It was an excellent day for jockey Tom Scudamore as he completed a fine double on Easter Monday.

The opening race of the day produced an intriguing battle with Royal Plaza coming out on top. The Katie Stephens-trained 11-year-old fought off the danger from Passing Secrets.

Royal Plaza made all and was flat out in the final stages, finding just enough to take the honours in the first race.

There was a surprise in the second race of the day on Easter Monday where the short priced favourite Forever William was beaten by Moulins Clermont ina three runner field. The Gary Mooretrained four-year-old made all and despite mistakes when three out and two out, found enough to fend off the danger from Forever William, winning by half-a-length. Doublethetrouble was a well beaten third.

It was a golden performance from Tom Scudamore in the third race of the day.

Scudamore was on board Glimpse Of Gold who produced a fine round of jumping to secure a comfortable win, seeing off Zamond by over four lengths. That win completed a fine double for the jockey. Brian Hughes was hoping to add to his impressive

tally of winners as he was on board the favourite Restitution, but was unable to leave a mark on this race.

Restitution failed to produce a fluent round of jumping and the various mistakes proved costly.

It wasn’t long befor Brian Hughes added to his list of winners. The jockey was on board the Toby Bulgintrained Rapaport and the pair cruised to a comfortable 25-length victory.

Red Royalist, who went off favourite, didn’t have an answer to the imprssive performance from Royal Plaza. Royal

SUNDAY 22ND MAY - JARROLD LADIES DAY SE E YOU THERE! Plaza was pushed along when three out and was three lengths clear when approaching the last before easily going clear to bolt up in the fourth race of the meeting.

There was a surprise in the next race where 16-1 shot Minellacelebration produced a fine performance to secure a relatively comfortable win, seeing off the danger from Potters Legend. Minellacelebration travelled strongly throughout and produced a strong round of jumping. Trainer Katy Price stated she thought the better ground was a key factor in the improved performance shown by the 12-year-old.

In the penultimate race of the day it was the Dan Skelton-trained Not That

Fuisse, who comfortably beat the favourite Law Of Gold by four lengths.

Despite making a mistake at the 10th, Not That Fuisse recovered well and went third when approaching the 13th. The nine-year-old took the lead approaching the last and soon went clear in the closing stages.

Another great days racing was completed with Coin Basket winning the final race on Easter Monday. The five-year-old battled it out with Pure Theatre but the Milton Harris-trained five-year-old found just enough to win by a short head. Kevin Jones was on board Coin Basket and he mounted a challenge with Pure Theatre when three out and held his nerve to secure his first win of the meeting.

BHA RATINGS

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.

A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.

A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY TO FAKENHAM RACECOURSE IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ Entry to this racecourse and grounds (the “Racecourse”) is granted subject at all times to the Fakenham Racecourse Company Terms and Conditions of entry, which can be found at www.fakenhamracecourse.co.uk (under Racing tab, sub heading Important Raceday Information). Please note that special conditions may apply to you if you are attending the Racecourse as a member of staff (whether engaged by the Racecourse and/or any of our contractors) or otherwise than in your personal capacity as a spectator. • Only those attendees who have been given express prior permission by Fakenham Racecourse (the“Operator”) to trade, advertise, distribute leaflets or conduct any other commercial or promotional activities on the Racecourse may do so. This prohibition extends to and includes any person directly or indirectly involved in the collation and/or distribution of any audio, visual, audio-visual coverage of, or data relating to, any race or fixture at the Racecourse or any other British racecourse which has not been expressly permitted in advance by the Operator.

• Use of cameras, video equipment, laptop and other computer equipment, mobile telephones and other telecommunications devices at the Racecourse is strictly controlled and limited. You are not permitted to make any commercial use of any audio/visual coverage, still images or data relating to racing at the Racecourse. You must not use any device or technology to capture, record, store, transmit or broadcast any data relating to any race, fixture or other race-related activity at the Racecourse (except amateur photography, for private and domestic use), unless you are expressly permitted to do so.

VISITORS AGREE TO: • Submit to a search of their persons, bags and vehicles; • Comply at all times with the instructions of the officers and management of the Company, the officers and stewards of the British Horseracing Authority, security staff and police.

• Observe the racecourse rules of betting: only visitors carrying valid betting badges and occupying an authorised pitch may offer or lay bets.

• Observe the rules and terms and conditions governing other commercial activities on the racecourse: only authorised vendors are permitted to trade.

• Abide by the racecourse dress code which is as follows: smart casual attire for hospitality guests (e.g. no trainers) and for others to dress respectfully (e.g. no bare chests). The management of the racecourse reserve the right to refuse entry to any person it regards, at its sole discretion, is in breach of the dress code.

THE FOLLOWING ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED: • Drunken and abusive behaviour, foul language or the possession of illegal substances; • The display of any signage or branding and the distribution of any promotional or advertising material; • Obstruction of any of the racecourse’s gangways, stairways, entrances and exits and unauthorised climbing on any structure within the racecourse; • Access to unauthorised areas of the racecourse; • Bringing on to the racecourse any of the following: - Any items of food or drink including picnics. The exception is that these items can be consumed in the car parks, but not in the enclosures; - Any flags, banners or other such articles which may distract visitors or the horses; - Tents or gazebos without prior consent of Fakenham Racecourse.

- Any dangerous chemicals or substances hazardous to health or machinery; - Ball games i.e. football or rugby; LIMITATION OF LIABILITY To the maximum extent permissible by law the Company shall not, nor shall any of its officers, managers or staff, in any circumstances, be liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense or any consequential or indirect loss or damage of any kind suffered by visitors to the racecourse, including but not limited to any loss or damage to personal items and vehicles belonging to visitors while on or about the racecourse. This does not affect our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence; nor any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
