Hello and a very warm welcome to Haydock Park Racecourse for our Everton in the Community Charity Raceday. It is a pleasure to welcome you all here today for the first of two days of racing this weekend, with a fantastic afternoon of sporting action ahead. We are delighted to be partnering with Everton in the Community for today’s fixture, giving us the opportunity to highlight the fantastic work they do across the region and the positive impact they have on so many lives. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting this important cause, and in particular, those who have shown their support by sponsoring and naming one of the seven races on today’s card - PMJ Capital, Ashlar Construction, Christopher Ward Watchmaking, Turf Services and Boddingtons. I would also like to thank the owners and trainers who have chosen to run their horses here at Haydock Park today. Your continued support is hugely appreciated. After today’s fixture, we have another fantastic day of racing and entertainment in store tomorrow, with our special Oktoberfest fixture, featuring live Oompah music throughout the day. We’ll also be embracing the full Oktoberfest spirit, with refreshing German beer available in double-pint servings, alongside a delicious selection of themed food. There is still availability for both tickets and hospitality tomorrow, so if you’re yet to make plans for the rest of the weekend, we’d love to welcome you back for what promises to be another great afternoon. Don’t forget, if you’re looking for an easy way to get back to the station after racing today, our Haydock Park Shuttle Bus will be operating, providing a convenient and affordable service to and from Newton-le-Willows station, with a single ticket costing just £3. RCA Groundstaff Award Presentation for Karl Coghlin Karl Coghlin, Estates Manager at Haydock Park Racecourse, has been awarded the prestigious RCA Groundstaff Merit Award following a competitive nomination process in 2025. Strong endorsements from leading trainers Karl Burke, William Haggas, Dan Skelton, Venetia Williams and Harry Derham highlighted Karl’s professionalism, expertise and dedication, helping secure this well-deserved recognition. A proud local, Karl also celebrates five years at Haydock Park this year, having joined the racecourse following a successful career with Wigan Council. During that time, he has become an integral and highly respected member of the team, playing a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of the racing surfaces and wider racecourse estate. Through his leadership of the groundstaff team, Karl has been central to the delivery of consistently high-quality racing surfaces across both Flat and Jump fixtures, ensuring Haydock Park continues to uphold its reputation as one of Britain’s premier racecourses. His commitment to excellence, attention to detail and extensive technical knowledge have contributed significantly to the safe, fair and competitive racing conditions enjoyed by owners, trainers, jockeys and racegoers alike. A WALK IN MEMORY. A JOURNEY FOR A CAUSE. From 19–27 September, racing commentator John Hunt, his daughter Amy and her fiancé Gareth will take on a 120-mile walk from Bushey to Bournemouth to raise funds and awareness for The Hunt Family Fund. The Fund was created by John and Amy following the devastating loss of Carol, Louise and Hannah Hunt in July 2024. From unimaginable grief, they wanted to create something positive that celebrated their lives and supported causes close to their hearts. Working with the Hertfordshire Community Foundation, the Fund supports a range of causes including tackling male violence against women, empowering women, animal welfare, vision loss and supporting the elderly.

VETS SCREEN POLICY We have agreed with our vets that the screen should be erected, whenever a horse requires veterinary treatment on the course. This does not reflect the severity of an injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse.
