Hello and welcome to Haydock Park for an evening of great racing.
Today is the first of two days of racing this weekend, with a fantastic afternoon lined-up tomorrow with the John of Gaunt Stakes Day.
The action this evening will get underway at 6.10pm while the last runners and riders will go down to the start at 9pm. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank GPW Recruitment, who are kindly supporting racing today
we wish them a wonderful time here with us.
As mentioned earlier, we’ll be back again tomorrow with a seven-race card getting underway at 1.50pm and featuring the John of Gaunt Stakes at 3.35pm. The race was named after John of Gaunt, the 1st Duke of Lancaster who lived in the 14th Century, and we’re hoping for a fantastic renewal this year Previous winners include Warningford, Main Aim and Pogo.
We have some super racing and entertainment planned over the coming weeks and months, including our famous Newton Cup Festival, which will take place between Thursday the 6th and Saturday the 8th of July. These three days of racing not only attract some of the best equine stars in the sport, but also provide the perfect opportunity to socialise with family and friends Each day offers something unique and a chance to enjoy the action from different parts of the racecourse
To find out more, please head over to our website for information and tickets –www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/haydock
For now, I wish you all a wonderful day with us and hope to welcome you back very soon
Warm wishes,

As part of our joint commitment to each other and the communities in which we operate, all racegoers should be aware of the Code of Conduct and observe the following whilst at our Racecourse.
For the safety of other racegoers and racecourse staff, please consider wearing a face covering in busy indoor areas or outside where social distancing cannot be maintained.
If you feel you may be experiencing any of the recognised symptoms of Covid-19, please put on a face covering and speak to a member of staff in a well ventilated area. It is best to travel home if it is safe to do so
Regularly wash your hands, use hand sanitiser and avoid touching your face and dispose of any used tissues appropriately.
Familiarise yourself with your entry point and the location of amenities within the racecourse.
We are operating a cashless event. On-course bookmakers/pool betting operators may accept cash
Enjoy the vast amounts of space around the racecourse and avoid congregating in busy areas (for example, along the rail or by the Winning Post).
Make sure all walkways, corridors and doorways etc are clear before you walk through.
Follow all signage and the instructions of staff, officials or any emergency service personnel present at the racecourse.
Make sure other members of your group have read and understood these guidelines.
Thank you so much for your continued support and co-operation
We hope you have a wonderful day with us

Having shaped well on his previous outing, ABATE resumed winning ways in good style at Hamilton 9 days ago and he can score again in his current form. Dark Side Thunder has also been going through a good spell of late and can give the selection most to think about, while Asadjumeirah is an interesting contender off his career-low mark.

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
