The Jockey Club would like to thank our Group Partners for their support in 2026
Welcome to Haydock Park for Macmillan Charity Raceday – Friday 22nd May.
It is a pleasure to welcome you to Haydock Park for our Macmillan Charity Raceday, an afternoon that combines competitive racing with the opportunity to support an organisation whose work makes a tremendous difference to so many people and families across the country. We would like to thank our sponsors, Oakmere Homes and Newsells Park Stud for their support and hope they and their guests have a successful day.
Macmillan Cancer Support continues to provide vital care, guidance, and practical support to those affected by cancer, helping people navigate some of life’s most challenging moments. We are proud to support the charity through today’s fixture and encourage all racegoers to get involved with the fundraising and awareness activities taking place around the racecourse throughout the afternoon. Every contribution, large or small, helps support the outstanding work carried out by Macmillan every single day.
At Haydock Park, we are fortunate to work alongside a number of exceptional charitable organisations across the season, and we are already looking ahead to our upcoming Racing Welfare Charity Raceday on Friday 4th September, supporting the industry’s own dedicated charity, as well as the recently announced Everton in the Community Charity Raceday on Friday 25th September. Both fixtures promise to be special occasions and further opportunities for racing to make a positive impact beyond the racecourse and we hope to welcome you back to both racedays
We are also delighted to race again tomorrow for Temple Stakes Day, one of the highlights of our Flat season Featuring both the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes and the Group 2 Temple Stakes, the card promises an exciting afternoon of high-quality racing and an opportunity to see some of the sport’s leading Sprinters in action here at Haydock Park.
As always, our team has worked hard to ensure a welcoming and enjoyable raceday experience for all visitors, and I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to making today possible
Thank you for joining us and for supporting such an important cause. I hope you enjoy an excellent afternoon of racing
Simon Tonge General Manager

Macmillan Cancer Support does whatever it takes for people living with cancer.
When you hear the word cancer, we know it can disrupt your whole life. And it can be made worse simply because of who you are or where you live. In the UK, someone is diagnosed with cancer at least every 75 seconds.
In North West England, there are over 285,000 people living with cancer If you live in Liverpool, Knowsley, or Manchester, you are more likely to die from cancer before the age of 80 than someone in almost any other area of England.
Macmillan is determined to do whatever it takes to ensure every person living with cancer has the best support today and spark a revolution in cancer care for the future.
But our services are only possible with the support of people like you. We rely on voluntary donations for over 90% of our income to make sure our services can be there for people with cancer and their loved ones.
We hope you enjoy your day at the races, and please consider giving generously to Macmillan through taking part in the raffle, silent auction or by donating.

VETS SCREEN POLICY
We have agreed with our vets that the screen should be erected, whenever a horse requires veterinary treatment on the course. This does not reflect the severity of an injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse. HBLB PRIZE MONEY
The Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) has allocated £77.1m in prize money for 2026 Since 2000 HBLB has invested £1.5bn in prize money to support the British horseracing industry
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
