WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to our Horsepower in the Park Raceday, the first of two fantastic days of racing here at Hamilton Park as we enter the final furlong of our 100-year centenary season. My thanks go to all of today’s sponsors – the European Breeders Fund, Siobhan Reilly & the family of Brian Reilly, Heineken, Molton Brown, The Family & Friends of Drew Hunter, Racing TV and our very own Hampton By Hilton Hamilton Park. Your sponsorship is very much appreciated and enables us to be able to continue to offer the record levels of prize money available this season as well as invest in the overall development of the racecourse. We also welcome students from across the central belt of Scotland who join us today, many for the first time, through the Invades initiative. I hope all of our valued partners and guests here with us this afternoon have a great time. We’ve got seven competitive races scheduled this afternoon with today’s feature race, the Big Drew Hunter Memorial Handicap due off at 4pm. This is a Class 4 contest over a mile, with three of today’s twelve runners holding wins over course and distance, whilst a further six of the field hold wins over the same trip. The Hugo Palmer-trained Lucky Camino and Matter of Britain, who is trained by David O’Meara, are the most recent Hamilton winners in the field having both won on their last outings here in July and August respectively. Empire of Light is at the top of the weights for Grant Tuer, whilst Monoceros (Iain Jardine) and Maximising (Kevin Philippart De Foy) come into this contest with winning form. We’re also delighted to be welcoming Billy Loughnane for his first visit to Hamilton Park this season as he closes in on his first Jockey’s Championship. Billy has four rides here this afternoon and will no doubt be looking to extend his lead over Oisin Murphy in the championship standings. I would like to thank our Owner’s and Trainer’s for choosing to run their horses here this afternoon and for their continued support of our race programme - I wish all of today’s connections, runners, and riders the very best of luck. In keeping with today’s ‘horsepower’ theme, we have a fantastic selection of classic, vintage and modern classic vehicles displayed around the grounds thanks to the Lanarkshire Classic Car Club, giving us all the chance to get up close to an incredible range of vehicles and chat with passionate owners and enthusiasts. We also have range of stunning supercars on show with Ferrari’s, Porsche’s, and Lamborghini’s all on display courtesy of our friends at Sytner Group, so do take the time to explore some of these dream cars. We’re back racing again tomorrow with our Racing TV Raceday with gates opening at 12noon and the first race due off at 1.43pm. It’s not too late to grab a discounted ticket to join us tomorrow so I do hope to see some of you again. Tickets are available at www.hamilton-park.co.uk and as always under 18s get FREE admission. Have a great day and I hope you back a winner or two. Kind regards
ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR

Do not be put off by the weird terms you may hear on the racetrack. Like any traveller in a strange country, the novice racegoer will soon pick up a smattering of the language, and then rapidly become fluent. Sir Ian Good Memorial Sculpture
Commissioned in 2026 to mark Hamilton Park’s 100th year of racing, this memorial sculpture honours the late Sir Ian Good in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Hamilton Park, Scottish Racing, and the racing industry as a whole. Sir Ian served on the Board from 1990 and as Chairman from 1999 until his passing in 2023. Under his leadership, Hamilton Park developed into one of the UK’s leading independent racecourses, including the addition of the on-site Hampton by Hilton hotel in 2019. He also played a key role nationally as founding Chairman of Scottish Racing, and held senior positions with the Racing Foundation, the Tote, and the Jockey Club. In collaboration with the Good family, the sculpture has been created by renowned sculptor Michael Turner who specialises in creating unique, handcrafted artwork using marine grade stainless steel. With the working title of ‘A Dynamic Force’, each individual panel of stainless steel has been shaped by hand to create a sculpture that embodies the energy and excitement of horse racing, showcasing the power and grace of the horse in motion alongside the unique harmony that exists between horse and jockey. Located between the Hampton by Hilton Hotel and the Sir Ian Good Grandstand, this sculpture stands as a lasting tribute to his vision, leadership, and legacy. The design includes subtle tributes to Sir Ian’s life and legacy, so please do visit the sculpture to see them for yourself. 10

THE WEE BRIAN REILLY MEMORIAL EBF RESTRICTED MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 4) (FOR HORSES IN BANDS C AND D) (EBF RESTRICTED RACE QUALIFIER) (GBB/GBBPLUS RACE) RACE DESCRIPTION
This race is a one mile maiden stakes for two-year-olds. Maiden races provide a starting point for young horses that are yet to record a victory and most will be very lightly-raced or be making their racecourse debuts. Previous experience can count for a lot when searching for the winner but well-bred or precocious juveniles are more than capable of landing the prize at the first time of asking.

THE HAMILTON PARK NURSERY HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) RACE DESCRIPTION
A nursery is a handicap that is restricted to two-year-olds only. In order to be allowed to take part, entrants must have already run in three maiden or novice races, or have won two races, which then qualifies them for an official handicap rating based on what they have achieved so far. Quite simply, the higher their rating, the bigger the weight they have to carry. This particular five furlongs race is for horses which have been rated from 0 to 75.

about FIVE FURLONGS (5f abt 7yds) (1000m)
Third Race
3.00pm
THE HEINEKEN ZERO DRINK RESPONSIBLY AT HAMILTON PARK HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a five furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 60. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

THE MOLTON BROWN LUXURY FRAGRANCE FILLIES’ HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a six furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards fillies and mares only which have been rated from 61 to 80. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap. In simple terms a horse rated 75 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 70.

THE BIG DREW HUNTER MEMORIAL HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a one mile handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 66 to 85. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 6lb.

This is a one mile and one furlong handicap race for threeyear-olds and upwards which have been rated from 51 to 70. Like most handicaps on the flat this race is also open to horses that are rated below that particular band. However, all handicaps stipulate a minimum weight and no runner can carry less than that, irrespective of how low their rating is. This is often described as ‘running from out of the handicap’ and is considered a disadvantage.

Seventh Race

THE HAMPTON BY HILTON HAMILTON PARK HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) FOR THREE YRS OLD AND UPWARDS NUMBER OF DECLARED RUNNERS 9
RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a one mile and four furlongs handicap race for threeyear-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 65. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap. In simple terms a horse rated 65 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 60.
