TS

Welcome to the first of our Three Friday Nights fixtures, presented by Degen Distillery, which promises to be a fantastic evening of horseracing and music.
Our exciting six-race card this evening features an all Apprentice racecard which is the third year that the concept has been run at Goodwood Racecourse. Apprentice races are particularly important for jockeys starting out in their careers and success at this level is crucial to securing professional status within the horseracing industry. Apprentice jockeys are afforded a weight allowance in races as their chances of winning are not as high as seasoned professional jockeys.
Following racing, the parade ring will be transformed into a dancefloor as lasers light up the night sky Tonight, we welcome Craig David presents TS5, known as the maverick for mixing up familiar hard-hitting party tunes with influences spanning dance music across the globe. His tours have sold out in minutes. David has been nominated for fourteen Brit Awards: five times for Best British Male, and twice receiving a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance which speaks volumes for his talents.
Our thanks go to today’s Presenting Partner Degen Distillery, alongside William Hill and Gattaca whose generous support we are extremely grateful for.
We very much hope you will be joining us again for Family Raceday on Sunday and for racing throughout June. The act for the next Three Friday Nights presented by Degen Distillery will be Gok Wan.

course characteristics
Goodwood’s pronounced gradients and sharp bends favour the active, handy type of horse, the fluent mover rather than the big, long-striding runner, and this applies especially in short races and when the going is fast.

RAQRAAQ:Following its run on 19/4/2024 it was reported that the horse stopped quickly
Pink Lily displayed a willing attitude when regaining the winning thread over 1m2f at Bath a fortnight ago and she warrants respect in her current vein of form. However, the combination of a drop in distance and 4lb higher rating could prove the four-year-old’s undoing, with LUNARIO shading the verdict. Alice Haynes’ gelding was narrowly denied on the same card at Bath and compensation could await Fascinating Lips could also feature.

ISLANOVA went into plenty of notebooks when finishing a close-up second on her seasonal debut at Bath last month. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly looks capable of better and a breakthrough victory could be on the horizon. The main danger is the penalised winner D Flawless, who was quite taking when making all at Chelmsford, while the consistent Ghaihaban is also likely to be involved at the business end.

2023 WINNER: NO CORRESPONDING RACE LAST YEAR
Although respected after scoring a shade cosily at Chepstow recently, a 5lb penalty may be enough to thwart Connie’s Rose in her quest to land a double. The hat-trick seeking Rhythmic Acclaim is also sure to prove popular having recorded a brace of victories at Yarmouth in recent months. However, ALPINE GIRL finished second to a subsequent winner at Brighton last week and, racing off the same mark, James Fanshawe’s filly makes most appeal.

2023 WINNER: AGE OF SAIL 4 9 11 Harry Davies 7-4 (Gary Moore) 6 ran STEWARDS NOTED:
VAYNOR:Following its run on 17/5/2024 it was reported that the horse hung right-handed under pressure. SWISS MONEY:Following its run on 17/5/2024 it was reported that the horse was tight for racing room 2f out.
DANCING IN PARIS returned a clear winner back over this distance at York. He’s clearly on good terms with himself and is worth sticking with despite a 6lb rise. Genesius has a bit more to find off his current mark having finished third on the turf at Lingfield, but he should still be in the mix, while Fiddlers Green’s winning run came to end at Leicester and Vaynor makes more appeal dropping in class.
