WELCOME
Good evening and a very warm welcome to Hamilton Park for our Lookers Audi Racenight
Our thanks go to tonight’s sponsors and partners; Lockton Companies LLP, Racing TV, the European Breeders Fund and our very own Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park, as well as title sponsors Lookers Audi who have some of their latest models on display at the front of the grandstand. We hope you and your guests have a fabulous evening with us.
We have a great seven race card this evening starting with the first Amateur Riders race of the season at Hamilton Park. With a near full field of 13 declared, some of the UK’s leading Amateur Riders are lined up to ride in this race and it should prove an intriguing contest.
Serena Brotherton is one of the UK’s top Amateur Jockeys and she regularly rides in races alongside a part-time job as a solicitor and has over 210 winners to her name across all types of racing including 161 on the flat. She’s scheduled to ride Dylan’s Lad for Michael and David Easterby this evening, but her riding career has certainly taken her much further afield having ridden in races in Morocco, Australia, France, Germany, Hungary, Malaysia and Peru. Serena has already taken two wins from her six rides on the flat so far this year and will no doubt be looking to add to her four previous wins here at Hamilton Park.
The Lookers Edinburgh Audi Ayr Audi Handicap (Class 4) at 7.50pm sees three former course and distance winners go head-to-head over six furlongs. Katie Scott is enjoying a strong start to her Hamilton Park campaign having trained three winners so far this season. She has Elladora competing in this race who won here for the second time on 19 May 2023. Another winner from that evening is the Grant Tuer-trained Vince Lombardi who will once again take on Tristan Davidson’s Iris Dancer who is also a two-time winner here but came second when the pair met last month.
Next week we see Royal Ascot take centre stage in the racing world, but don’t forget we race ourselves here at Hamilton Park next Wednesday and then again the following Thursday when it is our big charity evening of the year, the Indigo Unified Comms Saints & Sinners Racenight. There’s still time for you to get your discounted tickets to ensure you join us for not only a great night of racing but also some fantastic entertainment from the team at Go Radio
Looking further ahead we are delighted to reveal that legendary Jockey Frankie Dettori is expected to appear at Hamilton Park on Friday 21 July at our G4 Claims Glasgow Stakes Racenight. Frankie hasn’t ridden here since 2010 and so we’re looking forward to seeing him in action one last time before he retires at the end of the season.
Tickets for all of our fixtures are available at www.hamilton-park.co.uk with some excellent discounts applied when you purchase online in advance
Have a great evening and be lucky!
Kind regards,
ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR

AMATEUR JOCKEYS’ HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6)
RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a six furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 55. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

RACE DESCRIPTION
This race is a five furlongs maiden stakes for two-year-olds. Maiden races provide a starting point for young horses that are yet to record a victory and most will be very lightly-raced or be making their racecourse debuts. Previous experience can count for a lot when searching for the winner but well-bred or precocious juveniles are more than capable of landing the prize at the first time of asking.

THE LOCKTON COMPANIES PARK HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6)
RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a one mile and three furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 65. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap In simple terms a horse rated 65 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 60.

THE LOOKERS AUDI GLASGOW/HAMILTON HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4)
RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a six furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds only which have been rated from 61 to 80. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed.
A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty –usually 6lb

RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a six furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 61 to 80. Like most handicaps on the flat this race is also open to horses that are rated below that particular band. However, all handicaps stipulate a minimum weight and no runner can carry less than that, irrespective of how low their rating is. This is often described as ‘running from out of the handicap’ and is considered a disadvantage

HAMILTON PARK HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6)
RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a one mile and two furlongs handicap race for threeyear-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 60.
