When a horse trained outside of Great Britain is entered in a race to be run in Great Britain, its Owner, Trainer and Rider will be deemed to have knowledge of the Rules of Racing applicable in this country and to have agreed to be bound by those Rules.

Entries may also be made on-line by authorised users via the Racing Administration Internet Site on or after Monday, November 29th up to the closing deadline.

ALL ENTRIES FOR HORSES TRAINED IN IRELAND SHOULD BE MADE TO HORSE RACING IRELAND BY NOON ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 6th (but entries may also be made direct to the Racing Calendar Office by Noon on Tuesday, December 7th, subject to the payment of a £82.00 handling charge, in accordance with the provisions of the Fee Code).

Note: The British Horseracing Authority has modified paragraphs 3, 5, 6, 15, 17 and 25 of the Race Entries Code in respect of The 2023 Cazoo Derby, to allow un-named horses to be entered at the First Entry stage, closing on December 7th, 2021.

STANDARD CONDITIONS 1. The Racing Calendar Office of Weatherbys Ltd. receives entries submitted for acceptance as agent for the Racecourse Authority and only upon the terms of the Standard Conditions. Acceptance of entries is subject to the power to refuse to allow entries to be accepted conferred by the Rules of Racing on the British Horseracing Authority Ltd. Entries are accepted by the Racing Calendar Office, acting as aforesaid, causing the name of the horse in question to be published as being entered for the race in question either in The Racing Calendar, when the race closes more than six days before running, or, for other races, on the British Horseracing Authority Racing Administration Internet site (www2.racingadmin.co.uk) and ordinarily in the Sporting Press.

2. The Standard Conditions subject to which every entry is submitted for acceptance are as follows:(a) The Owner (which expression shall in these Conditions include the Owner, as defined in the Rules of Racing, or any person in any way legally interested in the horse in question and his or their authorised agent) subjects himself in all respects to the Rules of Racing in force from time to time (and in respect of racing run outside of Great Britain, to the Rules in force where so run). (b) Neither:(i) the owners, the occupiers, the manager or the executive of the Racecourse to which the Entry relates (each and all of whom are herein collectively described as “the Racecourse Authority”) nor (ii) any servant, agent or independent contractor (including Weatherbys Ltd., Weatherbys Bank Ltd. and RaceTech Limited and their respective servants and agents) of the Racecourse Authority (each and all of whom are herein collectively described as “Racecourse Employees”) nor (iii) the Stewards of the meeting or any of the officials appointed for the meeting by the British Horseracing Authority Ltd. (each and all of whom are collectively referred to herein as “Officials”) shall in any circumstances whatsoever, including but not limited to the negligence of either the Racecourse Authority, Racecourse Employees or the Officials, be under any liability whatsoever to the Owner for any loss, injury, damage or delay of whatsoever kind suffered by or in respect of or in connection with any entered horse either at the Racecourse or at premises belonging to or occupied by the Racecourse Authority or elsewhere arising or resulting or indirectly from any act, neglect or default on the part of the Racecourse Authority or any Racecourse Employee or any Official and the Owner agrees not to sue any of the said Racecourse Authority, Racecourse Employees or Officials for or in respect of any such loss, injury, damage or delay. Always provided that nothing in this paragraph shall exclude liability for death or personal injury resulting from the negligence of either the Racecourse Authority, Racecourse Employees or the Officials. (c) The Racecourse Authority is or shall be deemed to be acting as agent or trustee on behalf of and for the benefit of all persons who are or might be from time to time Racecourse Employees or Officials and all such persons shall to this extent be or be deemed to be parties to the contract contained in or evidenced by this Entry. (d) In the event of the Directors of the British Horseracing Authority Ltd. in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by the Rules of Racing ordering the transfer to another racecourse of the race meeting to which the entry relates the entry is to be treated as a valid entry for the race at that other racecourse. Furthermore in the aforesaid event the benefit of these conditions is deemed to be assigned to the Racecourse Authority of the racecourse where the race meeting is held and the definitions and terms contained in (b) and (c) are to be read and construed as applying to the Racecourse Authority, Racecourse Employees and Officials of such racecourses.

PRIZE MONEY The owners of winning and placed horses will receive prize money from two different sources viz:1. Each owner entering to run in a race will be liable to contribute an amount of stake money (his “Stake”) into a pool which will be held by the Stakeholder.

There will be a separate pool of money for each race. When the race has been run and not voided the money in the pool will be divided up and distributed in accordance with the provisions of the Stakes and Prize Money Code. In the event of the race being voided all Stakes contributed prior to the race will be returned.

NOTE: Contribution of a Stake is not payment to a Racecourse and does not arise under or as part of the contract between an Owner and a Racecourse concerning the running of a horse in a race at the Racecourse.

In the event of the provisions of paragraph 17 of the Stakes and Prize Money Code becoming effective, in all cases the total stake money contributed to a race by Owners shall be paid to the remaining recipients specified under the Stakes and Prize Money Code.

2. Racecourses assemble funds from various other sources to create added money (“Money Added to Stakes”) which is also distributed in accordance with the provisions of the Stakes and Prize Money Code.

Where the word “Stakes” is used in the conditions of a race advertised in The Racing Calendar or on the Racing Administration Internet site, it means the Owners Prize Money Pool as defined by the British Horseracing Authority in the Rules of Racing.

REGISTRATION OF OWNERSHIP Entries can only be accepted from owners registered in accordance with the Rules of Racing. This does not apply to owners of horses trained outside Great Britain.

