Joe & Donna McCallum
WELCOME A very warm welcome to our Jordan Electrics Glasgow Stakes Centenary Racenight – one of our richest racing nights of the year with a card worth £165,200 and featuring our highest-grade race of the year, the British Stallion Studs EBF Glasgow Listed Stakes which is being run for increased prize money of £80,000 for the first time. History is being made this evening as we celebrate our 100-year centenary of racing being staged here on Bothwell Road, with tonight’s fixture mirroring our first ever raceday on a Friday afternoon 100 years ago. We have a wonderful History of Hamilton Park exhibition on display in the Parade Ring Marquee including some of our historic trophies so do take the time to pop in and have a look between races. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Hamilton Park team for their efforts in preparing for our centenary celebrations. A big thank you to our title sponsors this evening, Carfin-based Jordan Electrics Limited, who are a family-owned local business with extensive experience in Domestic, Commercial, Industrial and Retail electrical installations as well as being active racehorse owners. Their aptly named horse Jordan Electrics is due to contest this evening’s Scottish Stewards’ Cup having won the same race in 2024 as one of his nine course victories. We would also like to thank the European Breeders Fund who support our race programme so much all year including tonight’s Glasgow Stakes as well as Joe & Donna McCallum and Karen, Crawford and Laura MacGregor and our very own Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park hotel. I hope you and all your guests have a great time here with us tonight. We have a competitive field for the Jordan Electrics Scottish Stewards’ Cup, which is a fast and furious sprint over 6f at 7.15pm. The race reflects the famous Stewards’ Cup which is run each year during the Glorious Goodwood Festival and the winner of our Scottish version often goes on to run well in the Goodwood race. Two of this evening’s field hold early entries for the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood and I’m sure will be looking to impress here this evening. These include the Richard & Peter Fahey-trained Strike Red who won over course and distance here in 2021 and then went on to finish second in last year’s Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood. Ferrous is at the top of the weights for trainer Jack Channon and also holds a Goodwood entry, whilst there are four other course and distance winners amongst tonight’s field with Jim Goldie’s Gangsta Man the most recent Hamilton Park winner at the end of June. This year’s running of the Glasgow Listed Stakes is at 7.50pm and is the richest flat race staged in Britain today, and we are delighted to have a high-quality field for this year’s renewal with some of the UK’s leading Trainers represented. Superior Choice is likely to be well backed for John & Thady Gosden and comes into this contest having won on each of his last two outings, whilst Mr Colonel is the highest rated horse in the race. Andrew Balding has once again targeted this race with Prizeland having won the Glasgow Stakes for the first time in 2024 with Kalpana. James Fanshawe’s Plaid is the only runner in the field to hold a win here at Hamilton Park having taken victory over the shorter distance of 1m 1f at our Sky Bet Sunday Series fixture back in May. I wish all of tonight’s runners and riders the very best of luck. Once the racing action has finished we’ll be joined by the fantastic Scottish band Tide Lines, who will take to the stage after the last race, so do stay on and enjoy the show until bars close at 10.45pm. We have a couple of weeks without racing before we open our gates for our ever-popular Cube Glass Ladies’ Night on Saturday 1 August. As ever demand for tickets is high, so head to www.hamilton-park.co.uk to secure your tickets for our biggest night of the year! Have a wonderful evening and I hope you back a winner or two! Kind regards
ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR

Sir Ian Good Memorial Sculpture
Commissioned in 2026 to mark Hamilton Park’s 100th year of racing, this memorial sculpture honours the late Sir Ian Good in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Hamilton Park, Scottish Racing, and the racing industry as a whole. Sir Ian served on the Board from 1990 and as Chairman from 1999 until his passing in 2023. Under his leadership, Hamilton Park developed into one of the UK’s leading independent racecourses, including the addition of the on-site Hampton by Hilton hotel in 2019. He also played a key role nationally as founding Chairman of Scottish Racing, and held senior positions with the Racing Foundation, the Tote, and the Jockey Club. In collaboration with the Good family, the sculpture has been created by renowned sculptor Michael Turner who specialises in creating unique, handcrafted artwork using marine grade stainless steel. With the working title of ‘A Dynamic Force’, each individual panel of stainless steel has been shaped by hand to create a sculpture that embodies the energy and excitement of horse racing, showcasing the power and grace of the horse in motion alongside the unique harmony that exists between horse and jockey. Located between the Hampton by Hilton Hotel and the Sir Ian Good Grandstand, this sculpture stands as a lasting tribute to his vision, leadership, and legacy. The design includes subtle tributes to Sir Ian’s life and legacy, so please do visit the sculpture to see them for yourself. 10

