Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race.
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.

I’d
like to welcome all our Annual Members to Betfred Temple Stakes Day at Haydock Park.
The Temple is a fantastic test of exceptionally quick equine talent Previous winners of this contest include Dayjur, Lochsong, Sole Power and the great Battaash Today’s field looks thoroughly competitive and hopefully we see a performance to match the aforementioned brilliance of those already named. First run in 1965 and at Sandown Park for many years, the Betfred Temple Stakes is a precursor to a long-established pattern of five furlong high class races throughout the season, with the Kings Stand, King George Stakes and Nunthorpe all on the agenda for some of the horses running today.
The supporting card consisting of the Sandy Lane and Silver Bowl is likely to give us Royal Ascot clues with the classic generation represented in both races The former has been afforded Group 2 status since 2015 and the race has consequently flourished. As befits a day of this esteemed calibre, ITV Racing are basing themselves here today.
At your disposal today is the usual menagerie of facilities mentioned at your disposal from your reserved seating area to private boxes to view today’s action
As is usual at this time of year, the action comes thick and fast at Haydock Park in the forthcoming weeks with the John of Gaunt Stakes coming up in just a week The flat season crescendos with the Sprint Cup in early September and has now really taken off The ground staff have done an exceptional job is such a dry spring and it is to their credit that conditions look ideal for sprint racing today.
We have reciprocal action coming up thick and fast over the next few weeks, with our ever-popular Cartmel reciprocal this coming Bank Holiday Monday A truly unique course, with one of the shortest circuits and longest run-ins in the country and a superb array of entertainment for all the family, it is one not to miss
I hope you have an enjoyable and successful afternoons racing and look forward to seeing many of you through the day.

The Jockey Club would like to thank our Group Partners for their support in 2025

BLUE FOR YOU: Following its run on 15/5/2025 it was reported that the horse was unsuited by the pace early-on.
DASHING DARCEY: Following its run on 29/3/2025 it was reported that the horse was denied a clear run. BEYLERBEYI: Following its run on 15/5/2025 it was reported that the horse was slowly away.
Probable S.P’s: 4-1 Great Chieftain (IRE), 13-2 No Retreat (IRE), 17-2 Candonomore (FR), 10-1 Theoryofeverything (GB), 11-1 Blue For You (IRE), 12-1 Asteverdi (GB), 14-1 Lattam (IRE), 16-1 Kindest Nation (IRE), Empirestateofmind (IRE), 18-1 Local Hero (IRE), 22-1 Dashing Darcey (GB), 25-1 Thunder Roar (GB), 50-1 Storm Catcher (IRE), 66-1 Beylerbeyi (GB)
PLAY SMARTER
It was a taking performance that GREAT CHIEFTAIN delivered at Newmarket and a 6lb rise is unlikely to prevent him from following up if in a similar mood. He is clearly very effective on fast ground, whereas several of these are evidently more potent when the mud is flying Dashing Darcey and the hat-trick seeking Candonomore have no questions to answer conditions-wise and they both make each-way appeal, while No Retreat is also accorded respect on his debut forthe George Scott yard

Charlie Appleby’s DIAMOND RAIN enjoyed a good first season in 2024 and is fancied to make a winning return with few miles still on the clock and further progress very much on the cards. Ambiente Amigo could emerge as the chief threat for the ever-impressive James Owen yard, although Running Lion has the form to play a major part if on her A-game and stablemate Place of Safety appeals as another likely improver this term and needs considering too.

A good renewal of this Group 2. It’s a quick turnaround for SYMBOL OF HONOUR after his Newbury Listed success last weekend but he did that comfortably and it’ll require a smart performance to beat him if in similar form. Arizona Blaze was a clear winner of a French Group 3 last month and is second choice ahead of the exciting Powerful Glory, who came a long way in a short time at 2.
Whatever you’re celebrating – a birthday, anniversary or engagement; family gathering or garden party, we’ve got a broad range of unusual, awe-inspiring and spacious facilities for you to choose from. Suretohavetightened up (hewas carrying condition) forthat outing, he’s fully expected to record another win on his way to the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot American Affair and Electric Storm may be the two to follow him home.

Having got in lightly ahead of his 3-y-o campaign, MAELSTORM has justified short odds both starts and his latest 6lb rise may not be enough to prevent the hat-trick. Persian Spirit has also been in winning form recently and she’s a threat, with Andalprofit one to consider at longer odds back over 6f
We have agreed with our vets that the screen should be erected, whenever a horse requires veterinary treatment on the course. This does not reflect the severity of an injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse.
Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse.

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
