SUNDAY 7 JUNE
OFFICIAL PROGRAMME
Welcome to Family Race Day, a wonderful afternoon of racing and family entertainment.
With seven races on today’s card, including two valuable Listed contests, there are exciting opportunities for both established performers and emerging talent to showcase their ability on the track.
Our two feature Listed races are The Weatherbys/British EBF Agnes Keyser Fillies’ Stakes at 3.35pm and The Tapster Stakes at 4.45pm, both carrying prize funds of £70,000. The Agnes Keyser Stakes provides a valuable opportunity for progressive three-year-old fillies over a mile and two furlongs, while the Tapster Stakes is catered to older middle-distance performers competing over a mile and four furlongs in one of the highlights of the early summer season.
Earlier on the card, we look forward to welcoming some of the sport’s youngest equine stars in the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes and the Goodwood Horseracing Club Membership Selling Stakes, races that often provide an early glimpse of future talent.
We extend our sincere thanks to all our partners, especially Weatherbys, the European Breeders’ Fund, Rod Gaskin and Elston Consulting for their valued support of today’s racing programme.
Away from the track, there is plenty for families to enjoy throughout the day. From fairground rides and live entertainment to face painting and interactive activities, there is something for everyone, while offering a chance to get up close to the equine stars and experience the unique atmosphere of racing at Goodwood.
We look forward to welcoming you back next Friday for the second of our Three Friday Nights presented by Fitzdares fixtures, where racing, music and summer celebrations combine for another memorable evening under the Sussex skies.
The Duke of Richmond and Gordon, CBE DL Chairman, Goodwood Racecourse

Goodwood’s pronounced gradients and sharp bends favour the active, handy type of horse, the fluent mover rather than the big, long-striding runner, and this applies especially in short races and when the going is fast.

It is an absolute pleasure to be sponsoring the Weatherbys/British EBF Agnes Keyser Fillies’ Stakes at Goodwood this afternoon, a Listed race won by subsequent Group 2 LillieLangtryStakeswinnerWardaah 12monthsago.
There is a strong field of ten heading to the start, and John & Thady Gosden are responsible for two for those. William Buick keeps the ride aboard Sacred Ground, a Kingman filly out of 2019 Oaks winnerAnapurna.Awinnerondebut at Yarmouth last season, she has placed second in three consecutive Listed events since, latterly beaten just half-a-length at Newbury over this trip, and holds strong form claims. Ascot maiden winner Light OfParisisthemountofOisinMurphy for the stable and is a half-sister to GermanGroup1winnerLuckyLion.
George Boughey also has two runners in the race, DellaPaceand Lady Dora Mae. The former, ridden by Jamie Spencer, wasn’t best suited when fourth in a Listed race here over course and distance last time. She met trouble coming from therearbutdidkeeponnicelyinthe closing stages. Lady Dora Mae has proven progressive in handicaps and takes her chance up in grade underJackCallan.

Ghaiyyath filly Plaid ran out a wildly impressive eight-length winner of a Hamilton handicap for James Fanshawe last time and steps up in grade here, whilst Ralph Beckett’s Venetia also arrives from handicap company and is tried in first-time cheekpieces. Bath maiden winner Ourbren steps up in trip after she was chanced in the German 1000 Guineas last time and Capichera looks to shed her maiden tag with herformbeginningtostackup.

The month of September 2025 will lay heavy with Billy Vigar’s friends and family for the rest of their lives. On Saturday 20th when time stood still, and Thursday 25th when they lost one of the kindest, humblest and most talented young players imaginable. There are no words that will truly express the person Billy was and the sadness caused by his passing.
Billy was signed by Arsenal in 2017 and released in 2023 after several long-term injuries. Billy also represented Derby County, Eastbourne Borough, Hastings and Chichester City respectively. Billy was a true role model to any young and aspiring player. When going through tough times and setbacks he never surrendered or gave up, he never moaned or complained and always tried to stay positive.
He will always be remembered for his love for football and more importantly as a beautiful human being. He was taken far too early and the football world, his friends and most importantly, his girlfriend Lois and his family, miss him dearly every day
