The Jockey Club would like to thank our Group Partners for their support in 2024
Welcome to Epsom Downs this afternoon for the Glass Times Afternoon Racing, our penultimate raceday of the year. It is definitely starting to feel like Autumn and we’re delighted to have you with us as we continue a great year of racing!
We’ve got a fantastic 7 race card this afternoon, and we are extremely grateful to Andy Westhead from Glass Times for their support across today’s racing The feature race is the Jump Jockeys Derby, which is a once-a-year opportunity for professional jump jockeys to experience the unique contours and undulations of our historic racecourse, and we have five jump jockeys visiting for the first time today.
This week is also National Racehorse Week, an annual celebration of the racehorse and it’s been fantastic to see a number of local racing yards open their doors to the public to see firsthand the love, care and attention that goes into looking after them To celebrate our equine stars today every winning horse will receive a special surprise reward to enjoy back at home!
We were also delighted to host an event with the council as part of World Suicide Prevention Day on Tuesday 10th September to raise awareness and highlight support available to people both suffering from mental health challenges or those directly impacted by the loss of someone to suicide. It was an inspiring evening there is a display on the Queens Stand Mezzanine which showcases the discussion in a wonderful pictorial format which I would encourage everyone to have a look at!
I hope you have a wonderful afternoon and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask one of our helpful team members across the site.

The Sir David Prosser Trophy celebrates the achievements of the most successful Epsom-based trainer from the 2024 racing season.
The trophy was named in Sir David Prosser’s honour on his retirement from the non-executive board of Epsom Downs in 2013. Sir David made an enormous contribution to the development of the racecourse over many years and remained a loyal supporter of Epsom Downs and the local training community until his passing in March 2020.
The award for the 2022/23 season was given to Adam West, with 20 winners across the 12 month period. He was closely followed in second by Michael Attwater, with 18 wins and in third was Simon Dow with 17 winners. The award was presented at the Epsom Owners & Trainers’ Ball in November 2023.
The 2023/24 award started on the 5th November last year, and current standings as of 12th September are:
The presentation for the winning trainer will be made at the Epsom Trainers Association Ball in November. The Sir David Prosser Trophy championship for 2024 runs from 5th November 2023 to 4th November 2024.
Epsom Downs is home to nearly 180 horses in training. These horses have access to six miles and 250 acres of top quality training surface along the Surrey Downs. We are very proud of the training grounds here on Epsom Downs. Racing is part of our heritage and we want to ensure that we keep the Downs as a prestigious training ground and encourage further business from trainers and owners in the future.

PLAY SMARTER
Thevote goesto IMPERIALCULT,whowas narrowlydenied in his hat-trick bid overC&D last month following back-to-back wins on the all-weather at Lingfield. He wasn’t disgraced in a pretty competitive Goodwood handicap recently (probably wasn’t ideally suited by going right-handed) and remains on a workable mark. Mrembo does most of her racing on quicker ground but she will be a threat if coping with conditions, while Thursday is third choice ahead of Daphne May.

Marginal preference is for ENOCHDHU, who has edged back down to an attractive mark, the forecast slow ground will be in his favour and he will hopefully get a strong pace to aim at Haliphon did the job well at Haydock recently and is a big player under a penalty, while Parramount is also shortlisted, along with Liseo
