FRIDAY 5 SEPTEMBER 2025

FRIDAY 5 SEPTEMBER 2025
The team at Haydock Park Racecourse are delighted to welcome you to our Racing Welfare Charity Raceday on day two of our Betfair Sprint Cup Celebration.
I would like to give a warm welcome to the sponsors of today’s races – Racing Welfare, Betfair, Arete Foundation, The European Breeders Fund, M Group NW Ltd & Oakmere Homes.
If you weren’t already aware, Racing Welfare is the charity that supports the workforce of British horseracing – offering help to everyone who works in the sport, from stud and stable staff to jockeys, racecourse teams, and those who have retired. The charity provides a wide range of services, including mental health and wellbeing support, financial advice, housing assistance, and practical help in times of need Racing Welfare is here to ensure that no one in the racing industry faces life’s challenges alone, and their support is available 24/7 through their dedicated helpline and online resources.
We are delighted to be hosting the Racing Welfare Charity Raceday with their charity fundraising lunch taking place in the Park Suite today. Details of how you can support the charity and get involved will be in the following pages and on the big screen throughout the day.
Looking ahead, we are incredibly excited about the Group One Betfair Sprint Cup returning tomorrow. It is a race that looks brimming with quality and highly competitive, so I hope it is in your plans to join us again tomorrow! Sadly hospitality is sold out at this point but tickets for tomorrow are still available from our website or by popping into racecourse office
As you will see by the current state of the ground, our grounds team have been working tirelessly to produce a fantastic surface in what has been a challenging climate. I would like to thank them for their hard work along with the office team who have done a phenomenal job given the volume of racedays and events we have had over the summer months
Best of luck to all connected with horses today and we wish you a fabulous afternoon here at Haydock Park Racecourse.
Simon Tonge General Manager

2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race.
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.

Look out for the charity Racing to School today; you shouldn’t miss them as they will be leading a group of local pupils and their teachers through every corner of the racecourse for an action-packed day of fun challenges and discovery. The charity works nationwide with over 250 schools, and this year will reach around 16,000 young people – at UK racecourses, trainers’yards and studs.
They deliver free, outdoor activity days to support the learning and to boost the self-confidence of children aged nine and above. Racing to School uses racing venues as unique, fast-moving classrooms full of opportunities to practise and improve subjects like maths, literacy and problem-solving.
The charity is only able to support young people’s education through the kind donations it receives. Please scan this QR code to donate, if you can.
British Stallion Studs have contributed nearly £2MILLION to Flat and National Hunt prize money during 2025 via the British EBF.

Probable S.P’s: 5-1 Glory Fighter (GB), 11-2 Zarzyni (IRE), 7-1 Alligator Alley (GB), Taygar (IRE), 12-1 Hedge Fund (IRE), 14-1 Monks Dream (IRE), 18-1 King of Bears (IRE), Changeofmind (IRE), Wen Moon (IRE), 20-1 Phoenix of Dreams (IRE), 25-1 Arnhem (IRE), 33-1 Noel Fox (IRE), Hyperfocus (IRE), 40-1 Parisiac (IRE)
ZARZYNI is on a good mark and his latest Beverley nearmiss suggests he’s back in the sort of form to take advantage. Monks Dream is better than recent form figures suggest and is a possible threat. Taygar arrives on the back of a good effort at Ayr, while Hedge Fund has been given time since disappointing on his first start for Mick Appleby and remains one who could do well for his new yard

PLAY SMARTER
This is wide open but the verdict goes to SECRETMISTRALwho can boast a C&D victory this year and wasn’t seen to ideal effect here last time out. Pixie Diva is feared most on the back of a good second at Newcastle, with Vince L’Amour, Spoof and Copper Knight all in the picture too.

Despite the presence of three promising once-raced fillies, newcomers LIGHTNING POLKA, Vencedora and Karvala are taken to come to the fore in this novice. Ed Walker’s 2-y-os usually come on for a run but Lightning Polka is sufficiently appealing on paper to earn the vote It goes without saying that the betting will be potentially instructive. Yorkshire Queen shaped well when runner-up on debut at Musselburgh and she could be the pick of those with experience.

Stewards Note:
MOSTAR DREAMS: Following its run on 21/8/2025 it was reported that the horse was denied a clear run.
Probable S.P’s: 4-1 Ata Rangi (IRE), 9-2 Quest For Fun (GB), 6-1 Sixtygeesbaby (IRE), 10-1 Mostar Dreams (IRE), 11-1 Bishop’s Crown (GB), 12-1 Arctic Thunder (IRE), Catalyse (IRE), 18-1 Candonomore (FR), 22-1 Persuasion (IRE), We Dare To Dream (IRE), Liamarty Dreams (GB), 50-1 Lexington Belle (IRE)
ATA RANGI rates the pick at these weights on the back of an excellent second in a big-field York handicap so looks the way to go Quest For Fun did well to dead-heat at the same track last time and is next on the list, although the likes of Mostar Dreams, Catalyse and Bishop’s Crown all command plenty of respect too. Last year’s winner Persuasion completes the shortlist.
You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet. If you cannot produce this, your bet will not be accepted.

This could go the way of Ed Walker’s INTO BATTLE who has slipped in the weights to a good mark and should find this step up in distance very much to his benefit having come in sixth over 1m at Pontefract last time. Course scorer Afloat didn’t enjoy the rub of the green when a recent sixth at Windsor and could emerge as the main danger, while handicap debutant Gnomon and in-form duo It’s A Love Thing and Rogue Sea also need factoring in.

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
