A warm welcome to Greenversity Saints & Sinners Racenight, one of the most famous nights in the Scottish racing calendar. It’s always one of our favourite meetings of the season with a competitive seven race card, fundraising for some extremely worthwhile causes as well as some great entertainment after racing from our partners at Go Radio.
Our thanks go to all of tonight’s sponsors – The European Breeders Fund, Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park, Patersons of Greenoakhill, PDM Buildbase, Ecosave Installations, and of course our title sponsors Greenversity I hope you and your guests have a wonderful evening with us.
This evening’s racing gets underway at 5.45pm with the Greenversity Saints & Sinners Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap for the Saints & Sinners Challenge Cup, which is a stunning piece of silverware. We have an intriguing field for this years’ race including the Jim Goldie-trained Tafsir for Owners Summerstorm Bloodstock who has performed well at Hamilton Park having won here last July as well as being placed on three other occasions. The Dancing Poet is the highest rated runner in the field and I’m sure Brian Ellison will be looking to build on previous wins at Musselburgh and most recently Catterick earlier this month.
Our feature race, the Class 3 Patersons of Greenoakhill Handicap at 7.45pm, looks a competitive contest with four course and distance winners set to go to post amongst the field of eight. The everpopular Jordan Electrics holds five career wins here at Hamilton Park, most recently on the 12 June and was beaten by a neck at Ayr last week. Mutamanni is at the top of the weights for trainer George Boughey and has won on his last two outings at Leicester and Brighton earlier this month, with James Doyle taking the ride this evening fresh from riding four winners at Royal Ascot including the Norfolk Stakes.
As we all know, tonight is not all about the racing. The Saints & Sinners Club of Scotland work throughout the year to raise funds for small, people-based Scottish charities. Their fundraising takes an enormous amount of work and we at Hamilton Park are proud to make our contribution to their efforts this evening. In addition to a donation made from every ticket purchased for this evening, funds raised from the sale of red and white carnations will go to the charity so please do pick one up from the sellers at the entrances.
Details of other ways of supporting Saints & Sinners are featured in tonight’s racecard including a Silent Auction with some fantastic prizes up for grabs, as well as our annual Sign-a-Note raffle Entering couldn’t be easier – simply place £10 in one of the envelopes available around the course and pass it to one of the team.
Do make sure you stay on after racing tonight where we’ll see Go Radio DJ Zoe Kelly take to the decks for a set full of dance and club anthems in the Parade Ring Marquee to close out the evening.
Have a great night and I hope you back a winner or two.
Kind regards,
ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR
Good evening and welcome to the annual Saints & Sinners Club of Scotland race meeting. As always, it is great to be back here at our home at Hamilton Park to enjoy the evening’s racing and raise funds for the charity with a proper crowd once again.
The Club raises funds to distribute annually to small Scottish charities and the yearly grant from the Club is the difference that enable many to carry on their work. The loss of the race meeting and reduced attendances during the pandemic was a significant blow to our fundraising, however our reserves enabled us to continue to support 104 charities last year, with £130,000 issued in grants. Being here tonight and the contribution it makes to our fundraising is a tremendous help to maintain that level of giving, which is even more important in these challenging times.
I’d like to thank Ashley, Katie and all the team here at Hamilton for their continued support. I hope you have a great night, back a few winners and on behalf of the whole Club, I’d like to thank you too for coming this evening and supporting our efforts; it is much appreciated.

ONE MILE about FIVE FURLONGS (13f abt 16yds) (2600m) 5.45pm
This is a one mile and five furlongs handicap race for fouryear-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 55. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

This race is a five furlongs maiden stakes for two-year-old fillies only Maiden races provide a starting point for young horses that are yet to record a victory and most will be very lightly-raced or be making their racecourse debuts. Previous experience can count for a lot when searching for the winner but well-bred or precocious juveniles are more than capable of landing the prize at the first time of asking.

RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a five furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 62. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap In simple terms a horse rated 60 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 55.

about FIVE FURLONGS (5f abt 7yds) (1000m) 7.15pm
RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a five furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 71 to 90. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 6lb
RACE STATISTICS

ONE MILE about THREE FURLONGS (11f abt 15yds) (2200m)
RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a one mile and three furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards fillies and mares only which have been rated from 49 to 68. Like most handicaps on the flat this race is also open to horses that are rated below that particular band. However, all handicaps stipulate a minimum weight and no runner can carry less than that, irrespective of how low their rating is. This is often described as ‘running from out of the handicap’ and is considered a disadvantage
