THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS

CAPTAIN JC STEWART

WELCOME Good evening and welcome to Hamilton Park for our Indigo Unified Comms Saints & Sinners Racenight. Tonight is one of the most famous racenights in the calendar, and we’ve got a fantastic evening ahead with a great card of racing and some excellent post-racing entertainment, whilst raising much needed funds for the charities’ supported by the Saints & Sinners Club of Scotland. Our thanks go to all of tonight’s sponsors – The European Breeders Fund, Pangea Group, PDM Buildbase, Patersons of Greenoakhill and our title sponsors Indigo Unified Communications. I hope you and your guests have a most enjoyable evening’s racing with us. This evening’s racing gets underway with the Pangea Group Saints & Sinners Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap for the Saints & Sinners Challenge Cup. Whilst we have a small field for this years’ race, former Champion Owner Jimmy Long has Wickywickywheels looking to challenge for the win having won here on 25 May. However, Tim Easterby has once again targeted this race with Chief Craftsman, who’ll once again be piloted by his daughter, Emily. Our feature race, the Class 3 Patersons of Greenoakhill Handicap at 8.30pm, has a quality field and should prove a highlight of the evening. Top of the weights is Ready Freddie Go for trainer Ollie Pears, with Apprentice Jockey Harry Russell taking the ride having recently piloted a winner here at an incredible 200-1! Local trainer Keith Dalgleish and syndicate Owners Middleham Park Racing LI & Partner will also be hoping to feature with an improved run from The Thin Blue Line, who’s most recent outing saw him place second at Musselburgh on 5 June. As we all know, tonight is not all about the racing. The Saints & Sinners Club of Scotland do incredible work throughout the year raising funds for the often-forgotten smaller charities from across Scotland. Their fundraising takes an enormous amount of work and we at Hamilton Park are proud to support them this evening. In addition to a donation made from every ticket purchased for this evening, funds raised from the sale of red and white carnations will go to the charity. Details of other ways of supporting Saints & Sinners are featured in tonight’s racecard including a fantastic Silent Auction with some incredible prizes up for grabs, as well as our annual Sign-a-Note raffle. Entering couldn’t be easier – simply place £10 in one of the envelopes available around the course and pass it to one of the team. Please help them to make a difference tonight and support the fund-raising as much as you can. Don’t let the Sun Go Down too early on your time with us tonight as we welcome one of the UK’s finest tribute acts, Elite Elton – The Elton John Experience, who will take to the stage after the last race to get you Crocodile Rocking through until the end of the evening. Have a fantastic night and I do hope you back a winner or two! Kind Regards ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR

WELCOME Good evening and welcome to the annual Saints & Sinners Club of Scotland race meeting. After a very difficult two years for everyone, it is great to be back here at Hamilton Park without any restrictions and able to enjoy the evening’s racing with a proper crowd once again. The Club raises funds to distribute annually to small Scottish charities and the yearly grant from the Club is the difference that enable many to carry on their work. The loss of the race meeting in 2020 and reduced attendance last year was a significant blow to our fundraising, however our reserves enabled us to continue to support over 140 charities, with over £130,000 issued in grants. Being back here tonight and your contribution to our fundraising will be a massive help to maintain that level of giving, even in these challenging times. I’d also like to thank Ashley and all the team here at Hamilton for their support over the past two years. I hope you have a great night, back a few winners and on behalf of the whole Club, I’d like to thank you too for coming this evening and supporting our efforts; it is much appreciated. Philip Martin, Race Convener

This is a one mile and five furlongs handicap race for fouryear-olds and upwards which have been rated from 51 to 70. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130. Leading course trainer (17-22): T Easterby (30 wins from 195 runners, 15%) runs CHIEF CRAFTSMAN Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): T Easterby (12 wins from 114 runners, 11%) runs CHIEF CRAFTSMAN Longest Traveller: TYNWALD trained by R Hughes, Upper Lambourn, 367 miles.

RACE SUMMARY:

WICKYWICKYWHEELS was an impressive winner here on her penultimate start and then seemed unsuited by the sharp track at Musselburgh last time, so she’s worth a chance to resume winning ways at the likely expense of The Resdev Way. Tynwald is a danger dropping back in grade. 1-2-3: 1.WICKYWICKYWHEELS (IRE) 2.THE RESDEV WAY 3.TYNWALD STEWARDS NOTE: TYNWALD: Following its run on 9/6/2022 it was reported that the horse ran too freely. WICKYWICKYWHEELS: Following its run on 5/6/2022 it was reported that the horse was never travelling.

THE BOOK OUR ON-SITE HOTEL EBF RESTRICTED MAIDEN FILLIES’ STAKES (CLASS 4) (FOR HORSES IN BANDS C AND D) (EBF RESTRICTED RACE QUALIFIER) (GBB RACE) RACE DESCRIPTION

This race is a five furlongs maiden stakes for two-year-old fillies only. Maiden races provide a starting point for young horses that are yet to record a victory and most will be very lightly-raced or be making their racecourse debuts. Previous experience can count for a lot when searching for the winner but well-bred or precocious juveniles are more than capable of landing the prize at the first time of asking.

RACE STATISTICS

THE INDIGO UNIFIED COMMS SELLING HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a five furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 60. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap. In simple terms a horse rated 75 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 70.

THE PDM BUILDBASE SCOTLAND MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 5) (GBB RACE) RACE DESCRIPTION

This one mile and one furlong contest for three-years-old and upwards is another maiden stakes - a race for horses that have yet to record a racecourse victory. There are a variety of reasons why the older horses in this race could still be maidens. Stoutly bred horses are unlikely to be seen at their best over the shorter distances of their juvenile season whilst a setback or injury can curtail even the most precociously bred horse’s two-year-old career.

Fifth Race

THE CAPTAIN JC STEWART FILLIES’ HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a one mile handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards fillies and mares only which have been rated from 61 to 80. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 6lb.

RACE STATISTICS

Sixth Race

8.30p.m.

THE PATERSONS OF GREENOAKHILL HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 3) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a one mile and two furlongs handicap race for threeyear-olds and upwards which have been rated from 71 to 90. Like most handicaps on the flat this race is also open to horses that are rated below that particular band. However, all handicaps stipulate a minimum weight and no runner can carry less than that, irrespective of how low their rating is. This is often described as ‘running from out of the handicap’ and is considered a disadvantage.

about SIX FURLONGS (6f abt 6yds) (1200m)

Seventh Race

9.00p.m. THE HAMILTON-PARK.CO.UK HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a six furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 65.
