SATURDAY 23 MAY
OFFICIAL PROGRAMME
Welcome to the second and final day of the 2026 May Festival presented by Fitzdares.
Following an excellent start to the meeting yesterday, we are delighted to round off the fixture with another high-quality afternoon of racing here at Goodwood.
The card begins with the £100,000 Fitzdares Harroways Handicap Stakes, a competitive seven-furlong contest for three-year olds. Attention then turns to the first of two Listed races, the British Stallion Studs EBF Cocked Hat Stakes, run over a mile and three furlongs. This race has a rich history of producing top-class middle-distance performers and remains an important contest for progressive colts.
The afternoon continues with the Elston Supports UK Financial Advisers EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes, before the spotlight returns to Listed race action with The Fitzdares Height of Fashion Stakes, a race that has long been associated with future stars.
Later, the Darley British EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes provides another opportunity for emerging talent to shine, before the staying horses take centre stage in the Avastra Funds Handicap Stakes, a valuable Class 2 contest over a mile and six furlongs. The meeting concludes with the Track Radio Handicap Stakes, a five-furlong sprint for three-year-olds.
Our sincere thanks go to Fitzdares and all our Partners, including the European Breeders’ Fund, Elston Consulting, Avastra Funds and Darley, for their continued support.
We hope you enjoyed this year’s May Festival presented by Fitzdares and look forward to welcoming you back for more exceptional racing throughout the season. The next meeting commences on Friday 5 June when Three Friday Nights presented by Fitzdares begins followed shortly by Family Raceday on Sunday 7 June.

Goodwood’s pronounced gradients and sharp bends favour the active, handy type of horse, the fluent mover rather than the big, long-striding runner, and this applies especially in short races and when the going is fast.
