SATURDAY 3 MAY
OFFICIAL PROGRAMME
SATURDAY 3 MAY
OFFICIAL PROGRAMME
Welcome to day two of our 2025 Season Opener.
Following a wonderful opening day yesterday, we’re delighted to round off this two-day event with another high-quality afternoon of racing on the South Downs.
The highlight of today’s card is our Listed race, The Racingclub.com Fillies’ Stakes at 2:00pm over a mile for three-year-olds and up. An imperative early-season target for promising fillies, this race has a strong reputation for producing future stars.
Later this afternoon, the £40,000 Future of Racehorse Ownership at Racingclub.com Handicap Stakes at 3:55pm promises a thrilling contest over nearly ten furlongs, marking one of five handicap races.
Our sincere thanks go to all our Partners, especially Elston Consulting and Racingclub.com for their generous support of today’s racing.
We hope you enjoy our second and final day of Season Opener 2025. Goodwood returns in three weeks’ time with more top-class racing and unforgettable experiences - and we look forward to welcoming you back.
On behalf of everyone at Goodwood, thank you for joining us.
The Duke of Richmond and Gordon, CBE DL Chairman, Goodwood Racecourse

course characteristics
Goodwood’s pronounced gradients and sharp bends favour the active, handy type of horse, the fluent mover rather than the big, long-striding runner, and this applies especially in short races and when the going is fast.
