A quick way to see a horse’s past performance. These are its recent finishing positions. Look out for Letters: C = Has won at this course D = Has won over this distance CD = Has won over this distance at this course BF = Was a beaten favourite Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet. ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet. RACECARD

An opening-looking contest, with KING TURGEON an interesting contender as he makes his British debut. Bred to make a chaser, the 5-y-o was placed on both of his outings over fences in France and he can make a successful start for David Pipe Heading the list of dangers is winning-hurdler Marco Island, who has the look of a better chaser, while Garincha is also capable of going well.

Emergency Evacuation
Whilst we always endeavour to take appropriate steps to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is, therefore, important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. We employ Safety Officials whose job it is to ensure your safety In the event of a situation which requires a partial or full evacuation of the Stands, announcements will be broadcast and the Officials will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your belongings with you and proceed out of the enclosure quickly and quietly under their guidance.
The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area. It may give you peace of mind if you pre-plan and agree a meeting place with your party, just in case you become separated. If we are unable to re-occupy the Stands for any reason, you will be advised immediately, and, if it is considered safe to do so, you will be invited to return to your car or coach.
These are precautionary arrangements which we trust will not be required. However, in the event of an emergency please remember; Take your belongings with you and under direction of the officials proceed quickly and quietly to the safe area then to your agreed rendezvous point or to your car or coach.

Racehorse and Jockey Welfare
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine BHA Officials ensure that racecourses deliver these standards. In addition Exeter Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
