OPENER
FLAT SEASON
HelloandaverywarmwelcomebacktoHaydockParkforthisyear’s Flat Season Opener!
The start of the flat season signals that summer is well and truly on its way and we have so much planned over the coming weeks that we’re really excited about, and it all starts right here today
I’d just like to take this opportunity to reflect on the last few months and some of the amazing racing we have hosted throughout the Jumps season From the Betfair Chase back in November, which was spectacularly won by Protektorat, to Grand National Trials Day and the retirement of Haydock Park legend Bristol De Mai, it has been a truly sensational winter Thanks to each and every one of you for continuing to support us
This afternoon’s first race will get underway at 1.30pm with The Giants Hall Handicap Stakes, with the last runners and riders going to post at 4.55pm. As always, I’d like to thank all of those who are supporting racing today, including Darley Stallions and Racing TV We wish all of them a wonderful day with us.
After today, we next race on May 13th with the Pertemps Swinton Hurdle Day, a rare fixture which combines races both on the flat and over jumps. This event well and truly marks the end of our Jumps season here, before we’re full steam ahead towards all things flat racing
Another date for your diary is June 24th, when the legendary Craig David will be performing live from the racecourse – we really can’t wait The chart-topping sensation will take to the stage after an afternoon of action unfolds on the turf and it promises to be a day to remember. Later in the summer on August 11, Nile Rogers and Chic will be joining us too!
To find out more about everything we have going on over the coming months and to secure your tickets, visit www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/haydockpark For now, I wish you all a wonderful day with us
Warm wishes,
Molly Dingwall General Manager

Familiarise yourself with your entry point and the location of amenities within the racecourse.
We are operating a cashless event. On-course bookmakers/pool betting operators may accept cash

Follow all signage and the instructions of staff, officials or any emergency service personnel present at the racecourse.
Make sure other members of your group have read and understood these guidelines.

Thunder Max has been absent for the best part of a year but he too returns to action on an appealing mark and will be a danger to all if readyto roll.Tele Red did well last season and should have a part to play, while Innse Gall is also shortlisted on the back of a solid reappearance effort on the all-weather

PAPA COCKTAIL moved through the race stylishly before edging a tight finish at Southwell recently and he’s worth a chance to follow up after a small rise. Mega Marvel is in good order and looks a danger, while With Respect remains well treated if he turns up in the same mood that saw him score at Southwell 86 days ago

IMPORTANT NOTICES
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
