SATURDAY 19 JULY 2025

SATURDAY 19 JULY 2025
On behalf of the team at Haydock Park Racecourse we would like to extend a very warm welcome to you this evening.
We are set for a fantastic evening of both music and racing, with a number of exciting flat races taking place tonight, in addition to some outstanding music being performed throughout the evening. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome this evening’s sponsors – MB Health and Racing TV. I would like to thank them all for their generosity and wish them all an enjoyable evening.
Throughout the evening there will be the music from DJ Nathan Ellis performing on the Makerfield Lawn which is located at the rear of the Makerfield Stand. For music-lovers, we have a number of upcoming racedays that feature live music performances
On Friday 8th August we have a fixture which features a performance from Becky Hill after racing along with a DJ playing after racing on Betfred Rose of Lancaster Ladies Day. Both racedays are popular choices within our raceday calendar and are perfect places to bring both friends and family for an incredible day out.
We hope you have an enjoyable evening here with us, making the most of the racing, music, food and drink on offer. I would like to wish the best of luck to all trainers, jockeys and owners with their runners tonight and I am sure will be getting a big cheer when they cross the finish line.
Best of luck and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Simon Tonge General Manager

Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race.
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.

I am delighted to welcome all our Annual Badgeholders to what is a very pleasant evening at Haydock Park.
It has been so gratifying to see horses who have run at Haydock Park this year performing so well subsequently, particularly in the sprinting/ division The July Cup 1-2 had both run here earlier in 2025 as well as the King Charles III Stakes victor American Affair Haydock Park is a bedrock for quality in the sprinting division and it is not too long until the Sprint Cup, our Group 1 finale.
I’m sure all members remember the day eight years ago when Steve Yarborough tragically lost his life here Tonight’s race named in his honour is a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to racing.
We race again Thursday to Saturday in 3 weeks’ time, on Betfred Rose of Lancaster Saturday there is an opportunity for our lady members to dress to impress on our traditional Ladies Day.
Prior to then, we have a tantalising triumvirate of reciprocal fixtures at Uttoxeter, Windsor and Newmarket’s July Course in a fortnight. I am delighted to tell you we are busy planning next year’s reciprocal list also!
I hope you have an enjoyable and successful evenings racing.

PLAY SMARTER
ALWAYS A STAR was a bit too free to be able to build on his Yarmouth run (which is proving to be a tidy piece of form) at Chelmsford last time and he should be up to winning from this sort of mark. Solanna should be in the mix again, while Unplugged showed he still has plenty to offer when scoring at Pontefract.

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
