory at Haydock Park last September in the now named in his honour, the Ascendant Stakes, was among the highlights, showcasing his consistency and determination on a track that clearly suited him well. He leaves the sport on a remarkable unbeaten run, a testament to his quality and the dedication of the team behind him. In a game where success is never guaranteed, to retire without tasting defeat in his final sequence of races is an achievement to be proud of. We congratulate all connections and wish Bow Echo a long, healthy and happy retirement. He will be remembered with great affection by everyone who followed his career.

GALILEAN QUALITY shaped notably well in sustaining his run from a long way back when runner-up in the Melrose at York a fortnight ago and still looks on good mark following a 5lb rise. Asia Force, a stablemate of the selection, immediately showed the benefit of a gelding operation when a dominant winner at Carlisle and could have more to offer, with Bridge of Eagles also of interest upped markedly in trip. HBLB PRIZE MONEY The Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) has allocated £77.1m in prize money for 2026. Since 2000 HBLB has invested £1.5bn in prize money to support the British horseracing industry.
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
