Three Friday Nights Welcome to the second of our Three Friday Nights fixtures, presented by heycar. They have quickly become an established highlight of the summer season on the South Downs. This evening’s six-race programme features four competitive handicaps. Our first race is run in memory of Sir Eric Parker, a highly successful owner and breeder and a great supporter of British Racing. He enjoyed several Group and Graded race successes in his forty-three years as an owner, including the 1991 Grand National, which he won with Seagram. We are incredibly grateful to tonight’s race sponsors: heycar, William Hill, and the family and friends of the late Sir Eric Parker and Carol Phillips. Tonight, we welcome former Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac to the stage as a stalwart of the dance music scene. I hope you will stay on after the racing when we transform the paddock into the South’s most vibrant outdoor party. Please remember to share your Three Friday Nights experience with us using the #3FN. You can find us on all the popular social media channels where you can share your Goodwood highlights and keep up to date with our latest news.

#3FN Presents: Annie Mac Irish DJ and radio presenter Annie Mac has long championed U.K. dance music, carving out a career as a leading radio personality and globe-trotting DJ in the process. Annie Mac was born in Dublin in 1978 to a music-oriented household. Following her English Literature studies at Queens University, Mac moved to Camden, London where she worked with the student-run radio station SBN, alongside a DJ residency at Camden Underworld. At 23, she joined the BBC Radio 1 team as a broadcast assistant; three years on, she launched the Annie Mac show. After a decade of hosting dance music broadcasts, including the 7:00 P.M. Friday night slot, she took over Zane Lowe’s Monday-Thursday slot in 2014, which allowed her to showcase a broader variety of music. Last year, she announced she would leave Radio 1 to spend more time with her family after 17 years. DJ set start time: 9.30pm

The Course Course Characteristics Goodwood’s pronounced gradients and sharp bends favour the active, handy type of horse, the fluent mover rather than the big, long-striding runner, and this applies especially in short races and when the going is fast.

The Gambing Act Review Email your MP in less than a minute – we can all make a difference! We absolutely support the objectives of protecting vulnerable individuals from gambling-related harm, but it is imperative that any new legislation is proportionate, targeted and evidence-based and will not result in any unintended economic consequences to British horse racing. As a supporter of horseracing, we urge you to make your MP aware that you do not want any future gambling regulation to affect your civil liberties and freedom to choose how you spend your time and money enjoying horseracing. Potential measures could include affordability checks and limits on how much you can stake and deposit.
Simply 1. Visit racingtv.eaction.org.uk/GamblingReview 2. Enter your postcode to find your MP 3. Put your name to a prepared letter
The process is straightforward and will take less than a minute to complete, but could make a real difference to the future of the sport.
Thank you for your help in supporting the sport

Race Summary The market should prove informative in a race featuring plenty of newcomers and Richard Hannon's Bet Me, a daughter of Mastercraftsman, is an obvious contender. However, Karl Burke has been a trainer to follow on the juvenile front this year, with his fillies doing particularly well, and LADY MANYARA can continue the trend. Latifolia built on her debut run when second at Chelmsford just under two weeks ago and looks best of those with experience.

STEWARDS NOTED: PROPHET’S DREAM:Following its run on 18/5/2022 it was reported that the horse reared at the start.
Race Summary It is hard to oppose the George Boughey-trained SIMPLY SONDHEIM who is yet to put his foot wrong in handicap territory. He defied a 6lb penalty to win comfortably on his latest outing at Lingfield on Monday, keeping on well in the closing stages, and is yet to find his ceiling, so a 12lb penalty may not be enough to stop him completing a four-timer today. Sir Min must be of interest having stayed on over a shorter trip, while further improvement cannot be ruled out for Nonsuch Lad following his latest run.

Race Summary Aggagio had SARATOGA GOLD back in fifth when winning over 2m here three weeks ago and must have a good chance again off bottom weight for a shrewd yard. However, dropping back two furlongs may suit the Charlie Hills-trained four-year-old as he scored comfortably over C&D two starts ago and is taken to reverse the form. The consistent Ravens Ark is another to take seriously, likewise Downsman, who gets back on the turf and is unexposed over the trip.

Race Summary ROSA MYSTICA is a past course scorer and produced a career-best performance when winning over this trip at Lingfield last time. She carries a 6lb penalty for that success, but apprentice jockey Dean Le Roux takes a handy 7lb off her back and another bold bid is expected. Woodlands Charm also arrives in winning form and will likely make her presence felt, while Karl Burke's True Jem certainly isn't out of it either.

Race Summary In a wide-open event the marginal preference is for CHARLES ST, who is a consistent performer and was only beaten a head into second at Musselburgh last month. Off a 3lb higher mark today, the son of Outstrip could take plenty of stopping. Mugader appears to be on a workable mark on his handicap debut and he should not be underestimated. Others to note are Mercian Hymn and Auntie Margaret.

Melody Of Life produced a career-best performance when scoring at Leicester last week and the four-year-old warrants plenty of consideration, despite carrying a 5lb penalty for that victory. The vote, though, goes to ASCENDING, who caught the eye on his return over C&D last month and the son of Awtaad makes considerable appeal running off the same mark. Last Hoorah and Must Be Royale both arrive in decent form and the pair can fight it out for the minor honours.