AUTHORITY TO ACT Entries can only be accepted from the person making the entries on this Entry Form if an Authority to Act under the Rules of Racing has been registered in accordance with Rule (B)43 for each owner in whose name an entry has been made, or, if the owner is a recognised company, an Appointment of Agent has been registered in accordance with Rule (C)8 of the Rules of Racing.

GENERAL When making entries the name of the horse (if registered), together with its country of foaling, colour, sex, sire and dam, and the name of the owner must be typewritten or written in BLOCK CAPITALS. Entries are made subject to withdrawal or correction up to the respective times of closing in the countries concerned.

The title “Mr” should always be omitted from owners’ names on the entry form and only the titles “Mrs, Miss, Major” etc, used.

The name of the owner must be stated with each entry.

SPECIAL NOTICE The following arrangements apply where an entry or similar transaction is received in one country for transmission to a second country, in which the race is to be staged. Where such transactions involve a financial commitment equal to or greater than £10,000 (or equivalent), the nominator may be required to provide sufficient funds in advance. In the event of failure to do this, the Racing Authority staging the race may not accept the entry.

Additionally, the British Horseracing Authority may require the nominator and/or Owner to provide sufficient funds in advance for the initial Stake and/or any additional sums laid down in the conditions of any race staged in this country.

DETAILS OF ABBREVIATIONS ”A” The Riders’ allowances under paragraphs 51 to 58 of the Weights and Handicapping Code CANNOT be claimed.

“SS” Indicates that the race will be started from Starting Stalls.

“SNC” (Sponsored Number Cloth) indicates Number Cloths to be carried in this race have been sponsored. These number cloths will carry the sponsors name/logo and must be carried by all horses running in the race. The sponsorship income will be divided in proportion to the number of horses which have started (as defined in the Rules of Racing), each horse’s share being paid in accordance with paragraphs 24 to 27 of the Stakes and Price Money Code.

“AC” (Attendants Clothing) indicates attendants’ clothing branded, if race sponsor has an historic agreement to provide attendants’ clothing, which overrides owners’ sponsorship arrangements. In such circumstances attendants cannot refuse to wear the clothing provided.

DISTANCE OF RACES The distances for all races must be regarded as approximate only and they may vary slightly from time to time due to minor variations when dolling-out is necessary on bends to maintain turf. No distance, however, will be less than the minimum distance stipulated by the Rules of Racing.

SAFETY FACTOR/MAXIMUM FIGURE The Safety Factor/Maximum Figure number appearing underneath the conditions of the race is the greatest number of horses which can normally be started for that race, subject to the Field Size Limit, and above which Rules (I)9 and (I)10 will come into force, i.e. elimination or division will take place. The number is published for information only and may be subject to variation in accordance with the General Instructions.

CHARGES ADDITIONAL TO THE ENTRY FEE A fee of £21.54 (plus VAT) is payable to the British Horseracing Authority Ltd. in respect of each entry processed via the Racing Administration Internet site and a fee of £32.25 (plus VAT) is payable to the British Horseracing Authority Ltd. in respect of each entry processed via Weatherbys’ Racing Operations Department Call Centre, together with, in each case, an additional £1.20 to the Horserace Betting Levy Board for the benefit of the Equine Infectious Diseases Services of the Animal Health Trust and £1.25 for the benefit of the welfare of former racehorses (see paragraphs 3 and 4 of the Race Entry Code).

These sums are additional to the entry fee.

RECORDING OF TELEPHONE CALLS All telephone calls made to or from the British Horseracing Authority office in London may be recorded, and those made to or from Weatherbys’ offices at Wellingborough will be recorded for the purposes of security, accuracy and training.

NOTE:- Entries for this race will be accepted at the time of the FIRST closing for horses which do not have a registered name at that time. However, such horses will be disqualified and removed from the race if a name has not been registered by noon on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, in accordance with Rule (E)3, Rule (E)4, Rule (E)8 and Rule (E)9. For horses trained in Great Britain, Ireland or the Channel Islands, an acceptable application must be made by the previous Friday. Horses entered for this race do not have to be implanted with a microchip until March 7th, 2023, the first scratching deadline. The winning horse in the Investec Conditions Stakes, run at the Sunday Meeting at Epsom Downs in September 2022, and in the Blue Riband Trial, run at the Spring Meeting at Epsom Downs in April 2023, if not a gelding or already entered, will receive an automatic entry to this race on the proviso that, should the horse remain in the Cazoo Derby after the subsequent scratching stages on March 7th (Cazoo Conditions Stakes only) and May 19th and confirmation stage on May 29th, the owner will be liable to meet the corresponding yearling payments of £1100, £3400 and £2800 respectively. In the event of a dead-heat in either race, both horses will receive an automatic entry to the Cazoo Derby.

ELIMINATION: If elimination is necessary from this race, the elimination sequence will be determined by Part D of Schedule (F)8 of the Rules of Racing.

This race will be restricted to 20 runners plus 2 reserves. The two reserves will be nominated as R21 and R22. (Please refer to the Special Notice published in The Racing Calendar and on the BHA’s Racing Administration Internet site www2.racingadmin.co.uk). The British The British Horseracing Authority has modified paragraphs 3, 5, 6, 15, 17 and 25 of the Race Entries Code for the purposes of this Race.

THERE WILL BE A PARADE FOR THIS RACE. Runners will be paraded in the order requested by the Managing Executive on the day.
