Good morning and welcome back to
Haydock Park for our first
and feature jump fixture of the season!
The Betfair Chase is back and we couldn’t be more excited for an afternoon of fantastic racing Every year we look forward to this day one where we get to host the country’s first Grade One of the season in a race which promises to produce a thriller A Plus Tard, the winner of last year’s race and just months later the Cheltenham Gold Cup, is expected to face a small but mighty field of up to four rivals as he bids to win the extended three miles and a furlong showpiece for the second year running Protektorat, trained by the in-form Dan Skelton and ridden by his brother Harry, is another favourite to take the title while three-time winner of the race Bristol de Mai will also line up in a bid to win a fourth Betfair Chase.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Betfair, who are very kindly supporting all of the races on today’s card, along with the stable staff canteen We wish them and their guests a wonderful day with us.
I’m also delighted to welcome the Haydock Band back to keep you all entertained throughout the morning
While racing officially gets underway at 12.10pm, Betfair have organised a special event at 11.30am, which will see six horses take to the track in five-furlong sprint in celebration of the forthcoming Football World Cup. It’s bound to be a lot of fun and I encourage you all to make your way trackside for this novelty race Very kindly, Betfair will also be donating £10,000 to the Injured Jockey’s Fund
If you are a first time racegoer or a frequent racegoer you may want to head over to the parade ring at 11:40 where there will be a punters panel with some experts running through the card and giving their tips for the day.
After today we race again on November 30, with the Jewson Christmas Afternoon Jump Racing fixture followed by the Tommy Whittle Chase Day on December 17 The Last Fling, which will take place on Friday 30 December, will bring racing for 2022 at Haydock Park to a close I know today is going to be a great spectacle, and I’d like to thank you all for coming out to be a part of our feature fixture of the year it really means a lot!
Have a great day and we hope to see you all again very soon
wishes, Molly Dingwall General Manager

Racehorse & Jockey Welfare
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
