1. FORM EXPERTVIEW

Welcome to all our Annual Members for our opening day of the flat season here at Haydock Park.

Today sees the £45,000 added Unibet Handicap, run over 7 furlongs, and with an impressive field to boot. English Oak looked for all the world a pattern class individual when winning at Royal Ascot last year and bids to make his first start a winning one of 2025 Dangers abound, with the progressive Yorkshire for the upwardly mobile Bethell yard and it promises to be a cracker.

A high octane flat programme awaits us here at Haydock Park this summer with, in date order, the following races to look forward to: the Temple Stakes, the John of Gaunt, the Lancashire Oaks, the Old Newton Cup, the Rose of Lancaster Stakes and finally the Sprint Cup However, we are not quite done with the jumps yet, given the Swinton Hurdle is just two weeks away

Today we have two boxes for your viewing pleasure as well as all other usual amenities.

It’s been a pleasure to see so many of you at our various reciprocals up and down the country; Easter Monday sees our annual jaunt to Fakenham, a lovely racecourse to attend given the clement weather forecast

We have reciprocals coming up at a variety of racecourses I am delighted that for the first time in living memory a classic has been included, namely the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket. All Haydock Park members can get free admission to this fantastic race in just eight days and it would be wonderful to see the sunny uplands of Suffolk festooned with Haydock Park members

I hope you have a wonderful and successful days racing, and I hope to see you all today.

RAHIEBB had created quite a big impression when making a winning debut at Newcastle so is worth another chance to defy a penalty having still looked green when runner-up back there 5 weeks ago This does look a warm maiden, though, with likely improvers Opportunity and Antrim heading the dangers.

A huge field but it’s hard to ignore the claims of MAELSTROM, who proved a different proposition switchedto a handicap atYarmouth onTuesday and appeals as thetype who could go on and rack up a sequence. Gesundheit is a half-brother to a useful type and he’s fancied to get involved on return/yard debut, with Vault of Heaven and Lord Capulet another couple worth considering, too.

RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
