BETTING EXPLAINED
Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

PLAY SMARTER
While it wasn’t much of a race in which NICK THE GREEK made a winning debut for this yard at Southwell, he at least arrives here on an apparent upward curve whereas pretty much all of his rivals have a bit to prove for one reason or another Foxey and Mermaids Cave are tentatively nominated as the main dangers, largely owing to the fact that it’s hard to find plausible excuses for the recent modest form shown by Hard Rain and I’m Too Tired.

Cases can be made for several, but the vote goes to ROBINSVILLE, who is yet to get his head in front but his recent fourth at Taunton following a breathing operation was more promising and that should have blown away any cobwebs. Things have really clicked with Letthedustsettle in recent months so he’s put forward as the main threat, with Sun Joy and Jupiter Allen rounding off the shortlist.

EMERGENCY EVACUATION
Whilst we always endeavour to take appropriate steps to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is, therefore, important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. We employ Safety Officials whose job it is to ensure your safety In the event of a situation which requires a partial or full evacuation of the Stands, announcements will be broadcast and the Officials will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your belongings with you and proceed out of the enclosure quickly and quietly under their guidance.
The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. It may give you peace of mind if you pre-plan and agree a meeting place with your party, just in case you become separated. If we are unable to re-occupy the Stands for any reason, you will be advised immediately, and, if it is considered safe to do so, you will be invited to return to your car or coach.
These are precautionary arrangements which we trust will not be required.
However, in the event of an emergency please remember; Take your belongings with you and under direction of the officials proceed quickly and quietly to the safe area then to your agreed rendezvous point or to your car or coach.

HEALTH AND SAFETY NOTICE
The Racecourse would be grateful if you would observe all Health & Safety requirements whilst you are at Exeter Racecourse The emergency exits from the bars onto the grandstand steppings are painted yellow and we would request that you do not stop whilst in this area.
We would also request that only those that are disabled use the disabled viewing ramp and that parents keep a close eye on all children and prevent them from climbing the running rails and getting on to the actual racecourse We would also like to remind racegoers that the first aid room is located adjacent to the weighing room.
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine BHA Officials ensure that racecourses deliver these standards. In addition Exeter Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in
the case of any incident involving a jockey
If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
