WELCOME
Welcome to The Christmas Raceday
Our fifth fixture of the season and I would like to welcome you to The Christmas Raceday. It’s December and it’s really starting to ‘feel a bit like Christmas’ so I wish you all an enjoyable day. We have already had a great start to the season welcoming many thousands of people and seeing some fantastic horses and close finishes. We are sure today will be equally as exciting and I thank you for your continued support.
I would like to thank our Partners; BetGoodwin, Southern Cranes and Access Ltd and Strong Flavours for their tremendous support for the 2024/25 Season, along with today’s sponsors Nosh, Extech, Michael O’Shea, Joos Solar, Charles Stanley, Friends and Family of Robert Watts and Weatherbys. We wish you all have a tremendous day.
We have a cracking 7 race card today, with 63 runners declared worth over £60,000 of prize money so we are in for a cracking day. We have two feature races today, The Accerlerating Innovation Novices Handicap Steeple Chase and The Charles Stanley Handicap Steeple Chase, both worth £11,000 in prizemoney.
Make sure you visit our Christmas market located next to the Final Fence Restaurant as there will be many gifts that you can purchase, ideal with only 24 days before Christmas Day.
Our Retired Racehorse Stable has been very well received and today we are lucky to have De Barley Basket, who ran 18 times during his career winning 5 races and being placed a further 5 times. He is located next to the Parade Ring so pop down and give him a polo and a pat.
Our next fixture, Festive Fun Raceday, 16th December will be our final raceday before Christmas, so we hope to see many of you back here then. It is always such a great atmosphere both on and off the track, with the Christmas jumpers, live music, hot chestnuts, Christmas Market and competitive racing. This year we will also be singing Christmas carols in and around the Parade Ring after racing so make sure you put this into your diary.
Our first raceday of 2025 will be our Premier Raceday on the 5th January featuring not only the Sussex National won last Season by Dom Of Mary but also our Sussex Stayers Hurdle worth £75,000 won by Transmission and ridden by Joe Anderson who provided one of the best rides of the year. This day will have a total prize fund of £201,000. We will also have plenty of activities on the day for all the family, including an Ice-Skating Ring and as this raceday is always in high demand, make sure you book admission tickets or hospitality now not to miss out.
Craig Staddon Chief Executive
Have a great day at Plumpton, Heart Of The Community.
Best wishes,
Stewards

JULIUS DES PICTONS ticks plenty of boxes having returned to action with a creditable second at Uttoxeter on his first start for Jamie Snowden. He found only Western Knight, a subsequent winner at Ascot too good that day, and could have the measure of Geturguccion on the strength of that form. The latter was no match for the winner when runner-up at Ludlow, but that was her first attempt over hurdles and another good account seems likely. The bumper winner Go West is also worth noting on his hurdling bow.
totewin: Julius Des Pictons
toteeachway: Geturguccion
THEONLYWAYISWESSEX finished clear of the rest when runner-up over course and distance last month. Alan King’s inmate looks up to winning off his current mark on that evidence and gets another chance. Ede’iffs Rock is only 3lb higher than when scoring over hurdles here on her latest outing and can feature if taking to the larger obstacles, while Givehimthehonour debuts for new connections and is worth a second glance on his second start over fences. totewin: Theonlywayiswessex
toteeachway: Ede’iffs Rock
3 FROMHERETOETERNITY represents an in-form yard and makes plenty of appeal despite giving weight away to all of her rivals. Experience can win the day as she’s 2-10 over timber and has improved markedly since cheekpieces were applied for this new stable. Korus went close to winning at Huntingdon on his debut over timber and will likely prove competitive, while Confinentic should have more to offer. An interesting import from Ireland, Master Dunraven is another to note.
totewin: Fromheretoeternity
toteeachway: Korus
BATWOMEN left the impression that she still had plenty more to offer when she scored cosily, despite showing signs of greenness, at Fontwell in October. Notably, that was only her third start over hurdles and a 5lb higher mark looks potentially lenient. Macari and Bertie B are solid options for the shortlist, although any support in the betting for recent course second Inferno Sacree would also be tempting.
totewin: Batwomen
toteeachway: Macari
With ground conditions likely to be ideal, dual C&D winner BORN AT MIDNIGHT is a solid contender bidding to add to his tally despite going up 5lb for a one-length defeat on his most recent attempt over track and trip in April. Jessie Lightfoot could pose the selection the most problems with Imogen Mathias now able to utilise her full 7lb claim after partnering the veteran to third at Cheltenham most recently. Lady Balko and I See You Well look the pick of the remainder.
totewin: Born At Midnight
toteeachway: Jessie Lightfoot
It looks best to side with ASK HER OUT, who filled the runner-up spot at Hereford in October before occupying the same position at Fontwell last time and, from 1lb higher, she must hold every chance of going a place better. A switch to handicap company could spark improvement from Scotch On Da Rocks and he merits consideration along with Sullivan Bay, who has been in winning form on the Flat recently.
totewin: Ask Her Out
7
toteeachway: Scotch On Da Rocks
KINGSTON QUEEN cost 80,000 pounds after winning an Irish point in March and she was not disgraced when filling third place on her Rules debut in a Chepstow bumper a month ago. With the benefit of that experience, David Pipe’s filly could be hard to stop here. Tiptoptim also scored between the flags and should not be underestimated, while any market support for Twist Of Fatecatch would have to be noted.
totewin: Kingston Queen
toteeachway: Tiptoptim

TIPTOPTIM has transferred to a yard with a really good record in bumpers on the back of an Irish point win in the spring so he may well be up to the job on Rules bow. Kinston Queen also won between the flags and sets the standard on her placed effort at Chepstow, with Twist of Fatecatch another likely type on paper.
THE GREAT BRITISH BONUS
The Great British Bonus (GBB) offers multiple bonuses of up to £20,000 per eligible race for British-bred fillies and mares.

Horse and Jockey Welfare
The welfare of the sports equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of licensed trainers. The standards demanded by the BHA far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The BHA similarly licenses racecourses setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course.
At every race meeting at Plumpton there are three specially qualified Equine Vets appointed to look after the welfare of all the horses with two vets following the horses as they race and the third being based in the stable yard.
Parade Ring Access
In the interests of safety, access to the parade ring is strictly limited to Owners and Trainers with runners in the race, BHA and Racecourse Officials who are on duty at the meeting and Emergency Service Personnel. Those people holding badges or accreditation that allow access to the parade ring are asked to refrain from entering the parade ring unless absolutely necessary.
