WELCOME
Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to our Cadzow Castle Raceday, our first midweek fixture of the season. We have an exciting afternoon of racing ahead of us with prize money totalling £63,300 on offer across the card, and all races being run at no less than £2,000 above BHA minimum values. This is all part of our continued commitment to prize money, Owners experience, and the quality of the racing we stage here at Hamilton Park, with a record prize fund of over £1.64M planned for the season with investment across all classes of race.
A big thank you goes to all of today’s sponsors and partners; Weatherbys and the European Breeders Fund, as well as Lookers Audi who have some of their latest models on display at the front of the grandstand. Another of today’s sponsors is our very own Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park Hotel. The hotel bar is open and accessible to all racegoers during and after our racedays, so please do pay them a visit if you’d like a drink or two throughout the day I wish all of today’s sponsors and their guests here with us today a fabulous afternoon, made all the more enjoyable by the glorious spell of weather we are all enjoying.
Six go to post in todays feature race at 3.20pm, the Weatherbys Digital Solutions Handicap which is a Class 4 handicap over six furlongs that was won last year by subsequent Royal Ascot winner Inver Park, who can also be seen on today’s racecard cover. Trainer Ruth Carr runs Swiss Ace who is at the top of the weights, however with talented apprentice Billy Loughnane taking the ride that burden will be reduced by his claim. The current market leader is Lord Abama for Michael Dods who ran strongly at Carlisle last time out only to be beaten by a neck. Connor Beasley takes the ride and will no doubt be looking for his first winner here for the season.
Blue Jay Way makes his handicap debut for trainer John David Riches, making him the unknown quantity in the race However, we saw the same colours of Owners JR Racing causing quite the upset last year with stablemate Astapor, who became the joint-biggest priced flat winner in Britain at odds of 200/1. Like Astapor, Blue Jay Way joined John Riches from Mick Channon so we could see history repeat itself this afternoon.
Looking ahead, June is always a very busy month for us with our fixtures coming in quick succession. Next week we have our Sodexo Live! Raceday taking place on Thursday 8 June, followed by two more fixtures before our ever-popular Saints & Sinners Racenight takes centre stage on the evening of 29 June Once we get into July and August we have some of our biggest fixtures of the season, including our Boë Ladies Night featuring a live performance from Peter Andre as well as a special guest appearance from Chris Hughes on Saturday 5 August. It really is shaping up to be the most glamorous event of the summer, and with our Early Bird ticket price ending today there is no better time to secure your tickets at the very best price Tickets are available online for all of our fixtures with some great savings to be made when you buy in advance via our website www hamilton-park.co.uk
Have a great afternoon and I hope you back a few winners!
Kind regards,
ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR

RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a five furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 56 to 75. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

about FIVE FURLONGS (5f abt 7yds) (1000m)
(FOR HORSES IN BANDS C AND D) (EBF RESTRICTED RACE
RACE DESCRIPTION
This race is a five furlongs maiden stakes for two-year-olds. Maiden races provide a starting point for young horses that are yet to record a victory and most will be very lightly-raced or be making their racecourse debuts. Previous experience can count for a lot when searching for the winner but well-bred or precocious juveniles are more than capable of landing the prize at the first time of asking.

3:20 Hamilton – The Weatherbys Digital Solutions Handicap (Class 4)
Six go to post in the Weatherbys Digital Solutions Handicap, a Class 4 handicap over six furlongs that was won last year by subsequent Royal Ascot winner Inver Park.
The weights are headed by five-year-old Swiss Ace for Ruth Carr, who enlists the services of talented claimer Billy Loughnane to reduce that burden. Once with Aidan O’Brien, the son of Kingman has won twice since switching to the Yorkshire stable in 2021, both of those victories coming at Newcastle on the All-Weather He drops back to six furlongs here, and also back in class, after a respectable fifth when last seen at Thirsk.
The current market leader though is Lord Abama for Michael Dods, who was denied by just a neck at Carlisle last time after travelling strongly from the rear of the field but unable to catch the winner in the final strides. Although a ten-race maiden, he has filled the runner-up spot in two of his last four starts and looks to be a winner in waiting off an unchanged mark of 69.
Blue Jay Way is the sole three-year-old in the field and the most unexposed of the runners with just three starts under his belt. He has finished last on all three starts in novice company and makes his handicap debut for new trainer John David Riches off an opening mark of 65 here, he is the unknown quantity in the line-up
Alternately, the oldest horse in the field is Katie Scott’s six-year-old Thaki. He has had 36 starts, but with all five of his wins coming on the All-Weather The son of Lope De Vega has run consistently for new trainer Katie Scott, finishing third on all of his last three starts, but does have over two-and-a-half lengths to make up on Lord Abama, on equal terms, based on their Carlisle run.
Yaaser is another in the field by Lope De Vega, and Jim Goldie’s five-year-old drops significantly in trip here after finishing third over a mile at Ayr last time He has never raced over six furlongs in his career, but has won three times over seven, including a Class 3 last August at Doncaster as part of the Racing League from the same mark.
Gannon Glory is more experienced at these sprint trips, racing over five or six furlongs in all of his 12 starts. He is winless since a maiden victory on his second career start but is a consistent type and has dropped to a tempting mark of 69 here for Richard Fahey.
3:50 Hamilton – The Weatherbys Global Stallions App Handicap (Class 4)
Five go to post in the Weatherbys Global Stallions App Handicap, a Class 4 event over 1m3f
The weights are headed by Molinari for Martin Todhunter, a winner over course and distance here back in 2021. A two-time winner last term, he has yet to make his presence felt in two starts this year but did need several runs under his belt before getting off the mark in both 2020 and 2022 so may be seen to better effect with those runs behind him.
The oldest horse in the field is the eight-year-old Where’s Jeff, who has an excellent record around Hamilton and was last seen winning over course and distance at the start of May. That was a determined victory as he battled strongly to fend off a late challenger in first-time cheekpieces, which are retained here. He couldn’t hold off Molinari’s challenge at Beverley last year, going down by just a head, but has a three pound weight swing with that rival when they meet again.
Simple Star is the other last time out winner in the field, Dianne Sayer’s five-year-old getting off the mark for his new trainer on the fourth time of asking at Musselburgh when dropped significantly in trip after three cracks at staying distances. A three pound rise seems fair, and he finished a close second here at the track last term, so we know he handles the course
The most unexposed in the field is David O’Meara’s four-year-old Sea Grey, who has had just the six career starts. A maiden winner for Andrew Balding, he has yet to win in four starts for his new stable but a repeat of his good second at Haydock on his penultimate start would give him as good a chance as any off the same mark of 79
A La Francaise is another course and distance winner in the field who has struggled with the hike in the weights on her three starts since that victory, a ten-pound rise proving too much. She has since dropped eight pounds in the handicap though and is now just two pounds above her last winning mark.

RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a six furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 61 to 80. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap In simple terms a horse rated 75 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 70.

THE WEATHERBYS GLOBAL STALLIONS APP HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4)
RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a one mile and three furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 61 to 80. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 6lb

HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5)
RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a one mile and one furlong handicap race for threeyear-olds only which have been rated from 51 to 70.
