CODE OF CONDUCT
As part of our joint commitment to each other and the communities in which we operate, all racegoers should be aware of the Code of Conduct and observe the following whilst at our Racecourse. For the safety of other racegoers and racecourse staff, please consider wearing a face covering in busy indoor areas or outside where social distancing cannot be maintained. If you feel you may be experiencing any of the recognised symptoms of Covid-19, please put on a face covering and speak to a member of staff in a well ventilated area. It is best to travel home if it is safe to do so. Regularly wash your hands, use hand sanitiser and avoid touching your face and dispose of any used tissues appropriately. Familiarise yourself with your entry point and the location of amenities within the racecourse. We are operating a cashless event. On-course bookmakers/pool betting operators may accept cash. Enjoy the vast amounts of space around the racecourse and avoid congregating in busy areas (for example, along the rail or by the Winning Post). Make sure all walkways, corridors and doorways etc are clear before you walk through. Follow all signage and the instructions of staff, officials or any emergency service personnel present at the racecourse. Make sure other members of your group have read and understood these guidelines. Thank you so much for your continued support and co-operation. We hope you have a wonderful day with us.

ANNUAL
MEMBERS NEWSLETTER
Welcome to all our Annual Members for another National Hunt Season at Haydock Park. The Betfair Chase is our highlight in the jumping calendar and has once again served up a race to savour. It’s twelve years since Kauto Star won the Betfair Chase for a fourth time in a day those present will never forget. His trainer, Paul Nicholls, also responsible for two-time winner Silviniaco Conti, runs King George winner and Gold Cup runner-up Bravemansgame. Protektorat is a doughty opponent who won the race with such supreme verve last year. Throw in the Grand National Winner Corach Rambler and it really is a race to savour. Whetting the appetite for the Betfair is a graded novice hurdle, a graded staying handicap hurdle and a graduation chase. We also have a smorgasbord of exclusive amenities for members today, from a designated seating area to two viewing boxes high up in the County Stand. Work has been ongoing since the Summer for our 2024 Annual Badgeholder offering. An abridged reciprocal fixture list is available in the members bar and it gives me pleasure to announce that two viewing boxes will be available at every fixture in 2024. We also have our Festive Luncheon on the 30th December, with gastronomic delights available for our membership. Should you wish to attend, kindly note this is a pre-booked event only and numbers are limited. Today really is a joyous occasion and I wish you an enjoyable and successful afternoon’s racing.

KAMSINAS built on his impressive hurdling debut success when runner-up in a Cheltenham Grade 2 last month, so is the obvious choice with further progress on the cards. Bowenspark has hinted on more than one occasion that he isn’t totally straightforward, but he clearly possesses plenty of PLAY SMARTER ability and ought to make his presence felt up in grade, while Primoz shouldn’t be taken lightly either having shown lots of speed when making a winning hurdling debut at Ayr 3 weeks ago. ROBINSFIRTH
Haydock Park’s Retraining of Racehorses Ambassador RoR is British Horseracing’s official charity for the welfare of horses that have retired from racing. The charity promotes the versatility and adaptability of racehorses for other equestrian activities following their retirement from racing. The Horses for Courses scheme showcases the wide range of disciplines that racehorses go on to enjoy after their racing careers have ended, providing racegoers with an ongoing opportunity to meet and learn more about racing’s biggest stars – the horses!
Robinsfirth’s owner Jennifer says: ‘Robin has become a favourite in our yard and is an absolute gent to be around. We started doing some in-hand classes at local shows together and he took it all in his stride and we even came away with a few rosettes. He had a very successful racing career around the country, even winning the trial for the Grand National at Haydock Park back in 2019. I keep in touch with his previous owners and send them regular updates on his progress and what we are up to. They are very proud that he was chosen to be the RoR ambassador for Haydock Park and are pleased he now has his forever home.’

The 2021 victor and subsequent Gold Cup winner A Plus Tard was making his seasonal reappearance in last year’s renewal and defeat looked out of the question as the Irish-raider was sent off the 1-2 favourite. But for whatever reason, he failed to live up to expectations being pulled-up before the third last. Protektorat had been a well-held third to the favourite at Cheltenham but the Dan Skelton-trained gelding took full advantage to record a second Grade 1 victory. Under Harry Skelton he travelled strongly and jumped well throughout to win by 11L from Eldorado Allen in second and a further 7 1/2L to Frodon back in third. SELECTION The Gold Cup runner-up Bravemansgame should take all of the beating but Protektorat will ensure he doesn’t get things all his own way.

HBLB PRIZE MONEY The Horserace Betting Levy Board prize fund schemes provide for the estimated inclusion of £776,829 in ratecard and incremental prize money at this racecourse from September to December 2023.
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
