Welcome

A very warm welcome to our G4 Claims Glasgow Stakes Racenight - one of our richest racing nights of the year with a card worth £132,000, featuring our highest-grade race of the year, the Class 1 British Stallion Studs EBF Glasgow Stakes (Listed). A huge thank you to our new title sponsor this evening, Wishaw-based G4 Claims Ltd, who are one of Scotland’s leading ‘Not at Fault’ claims companies. Your sponsorship is very much appreciated and enables us to enrich the prize money on offer tonight. We would also like to thank the European Breeders Fund who support our race programme so much all year too, as well as Contraflow Traffic Management, Racing TV, and our very own Hampton by Hilton HamiltonParkHotel.Ihopeyouandallyourguestsherewithusthiseveninghaveagreattime. We have a strong field of runners forthe G4 Claims Not At Fault Claims Made Easy Scottish Stewards’ Cup, which is a fast and furious handicap over 6f at 7.17pm. The race mirrors the famous Stewards’ Cup which is run each year during the Glorious Goodwood Festival and the winner of our Scottish version often goes on to run well in the Goodwood race. The current 6f track record was set by George Bowen as he blitzed home to stop the clock in 1m.09.03 in the 2018 renewal - his trainer Richard Fahey has entered Mr Lupton for this year’s race who will be hoping to challenge for the win. Last year’s winner, Commanche Falls went on to scoop the Goodwood Stewards’ Cup 15-days later, and the neck runner-up Gulliver is top-weight in tonight’s race, piloted by apprentice jockey Ryan Sexton, who claims 5lbs. However, Music Society, only beaten by a nose in last year’s race, could go one better for trainer Tim Easterby under jockey David Allan. This year’s running of the Glasgow Stakes is at 7.47pm, and is by some way the richest race staged in Britain today. The current 1m 3f Hamilton Park course record was set by Postponed when he won the 2014 race before going on to score at Group 1 level, as did 2017 Glasgow Stakes hero Defoe. Both were owned by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, who is represented by Andrew Balding-trained Groundbreaker, ridden by Postponed’s jockey Andrea Atzeni. Nahanni, trained by Charlie Appleby for Godolphin was seventh in the Derby at Epsom and is the top-rated runner with a BHA mark of 102. Jockey Daniel Muscutt takes the ride in the famous blue silks this evening. Once the fantastic racing action has finished, we have The Rock of Ages Experience performing an amazing tribute to the music of the smash-hit Hollywood musical and film, with some of the greatest rock classics of the eighties. From Bon Jovi and Guns N Roses to Journey and Whitesnake – the six-piece band are set to rock the racecourse to its very foundations, so do stay on and enjoy the show until bars close at 11pm. We have a couple of weeks without racing before we open our gates for our ever-popular Boë Ladies’ Night on Saturday 30 July. Tickets are selling fast, so do head to www.hamilton-park.co.uk to secure your tickets for our biggest night of the year! Have a wonderful evening and I hope you back some winners! Kind Regards ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR
