Good afternoon and welcome to Hamilton Park for our Allstone Group Scottish Trophy Racenight, where we have some excellent racing ahead of us throughout the evening.
A huge thank you to our new title sponsor this evening, Allstone Group, who are one of Scotland’s leading suppliers of soils and aggregates. Your sponsorship is very much appreciated and enables us to enrich our prize money on offer tonight. We would also like to thank The European Breeders Fund who support our race programme so much all year, as well as our very own on-site Hampton by Hilton Hotel. The hotel bar is open and accessible to all racegoers during and after our racedays, so please do pay them a visit if you’d like a drink or two throughout the evening. I hope you and your guests have a great time here with us tonight.
Today’s feature race, the Allstone Group Scottish Trophy Handicap Stakes at 7.40pm worth £25,000, has a competitive field having been targeted by trainers from Newmarket, Yorkshire and of course Scotland and it is sure to be a highlight of the evening. Shine on Brendan returns to Hamilton Park after securing a successful win at our Boe Ladies Night fixture, ridden by Ben Curtis, however he’ll be up against Dubawi Warrior for Newmarket trainer William Haggas, who will be looking to follow up on a recent win at Pontefract, whilst local trainer Daragh Bourke will be hoping to continue his winning streak with Gainsbourg, who has had two back to back wins at Ayr Racecourse
It’s just eleven days until our last Friday evening race meeting of the season, the Phoenix Utilities Lanark Silver Bell on Friday 25 August, which became the richest race in Hamilton Park history in 2022 when it was upgraded to a Heritage Handicap worth £100,000. We’ve upgraded this year’s fixture to make it our richest ever raceday with total prize money set to exceed £212,000. We also see the welcome return of legendary DJ George Bowie and his GBX Anthems, who will be taking to the stage after the racing action has finished. If you haven’t got your tickets yet there are still some on sale at www.hamilton-park.co.uk.
It’s set to be a historic night, and one not to be missed!
Have a wonderful evening and I hope you back some winners!
Kind regards,

about FIVE FURLONGS (5f abt 7yds) (1000m)
RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a five furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 56 to 75. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. This race is for apprentice jockeys only who have not ridden more than 10 winners under the Rules of Racing

about SIX FURLONGS (6f abt 6yds) (1200m)
This race is a six furlongs maiden stakes for two-year-olds and is only for horses in Bands B, C and D. Maiden races provide a starting point for young horses that are yet to record a victory and most will be very lightly-raced or be making their racecourse debuts. Previous experience can count for a lot when searching for the winner but well-bred or precocious juveniles are more than capable of landing the prize at the first time of asking.
Leading course trainer (17-22): D O’Meara (23 wins from 138 runners, 17%) runs MUSICAL DIVA
Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): K R Burke (9 wins from 52 runners, 17%) runs EMU WAR
Longest Traveller: MUSICAL DIVA trained by D O’Meara, Upper Helmsley, 208 miles.

RACE SUMMARY: Those with experience don’t set a particularly high standard, but SHE’SASHAMBLES showed some potential amidst greenness on debut, and might be worth chancing. Gone Rogue and Arantes Nascimento would be highly respected newcomers if the market spoke in their favour

This one mile and three furlongs contest for three-years-old to five-year-olds is another maiden stakes for horses in Bands B, C and D - a race for horses that have yet to record a racecourse victory. There are a variety of reasons why the older horses in this race could still be maidens. Stoutly bred horses are unlikely to be seen at their best over the shorter distances of their juvenile season whilst a setback or injury can curtail even the most precociously bred horse’s two-year-old career
Leading course trainer (17-22): I Jardine (24 wins from 263 runners, 9%) runs MINELLA YOUNGY Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): W Haggas (13 wins from 47 runners, 28%) runs MISTRESS LIGHT Longest Traveller: MISTRESS LIGHT trained by W Haggas, Newmarket, 360 miles.
BETTING FORECAST: 7-4 Dreams Adozen (FR), 7-2 Mistress Light (GB), 4-1 Weigh Anchor (GB), 5-1 Minella Youngy (IRE), 10-1 Night Life (GB)
RACE SUMMARY: This looks a good chance for DREAMS ADOZEN to open her account having performed with credit in handicaps of late. Mistress Light is sure to do better with her debut under her belt and is the obvious threat.

This is a one mile and one furlong handicap race for threeyear-olds and upwards which have been rated from 71 to 90.
To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap. In simple terms a horse rated 85 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 80.

Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): W Haggas (13 wins from 47 runners, 28%) runs DUBAWI WARRIOR

RACE SUMMARY: A few with chances but MR PROFESSOR made a promising start for Dominic Ffrench Davis when third at Sandown so is fancied to build on it and capitalise on a reduced mark. William Haggas’s handicap debutant Dubawi Warrior rates an obvious threat with better days ahead of him while recent winners Gainsbourg and Shine On Brendan can both have a say too. 1-2-3: 1.MR

about SIX FURLONGS (6f abt 6yds) (1200m)
The penultimate race is a six furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 61 to 80. Like most handicaps on the Flat this race is also open to horses that are rated below that particular band. However, all handicaps stipulate a minimum weight and no runner can carry less than that, irrespective of how low their rating is. This is often described as ‘running from out of the handicap’ and is considered a disadvantage
Leading course trainer (17-22): K Ryan (32 wins from 139 runners, 23%) runs SOUND REASON
Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): I Jardine (7 wins from 44 runners, 16%) runs NEVER DARK Longest Traveller: SOUND REASON trained by K Ryan, Hambleton, 183 miles.
BETTING FORECAST: 5-2 Slainte Mhath (GB),
4-1 Iris Dancer (GB), 11-2 Sound Reason (GB), 6-1 Love de Vega (IRE), 13-2 William Dewhirst (IRE),
7-1 Never Dark (GB)
RACE SUMMARY: Conditions were probably too testing for LOVE DE VEGA at Goodwood and, back down in trip on what should be better ground, he is worth chancing off a tempting mark. Iris Dancer was behind Slainte Mhath over C&D recently but may well reverse those placings on slightly better terms this time Sound Reason remains feasibly treated but he has failed to shine when previously tried over 6f 1-2-3: 1.LOVE DE VEGA (IRE) 2.IRIS DANCER
