It has been great to have racegoers back since October – long may it last. It was an excellent day for jockey Tom Cannon and trainer Dr Richard Newland as the pair both completed a double.

Our seven-race card kicked off the Robert Case Memorial Conditional Jockeys’ Maiden Hurdle where Dr Richard Newland secured his first winner of the day in the form of Rewired. Despite a couple of mistakes, the four-year-old kept on well in the closing stages and found enough to fend off the danger from Coastguard Station for jockey Cillin Leonard. It was another relatively close finish in the next with Coole Well winning for Jake Coulson under a smart ride from Max Kendrick. Coole Well was hard ridden from two out but a good jump at the last soon reduced the deficit to Scudamore and the gelding found enough to secure the prize. Scudamore did lea for a large part of the race but despite a good jump at the last, he wasn’t able to find any extra for jockey Darragh O’Keefe, resulting in him relinquishing his lead to Coole Well. It certainly wasn’t a close finish in the third race of the day with Via Dolorosa absolutely romping to victory with an mightly impressive 20

length success for David Pipe. Philip Armson was never in any dange on board the 10-year-old and the pair found themselves 15 lengths clear after two and that lead soon extended in the closing stages to record a very comfortable win. Tom Cannon rode his first winner of the meeting in the fourth race, on board Hiway One O Three in what was another comfortable winning margin. The Chris Gordon-trained five-yearold wasn’t entirely fluent throughout but that didn’t hinder his chances and

It didn’t take Cannon too long to backup his win on Hiway One O Three. In the Country Food Trust Fakenham Silver Cup, he was succesful with the favourite Restitution for tainer Alan King. The four-year-old tracked the leaders before Cannon nudjed him along before two out. Despite a mistake at the last, he kept on strongly in the run-in to hold off the competition from Vocal Duke. Dr Richard Newland completed his double for the day with success for Wake Up Early. Charlie Hammond was on board for this 3m5f handicap chase. Wake Up Early tracked the early leader before going clear after two out. There was a good jump at the

last but the lead was recuded in the run-in from Goodnight Charlie. The ﬁnal race of the day saw a comfortable win for Dan Skelton with Not That Fuisse beating Peacocks Secret by nearly four lengths. Jockey Tristan Durrell held the nine-year-old up towards the rear of the pack and despite a couple of poor jumps, he was going best after two out. The pair soon led when approaching the last and ran on well in the run-in to complete a ﬁne day of racing here at Fakenham.

BHA RATINGS

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY TO FAKENHAM RACECOURSE IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ Entry to this racecourse and grounds (the “Racecourse”) is granted subject at all times to the Fakenham Racecourse Company Terms and Conditions of entry, which can be found at www.fakenhamracecourse.co.uk (under Racing tab, sub heading Important Raceday Information). If you would like a copy of the Terms and Conditions please ask a member of staff. Please note that special conditions may apply to you if you are attending the Racecourse as a member of staff (whether engaged by the Racecourse and/or any of our contractors) or otherwise than in your personal capacity as a spectator. It is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with the Terms and Conditions (including any applicable special conditions), but we draw your attention in particular to the following conditions which apply to all entrants to the Racecourse. Non-compliance with the following provisions will constitute a serious breach of the Terms and Conditions, as a result of which we have the right to cancel and withdraw any Ticket or other entitlements issued to you and eject you from the Racecourse. The management reserves the right to change the terms & conditions of entry without prior notice. • Only those attendees who have been given express prior permission by Fakenham Racecourse (the“Operator”) to trade, advertise, distribute leaflets or conduct any other commercial or promotional activities on the Racecourse may do so. This prohibition extends to and includes any person directly or indirectly involved in the collation and/or distribution of any audio, visual, audio-visual coverage of, or data relating to, any race or fixture at the Racecourse or any other British racecourse which has not been expressly permitted in advance by the Operator. • Use of cameras, video equipment, laptop and other computer equipment, mobile telephones and other telecommunications devices at the Racecourse is strictly controlled and limited. You are not permitted to make any commercial use of any audio/visual coverage, still images or data relating to racing at the Racecourse. You must not use any device or technology to capture, record, store, transmit or broadcast any data relating to any race, fixture or other race-related activity at the Racecourse (except amateur photography, for private and domestic use), unless you are expressly permitted to do so. VISITORS AGREE TO: • Submit to a search of their persons, bags and vehicles; • Comply at all times with the instructions of the officers and management of the Company, the officers and stewards of the British Horseracing Authority, security staff and police. • Observe the racecourse rules of betting: only visitors carrying valid betting badges and occupying an authorised pitch may offer or lay bets. • Observe the rules and terms and conditions governing other commercial activities on the racecourse: only authorised vendors are permitted to trade. • Abide by the racecourse dress code which is as follows: smart casual attire for hospitality guests (e.g. no trainers) and for others to dress respectfully (e.g. no bare chests). The management of the racecourse reserve the right to refuse entry to any person it regards, at its sole discretion, is in breach of the dress code. THE FOLLOWING ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED: • Drunken and abusive behaviour, foul language or the possession of illegal substances; • The display of any signage or branding and the distribution of any promotional or advertising material; • Obstruction of any of the racecourse’s gangways, stairways, entrances and exits and unauthorised climbing on any structure within the racecourse; • Access to unauthorised areas of the racecourse; • Bringing on to the racecourse any of the following: - Any items of food or drink including picnics. The exception is that these items can be consumed in the car parks, but not in the enclosures; - Any flags, banners or other such articles which may distract visitors or the horses; - Tents or gazebos without prior consent of Fakenham Racecourse. - Any dangerous chemicals or substances hazardous to health or machinery; - Ball games i.e. football or rugby; LIMITATION OF LIABILITY To the maximum extent permissible by law the Company shall not, nor shall any of its officers, managers or staff, in any circumstances, be liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense or any consequential or indirect loss or damage of any kind suffered by visitors to the racecourse, including but not limited to any loss or damage to personal items and vehicles belonging to visitors while on or about the racecourse. This does not affect our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence; nor any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