THE JOE MAC’S BIG RETIREMENT BASH HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) (GBBPLUS RACE) RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a one mile and four furlongs handicap race for three-yearolds and upwards which have been rated from 66 to 85. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

This race is a six furlong maiden stakes for two-year-olds. Maiden races provide a starting point for young horses that are yet to record a victory and most will be very lightly-raced or be making their racecourse debuts. Previous experience can count for a lot when searching for the winner but well-bred or precocious juveniles are more than capable of landing the prize at the first time of asking. THE HAMISH MACGREGOR MEMORIAL NURSERY HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) RACE DESCRIPTION
A nursery is a handicap that is restricted to two-year-olds only. In order to be allowed to take part, entrants must have already run in three maiden or novice races, or have won two races, which then qualifies them for an official handicap rating based on what they have achieved so far. Quite simply, the higher their rating, the bigger the weight they have to carry. This particular six furlong race is for horses which have been rated from 0 to 75.

This is a six furlong handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 81 to 100. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap. In simple terms a horse rated 100 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 95.
Leading course trainer (20-25): J Goldie (75 wins from 516 runners, 15%) runs GANGSTA MAN & JORDAN ELECTRICS Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): T Easterby (6 wins from 71 runners, 8%) runs MANILA SCOUSE Longest Traveller: FERROUS trained by J Channon, West Ilsley, 367 miles.
BETTING FORECAST: 7-2 Sir Garfield (IRE), 4-1 Manila Scouse (GB),
6-1 Gangsta Man (IRE), 13-2 Strike Red (IRE), 9-1 Jordan Electrics (GB), 10-1 Ferrous (IRE), 12-1 Commanche Falls (GB), 14-1 Saint Lawrence (IRE)
RACE SUMMARY: GANGSTA MAN impressed when coming from last to first to get off the mark for Jim Goldie here last time and can make light of a 4lb rise to thwart the handilyweighted Sir Garfield, who rates a big threat in his bid to go 3-3 this season. Recent Ayr scorer Manila Scouse, along with veteran Strike Red, can also have a say in an intriguing Scottish Stewards’ Cup.

This one mile and three furlongs contest for three-year-olds is a Listed race; a race that can only be bettered by a Group 1, 2 or 3 race. Many of the runners in this race will have already shown themselves to be talented and this race provides a perfect medium for them to be tested against a better class of rival before making the jump into a Group race. Initially, the weights are set at 9st 7lb for colts and geldings and 9st 2lb for fillies before penalties are awarded to horses that have previously won above a certain level – 3lb for a Listed race victory or 5lb for a Group 3 success. Sixth Race
8.25p.m. THE HAMILTON PARK CELEBRATES 100 YEARS OF RACING HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4)
RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a five furlong handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 61 to 80. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 6lb.

RACE STATISTICS
Fiona Murdoch, Hotel Managing Director & Group Finance Manager will present a memento to the winning owner. In addition, they will present a cash prize to the person in charge of the horse judged to be the best turned out in this race. Owners Prize Money. Winner £3303; Second £1652; Third £826; Fourth £413; Fifth £206. (Penalty Value £4187.20)
This is a one mile and about 68 yards handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 51 to 70. Like most handicaps on the flat this race is also open to horses that are rated below that particular band. However, all handicaps stipulate a minimum weight and no runner can carry less than that, irrespective of how low their rating is. This is often described as ‘running from out of the handicap’ and is considered a disadvantage.
