I’d like to welcome all our Annual Members to Betfred Temple Stakes Day at Haydock Park.
The Temple is a fantastic test of exceptionally quick equine talent. Previous winners of this contest include Dayjur, Lochsong, Sole Power and the great Battaash Today’sfieldlooksthoroughlycompetitiveandhopefully we see a performance to match the aforementioned brilliance of those already named First run in 1965 and at Sandown Park for many years, the Betfred Temple Stakes is a precursor to a long-established pattern of five furlong high class races throughout the season, with the Kings Stand, King George Stakes and Nunthorpe all on the agenda for some of the horses running today.
The supporting card consisting of the Sandy Lane and Silver Bowl is likely to give us Royal Ascot clues with the classic generation represented in both races The former has been afforded Group 2 status since 2015 and the race has consequently flourished. As befits a day of this esteemed calibre, ITV Racing are basing themselves here today
At your disposal today is the usual menagerie of facilities mentioned at your disposal from your reserved seating area to private boxes to view today’s action
As is usual at this time of year, the action comes thick and fast at Haydock Park in the forthcoming weeks with the John of Gaunt Stakes coming up in just a fortnight. The flat season crescendos with the Sprint Cup in early September.
We have reciprocal action coming up thick and fast over the next few weeks, with our ever-popular Cartmel reciprocal this coming Bank Holiday Monday A truly unique course, with one of the shortest circuits and longest run-ins in the country and a superb array of entertainment for all the family, it is one not to miss
I hope you have an enjoyable and successful afternoons racing and look forward to seeing many of you through the day.

CANDONOMORE built on the promise he’d shown at 2 yrs when easily opening his account in a maiden here last month and very much strikes as the type to go on progressing given his physique, so he’s an appealing candidate The form of Volterra’s Newmarket win has already been franked bythe runner-up and he looks sureto improve further, with Blue Lemons completing the shortlist.

METABOLT: Following its run on 8/5/2024 it was reported that the horse lost a shoe.
Probable S.P’s: 5-2 English Oak (GB), 4-1 Zip (GB), 5-1 Metabolt (GB), 6-1 Baldomero (IRE), 8-1 Persuasion (IRE), 10-1 Sterling Knight (GB), 16-1 Abduction (FR)
ENGLISH OAK comes here easily the least exposed and following an encouraging comeback run when second at Newmarket 3 weeks ago, he could well be the wayto go with the prospect of more to come. Metabolt with a reappearance spin under his belt is a danger, as is Baldomero who deservedly got his head back in front at Goodwood earlier this month. Zip is another to factor in if granted his own way on the front end.
Working alongside the Racecourse Association (RCA), bookmakers have introduced standard each-way betting terms across Jockey Club Racecourses. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
