Steve Donoghue was the leading English Flat jockey of the 1910s and 1920s. He was Champion Jockey 10 times between 1914 and 1923

Steve won the Derby on six occasions – Pommern 1915, Gay Crusader 1917, Humorist 1921, Captain Cuttle 1922, Papyrus 1923 and Manna 1925 He also won the Oaks twice – with My Dear in 1918 and Exhibitionist in 1937, the year in which he retired from riding.

Steve is the only jockey to have ridden two Triple Crown winners (2000 Guineas, Derby, St Leger) on Pommern and Gay Crusader
