WELCOME Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to Hamilton Park for our Well-Man Cars Community Raceday, the first of two great days of racing here at Hamilton Park, followed tomorrow by our Jordan Electrics Glasgow Stakes Centenary Racenight where £165,200 of prize money will be up for grabs, making it the richest racing being staged anywhere in the UK tomorrow. History is also being made across these two fixtures as we celebrate our 100-year centenary of racing being staged here on Bothwell Road, with today falling exactly 100 years after our very first fixture in 1926. We have a wonderful History of Hamilton Park exhibition on display in the Parade Ring Marquee including some of our historic trophies so do take the time to pop in and have a look and also enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and cake courtesy of our partners at Well-Man Cars. Today also marks the return of our annual community raceday where we have reached out to care homes, charities, out of school clubs and social groups in the local area to give them the opportunity to enjoy a day of racing here at Hamilton Park with our compliments. We’re immensely proud to be a part of the community here in Hamilton and the team are committed to supporting local causes in any way we can. We have lots of activities, performances and workshops for you all to enjoy so please do take the time to explore what’s on offer around the grounds. A special thank you to South Lanarkshire Leisure & Culture, We Love Hamilton, Racing to School and the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service who are all supporting today’s activities, as well as today’s race sponsors The European Breeders Fund, the family of Alex McWilliams, Racing TV, Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park, and of course our title sponsors Well-Man Cars. I hope you and your guests have a most enjoyable experience with us today. We also welcome Racing TV subscribers who join us today for their annual Club Day. Racing TV is our dedicated racing channel and is available online and on Sky channel 424. It’s owned by the racecourses, and they play a big part in helping us deliver each and every event to screens across the UK and beyond, and most importantly returning profits back into racing for the good of the sport. If you’ve not tried it yet, then why not download Racing TV’s free mobile app for a taste of their service featuring all of today’s races with all of the latest tips. On the track today we’re sure to see some excellent racing across the card. The 3.25pm feature race, the Class 2 Well-Man Cars Private Hire Almada Mile Handicap, looks like a competitive renewal with six highly rated horses set to contest the race for the Watson Memorial Cup. Salam Dubawi, trained by Jim Goldie, comes into this race having won over course and distance back in May, whilst English Oak is at the top of the weights for Hamad Al Jehani, who has trained two winners from two career runners here to date. I wish all this afternoon’s runners and riders the very best of luck. We are back racing again tomorrow for our Jordan Electrics Glasgow Stakes Centenary Racenight where as well as the fantastic racing action, we’ll be joined by the incredible Tide lines, who will be performing a full set once the on-track action has concluded. Tomorrow evening also features our highest-grade race of the season, the British Stallion Studs EBF Glasgow Listed Stakes which has been targeted by some of Britain’s leading trainers. With runners from the yards of John & Thady Gosden, James Fanshawe and Andrew Balding to name a few, we are sure to see another high-quality contest following Nahraan’s win by a nose last year under British Champion Jockey Oisin Murphy. Gates open at 3.30pm with the first of seven races due off at 5.30pm. Tickets are available online until midday tomorrow or at the gate, so I hope to see some of you back with us again as we celebrate this significant milestone in our history. Have a great afternoon and be lucky! Kind regards

ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR

Sir Ian Good Memorial Sculpture

Commissioned in 2026 to mark Hamilton Park’s 100th year of racing, this memorial sculpture honours the late Sir Ian Good in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Hamilton Park, Scottish Racing, and the racing industry as a whole. Sir Ian served on the Board from 1990 and as Chairman from 1999 until his passing in 2023. Under his leadership, Hamilton Park developed into one of the UK’s leading independent racecourses, including the addition of the on-site Hampton by Hilton hotel in 2019. He also played a key role nationally as founding Chairman of Scottish Racing, and held senior positions with the Racing Foundation, the Tote, and the Jockey Club. In collaboration with the Good family, the sculpture has been created by renowned sculptor Michael Turner who specialises in creating unique, handcrafted artwork using marine grade stainless steel. With the working title of ‘A Dynamic Force’, each individual panel of stainless steel has been shaped by hand to create a sculpture that embodies the energy and excitement of horse racing, showcasing the power and grace of the horse in motion alongside the unique harmony that exists between horse and jockey. Located between the Hampton by Hilton Hotel and the Sir Ian Good Grandstand, this sculpture stands as a lasting tribute to his vision, leadership, and legacy. The design includes subtle tributes to Sir Ian’s life and legacy, so please do visit the sculpture to see them for yourself. 12

THE BRITISH STALLIONS STUDS EBF NURSERY HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) (A HAMILTON PARK 2-Y-O SERIES QUALIFIER) RACE DESCRIPTION

A nursery is a handicap that is restricted to two-year-olds only. In order to be allowed to take part, entrants must have already run in three maiden or novice races, or have won two races, which then qualifies them for an official handicap rating based on what they have achieved so far. Quite simply, the higher their rating, the bigger the weight they have to carry. This particular five furlong race is for horses which have been rated from 0 to 85 which are EBF eligible.

THE WELLMAN CARS HAMILTON HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) RACE DESCRIPTION

FOR THREE YRS OLD AND UPWARDS NUMBER OF DECLARED RUNNERS 8

RACE STATISTICS

Clare & Frank Welsh, owners of Wellman Cars have very kindly sponsored this race and will present a memento to the winning owner. In addition, they will present a cash prize to the person in charge of the horse judged to be the best turned out. Owners Prize Money. Winner £2890; Second £1446; Third £722; Fourth £361; Fifth £181. (Penalty Value £3663.80)

This is a five furlong handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 60. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

Third Race

2.50p.m. THE ALEX MCWILLIAMS MEMORIAL CELEBRATIONS RESTRICTED NOVICE STAKES (CLASS 5) (FOR HORSES IN BANDS B, C AND D) (GBB RACE) RACE DESCRIPTION

This contest is a Novice Stakes, run over a distance of one mile and half a furlong. There are a variety of reasons why the horses in this race are still light on experience. Stoutly bred horses are unlikely to be seen at their best over the shorter distances of their juvenile season whilst a setback or injury can curtail even the most precociously bred horse’s two-year-old career.

Fourth Race

3.25p.m.

THE WELLMAN CARS PRIVATE HIRE ALMADA MILE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 2) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a one mile and half a furlong handicap race for threeyear-olds and upwards which have been rated from 81 to 100. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap. In simple terms a horse rated 100 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 95.

RACE STATISTICS

Leading course trainer (20-25): J Goldie (75 wins from 520 runners, 14%) runs SALAM DUBAWI Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): E Bethell (9 wins from 31 runners, 29%) runs NOELAN STAR Weightwatcher: RHOSCOLYN won off a handicap mark of 97, his rating is now down 5lb to 92. RACE SUMMARY: I’LL BE BACK took his tally to 2-2 despite still looking a shade rough around the edges on return at Leicester in April and with that form having worked out extremely well, Karl Burke’s 3-y-o is fancied to maintain his unbeaten record sent down the handicap route. This is the weakest race English Oak has contested in a while, so he heads up the opposition, with Rhoscolyn rounding out the shortlist. 1-2-3: 1.I’LL BE BACK (IRE) 2.ENGLISH OAK 3.RHOSCOLYN

This is a one mile and half a furlong handicap race for fouryear-olds and upwards which have been rated from 66 to 85. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 6lb.

This is a six furlong handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 55. Like most handicaps on the flat this race is also open to horses that are rated below that particular band. However, all handicaps stipulate a minimum weight and no runner can carry less than that, irrespective of how low their rating is. This is often described as ‘running from out of the handicap’ and is considered a disadvantage.
