Good Afternoon. Welcome to the ﬁrst Spring meeting in 2022. It’s been a long Winter and there’s no better place to see in the warmer months than at a raceday at Bangor-on-Dee. Today we celebrate 2022’s only Sunday meeting at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse. We’re thrilled to be able to welcome racegoers to our picturesque track and hope you enjoy your leisurely day at the races. There are six exciting races on the card today. First we begin with The Broxton Gates Handicap Chase (Class 4) 0-120 at 2:02pm. Close behind is The Proactive Personnel Mares’ Handicap Chase (Class 3) 0-130 Challenger Mares’ Staying Chase Series Qualiﬁer with a prize of £13,400. Later, the day will close with The Visit Irish Store Sales with ITM Novices’ Hurdle Race Class 4 at 4:58pm I’d like to extend our thanks to today’s sponsors; Broxton Gates, Proactive Personnel, TOTE, RW Hough & Sons and Irish Thoroughbred Marketing. A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.

STANDARD TERMS FOR EACH WAY BETTING In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting. · Fewer than 5 runners – all to win · 5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2 · 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3 · Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3 · Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4

AWAY BETTING Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)

BETTING WITHOUT THE FAVOURITE At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.

PLACING YOUR BET Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker. You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.

COLLECTING YOUR WINNINGS If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race. You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were conﬁrmed. Billingsley will be a leading contender if taking part (also declared at Leicester on Friday) but, in the event that he misses this race, the focus switches to DISCKO DES PLAGES. The nine-year-old often shaped as though he had more to offer last season and, on his ﬁrst run after receiving a wind operation, he can make a winning return to action. Wouldubewell still has the scope to progress over fences and, with the step up in trip expected to suit, the daughter of Gold Well looks capable of a bold showing. However, she might struggle to hold off BELLE DE MANECH, who has taken on some smart opposition in recent starts. Schiaparannie should ﬁnd things easier in this company and can prove best of the remaining two runners.

JUNGLE JACK hasn’t put a foot wrong over hurdles this season, registering three wins, including when producing an impressive front-running display at this course last month. Making his handicap debut this time, the Donald McCain-trained gelding can continue his progression and get the better of Harbour Lake, who looked promising before being brought down in the Sidney Banks at Huntingdon last time. Goobinator, who was also declared at Newcastle on Friday, and Ulverston are the pick of the remainder.

The eye is drawn to the unexposed hurdler KAYFAST WARRIOR, who won comfortably at Wetherby on his penultimate start before shaping better than the bare result suggests at the same venue last time. The four-year-old switches to a handicap and can get the better of the front-running Ben Brody, who bumped into an improver when second over fences at Fontwell on his latest outing. John Betjeman is a consistent performer and can also ﬁgure. WIN: KAYFAST WARRIOR

GAMESTERS ICON was value for a lot more than the winning margin of three-quarters of a length when bettering the reopposing Kayfast Warrior over C&D last month, and a 9lb pull in favour of the latter may not be enough to alter the outcome here. It is difficult to look past the progressive GREY SKIES, as Donald McCain’s charge goes in search of the hat-trick following bloodless successes at Uttoxeter and Kelso to begin his career over hurdles. The son of Cloudings is readily preferred to Risk D’Argent, who hasn’t progressed since a comfortable win at Uttoxeter last December, while Red Vision (a stablemate of the selection) ran a career-best at Ludlow last month when shaping well in third. RACECOURSE REGULATIONS

BETTING RING MANAGER The Betting Ring Managers Inspection Pitch is located in the Tattersalls Enclosure, (please see racecourse map). He will be available in each enclosure to assist in any betting dispute.

GENERAL All badges, car park labels and hospitality packages are sold subject to these terms and conditions.

FORCE MAJEURE 1 The company shall not be liable to the racegoer for any failure or omission or breach caused by an event or events beyond the control of the company such as but not limited to war, civil disturbance, order of a Government Ministry or department or public authority, ﬁre, ﬂood, natural catastrophe, royal demise, labour dispute, lock-out, withdrawal of labour or breakdown or interruption of services or transport (public or otherwise) or death or illness of a key person. 1.1 Upon the happening of such an event the obligations of the company and any period of time then running shall be suspended for the period of the event plus such time as may be required to resume normality. 1.2 Such an event shall not entitle the racegoer to take any steps against the company for breach or to terminate the agreement or otherwise.

PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE RACEMEETING 2 Where badges, car park labels or hospitality packages are sold for a specified area of the Racecourse, the Company will use its best endeavours to ensure that the specified area is available for use at the specified time. If however the specified area cannot be used, for reasons not within the control of the Company, then the Company shall be entitled to offer a reasonable alternative. If no alternative is offered by the Company the customer will be entitled to a full refund of all monies received from him or her by the Company. 3 Refunds, other than those covered by clause 2 immediately above will not be considered unless badges/labels are returned to the racecourse, not less than 7 days prior to the race meeting and successfully resold. All refunds will be subject to an administration charge of 15% of the total refund.

ONCE THE RACE MEETING HAS COMMENCED 4 The climbing of fences, stands or any other buildings is forbidden. 5 Any person failing to comply with instructions from a steward or police officer may be ejected from the Racecourse. 6

drinking areas. Alcoholic beverages must not be carried to or consumed in these areas. 7 Amateur photography is accepted but only without ﬂash equipment. 8 Portable telephones may not be used anywhere on the Racecourse for betting purposes. Flags, banners and other articles and any behaviour such as drunkenness, abusive conduct, singing or shouting which may constitute an annoyance to spectators or distract or frighten the horses are prohibited. 9 Transfers between enclosures may be possible on the day, subject to availability. 10 Parking or setting down on the site is prohibited, other than at the official car parks. 11 Lost or stolen badges will not be replaced. 12

Hospitality badges are sold on the

understanding that no money in respect of unused badges will be reimbursed. 13 Subject to the provisions of clause 1 which shall prevail over this clause, in the event of abandonment before racing, or up to the “Weighed-In” of the ﬁrst race there will be a full refund of badge and car parking costs. In the event of abandonment after the “Weighed-In” of the ﬁrst race up to the “Weighed-In” of the third race or nominated feature race, whichever is later there will be a 50% refund of badge and car parking costs. In the event of abandonment thereafter there will be no refunds. No cash refunds to be paid on the day. All refunds to be administered after the meeting by post. Where any customer is entitled (pursuant to clause 13) to any refund, in order to qualify for such refund the customer must follow the procedure listed opposite: 13.1 Make a note of the reference numbers of all badges and car park labels (these numbers will be found on the front of each badge or label).
