RACECARD
1. FORM
A quick way to see a horse’s past performance. These are its recent finishing positions.
Look out for Letters:
C = Has won at this course
D = Has won over this distance
CD = Has won over this distance at this course
BF = Was a beaten favourite
MORE INFORMATION ON THE FORM
- =New racing season
/ = Missed racing season

BETTING
Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
EXPERT VIEW
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
4. HORSE’S TRAINER & THEIR LOCATION
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.
OTHER USEFUL DETAILS
6. Owner’s colours worn by the Jockey
7. Saddlecloth number
8. Horse’s name

GYENYAME took a while to come to hand on the level but he needed just 3 attempts to get off the mark over hurdles, value for extra to boot at Wincanton last month and on that evidence, this opening mark should be within range Le Patron and Midnight Ginger head the opposition.

With just four starts under his belt in this sphere, HIPOP DES ONGRAIS may well have more to offer, particularly as a stayer having proved that this sort of trip is within his range when third on his first start beyond 2 1/2m at Taunton last month. He gets the nod ahead of King Turgeon, who was one of just two finishers when opening his account at Fontwell but he put in a good round of jumping there and a 3lb rise looks manageable The hat-trick seeking Haldon Hill has to enter calculations, too. This is tougher than the Plumpton handicap GERICO VILLE landed last month but he is clearly progressing and could still be on a handy mark having gone up just 2lb Next on the list is Ioupy Collonges, who brings potential to the table now upped in trip for this handicap debut. Ballydisco has to be feared judged on his improved effort at Ffos Las where he shared the spoils with a prolific and progressive rival, while Hauraki Gulf, another making his handicap bow, also merits respect.

Stewards Note:
GO WHATEVER: Following its run on 23/1/2022 it was reported that the horse ran too soon after its last race
Probable S.P’s: 5-4 Shantou Flyer (IRE), 3-1
Singapore Saga (GB), 4-1
Dandy Dan (IRE), 14-1 Go Whatever (IRE), 20-1 Wotzizname (IRE), 66-1
SHANTOU FLYER may be 13 but a placed effort in the premier hunter chase of the season at last month’s Cheltenham Festival shows he still retains plenty of ability and enthusiasm and he can prove too strong for last month’s C&D scorer Singapore Saga. Dandy Dan failed to figure behind the selection at Cheltenham but should make more of an impact in this less competitive environment.

Racehorse and Jockey Welfare
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine BHA Officials ensure that racecourses deliver these standards. In addition Exeter Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
