WELCOME TO
Hello and a very warm welcome to Haydock Park Racecourse for our special Oktoberfest Raceday. It is a pleasure to welcome you all for the second of two days of racing this weekend, and we hope you’re ready for a fantastic afternoon of racing, entertainment and a little Oktoberfest spirit! Today’s fixture promises to be a great day out, with seven races on the card, live Oompah music throughout the afternoon, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the very best of the Oktoberfest experience here at Haydock Park. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has joined us today and our race sponsors – William Hill and J&P Civil Engineering. Your support is much appreciated, and we wish you all a wonderful day with us. We’d also like to thank all the owners and trainers who have chosen to run their horses here with us today, and take the chance to wish you all the best of luck this afternoon. Away from the racing, we hope you’ll make the most of everything else on offer, from the live music to our selection of German beers and Oktoberfest-inspired food around site. Don’t forget, if you’re looking for an easy way to get back to the station after racing, our Haydock Park Shuttle Bus will be operating, providing a convenient and affordable service to and from Newton-le-Willows station, with a single ticket costing just £3. Finally, I’d like to wish you all a fantastic day here at Haydock Park. Thank you for joining us, enjoy the racing, enjoy the Oktoberfest celebrations, and most importantly, have a wonderful afternoon. Simon Tonge General Manager

A quick way to see a horse’s past performance. These are its recent finishing positions.
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
Look out for Letters: C D CD BF
= Has won at this course = Has won over this distance = Has won over this distance at this course = Was a beaten favourite
MORE INFORMATION ON THE FORM / P F U R CO B S r
= New racing season = Missed racing season = Was pulled-up and didn’t finish the race = Horse fell = Rider unseated = Horse refused to race = The horse was forced out of a race by a loose horse = Horse was brought down = Horse slipped = The horse ran around a jump or took the wrong course in a flat race = Disqualified
d Bold form figures = performance in all-weather (Flat) or Point-to-Point (Jump) races

2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse. 3. Timeform view and TFR rating 4. HORSE’S TRAINER & THEIR LOCATION
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race. 5. JOCKEYS Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day. OTHER USEFUL DETAILS 6. Owner’s colours worn by the Jockey 7. Saddlecloth number 8. Horse’s name & Country of birth 9. Days since the horse last run 10. Horse’s age 11. Jockey’s weight (stone and lbs) 12. The horse’s breeding – father (sire) and mother (dam) 13. Horse’s owner 14. Horse’s breeder 15. Draw – position of the horse in the starting stalls
BETTING EXPLAINED Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

A WALK IN MEMORY. A JOURNEY FOR A CAUSE. From 19–27 September, racing commentator John Hunt, his daughter Amy and her fiancé Gareth will take on a 120-mile walk from Bushey to Bournemouth to raise funds and awareness for The Hunt Family Fund. The Fund was created by John and Amy following the devastating loss of Carol, Louise and Hannah Hunt in July 2024. From unimaginable grief, they wanted to create something positive that celebrated their lives and supported causes close to their hearts. Working with the Hertfordshire Community Foundation, the Fund supports a range of causes including tackling male violence against women, empowering women, animal welfare, vision loss and supporting the elderly.

VETS SCREEN POLICY We have agreed with our vets that the screen should be erected, whenever a horse requires veterinary treatment on the course. This does not reflect the severity of an injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse.

HBLB PRIZE MONEY The Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) has allocated £77.1m in prize money for 2026. Since 2000 HBLB has invested £1.5bn in prize money to support the British horseracing industry.
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
