I would like to extend a warm Curragh welcome to you today for the fifth meeting of the 2025 racing season at the Curragh – the first day of our Tattersalls Guineas Weekend. We are delighted to be hosting the first Classics of the year as the Flat season in Ireland gains momentum.
Last year we had 70 different winning trainers at the Curragh and a strong British challenge was a feature of the year. Our 11 Group 1 races were shared amongst 8 winning trainers, and we enjoyed some outstanding racing. Once again, this year we are seeing a good spread of winners at the Curragh and are delighted at the number of English trained runners this weekend.
In 2025 we will race 24 times in total with the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby scheduled for Sunday June 29th. We have increased our prize money again with the focus on our Listed, Group 3 races and better class handicaps. We are grateful for the support of Horse Racing Ireland and our race sponsors who are critical to underpinning prize money levels here at the Curragh.
Today’s race sponsors are the Irish European Breeders Fund, Cavalor Equine Nutrition, McGuinness Maintenance Services, QuinnBet, Ryans Cleaning Services and of course Scott Heider and the Heider family who sponsor our feature race, the Gallinule Stakes. Your support is greatly appreciated, and I hope you all have a great day.
I would also like to thank the owners of runners here this evening - we hope your experience at the Curragh is a good one and that you will relax and enjoy your day in the Tattersalls Owners Club located on Level 2 of the racecourse.
Thank you for running your horse at the Curragh.
Please try out our café Orby’s by Lucy which is beside the parade ring and is open seven days a week, Lilywhites Bar and the various facilities in Champions Hall, including our Big Screen. To watch the racing, seating is available for all patrons throughout the final furlong at the front of the stand. We are always interested in hearing customer feedback. After racing, please stay to enjoy the ultimate Classic hits line up in Champions Hall
We race here again at the Curragh again tomorrow and Sunday for the first classics of the Irish flat season, the Tattersalls Irish 2000 and 1000 Guineas. We look forward to welcoming you back here both days for some wonderful racing.
Best wishes for a memorable evening’s racing.

The Handicapper allots ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicapper to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring penalties and allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicapped races the rating shown is that each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

NOODLES has shown promise on both previous outings and should be suited by this step up in trip The Dream Ahead gelding was beaten less than a length on debut here in March and was again putting in his best work at the finish when fourth to Joyful Tidings at Tipperary, with Sup Of Red just a short head back in fifth. The latter also made a promising start at Cork and is another for the shortlist, while Glitter And Glory didn’t enjoy the clearest of runs on debut at Naas. Ipanema Queen, Dakota Dancer, Allsortz and Cuban Princess are among the newcomers to keep a close eye on in the market.

VALENCIA kept good company in three outings last year, including when runner-up to the smart Swelter over a mile at Leopardstown, and she was also fourth behind better-fancied stablemate Apples And Bananas over C&D in the Goffs Million. Poweracclaim didn’t enjoy much luck in running before keeping on nicely inside the final furlong when fifth to Varshini on debut over this trip at Gowran and can improve past the consistent Gran Habano, who was just ahead in third. Aidan O’Brien has been dominating Derby trials this season and SHACKLETON could be another winner for the Ballydoyle trainer The son of Camelot landed the odds in a 1m1f maiden here last autumn before finishing third in the Group 3 Zetland Stakes at Newmarket, and riding arrangements suggest he’s preferred to Thrice, who was no match for stablemate Lambourn in the Chester Vase Reyenzi scored in impressive fashion on soft ground in a 1m2f Navan maiden last month, while it looks significant that Dylan Browne McMonagle rides Emit instead of Cork maiden winner Dawn Spirit.

At every race meeting there are specially qualified equine veterinary surgeons on duty to look after the wellbeing of all the horses racing. There is a vet in attendance at the start of each race who, follows the horses throughout the race and is quickly on hand if an injury occurs.
It is normal procedure to erect screens around any horse receiving veterinary treatment.
This allows the veterinary surgeon some privacy to fully assess the horses’ injuries and race goers should not assume the worst if screens are erected around an injured horse.
The Blue Cross ambulance is always present to transport the horse back to the stable yard for further treatment if necessary.
A second veterinary surgeon is in attendance in the stable yard to assess and treat any horses requiring such attention post race. The horses’ welfare is always our priority.

Lightly raced on turf in recent times, the Johnny Murtagh-trained DAAMBERDIPLOMAT could represent some value A maiden winner over course and distance, the five-year-old has shown up well in three subsequent visits to this track. Nicely drawn and fit from a recent all-weather campaign, the son of Cotai Glory has plenty in his favour The handicapper has also given the gelding a chance by dropping him down to his last winning mark. Having shaped with plenty of promise over 5f here on his reappearance, the Eddie Lynam-trained Keke should appreciate the additional furlong and is noted along with stablemate Collective Power

Having caught the eye staying on late over 7f here earlier this month, AUBURN AVENUE should appreciate this additional furlong. A consistent filly last term, the four-year-old had disappointed on her seasonal debut when down the field at Cork. However, she had valid excuses as trainer Chris Timmons had indicated that his string were a bit behind. With two runs under her belt, the daughter of Phoenix Of Spain should be spot on for this assignment. Pier Pressure, who was slowly away at Roscommon last time, has every chance if breaking on terms. Cork winner Port Louis has to be considered too WIN: AUBURN AVENUE
DANGER: Pier Pressure
