RACING

WIN ONLY The most common form of bet. You win if your horse is first past the post. Example: £5 win at 8/1 would return £45 (8 x £5 = £40 + £5 stake)
EACH WAY Backing a horse to win or be placed. This doubles your bet – for example: £5 each way = £5 to win and £5 for a place = £10 total stake
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
• Fewer than 4 runners - all on to win
• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2
• 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3
• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3
• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3,4
• Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3,4
Some bookmakers also offer ‘betting without the favourite’, where you can back your selection at reduced odds to either win or finish second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite. You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker on course as they operate with Administration Of Gambling On Tracks Ltd. (AGT) approval. In the unlikely event of a dispute with a bookmaker, please call upon the assistance of the AGT Betting Ring Manager, who can be found on the ground floor of the Grandstand Enclosure. The AGT also offers a ‘late pay ’ service in case the bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to: AGT, 3A Kings Hall, Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, PE27 4WY.
Experiencing the buzz of the betting ring may be a little daunting at first, but you will soon find it is very easy to place a bet. Here are some guidelines for racegoers to follow:
1. Each bookmaker will be offering slightly different prices, so shop around for the best odds against your selection
2. Call your bet clearly to the bookmaker by stating the name and / or number of your chosen horse and the stake
3. Listen to the bookmaker repeat your bet to his / her clerk and correct him immediately if any details are called wrongly
4. Make sure you obtain a ticket from the bookmaker and keep it safe
5. If your selection wins, hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. Never destroy or dispose of your ticket until after the “Weighed in” announcement has been made. Betting with the bookmaker is tax-free. Deductions are made only if a horse is withdrawn after the betting market has been formed.
Please check the minimum stake accepted by each bookmaker on his display board Some bookmakers do not take sums under £5, especially in the main betting ring, but there will be others who are happy to accept £2 bets. Please tender the correct change when possible.

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
15 Jockey’s photo If there is a number next to the name, this indicates that the jockey can claim that amount in weight (lbs) off the stated riding weight
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
A left-handed circular flat course, turning for most of the way, and finishing in a short straight which is less than two furlongs in length. The course suits the handy type of horse and a fast start is quite important in sprints. At just over a mile around this is the smallest course in Great Britain.

The horses which have dropped most in the weights from previous winning handicap marks in the last two years: 6.55 Bajan Bandit (won off 80 down 3lb to 77); 8.25 Never Dark (won off 82 down 6lb to 76); Paws For Thought (won off 87 down 7lb to 80).
The following horses are running today in a race at least two grades lower than their previous race: 6.25 CALICO BLUE (down 2 grades); 6.55 ANNSAR (down 2 grades); 6.55 MIAMI MATRIX (down 2); 7.25 ROCK MUSIC (down 2 grades); 8.25 HARVANNA (down 2 grades).
8.55 ROGUE DYNASTY has moved from D Loughnane to James Owen.
CHAMPION ISLAND comfortably got off the mark on his first go over 7f at Chelmsford last time out and a mark of 77 for his nursery debut looks manageable. A determined winner over shorter at Newcastle most recently, Sir Albert must enter calculations for in-form connections. Steel Drum produced a career-best effort when second at Kempton and can continue to go the right way.
WIN: CHAMPION ISLAND
DANGER: SIR ALBERT
CALICO BLUE improved from his first to his second start to score comfortably over C&D and a 6lb penalty for that success may not be enough to prevent him from going in again. A promising fourth, despite a tardy start, on debut at Redcar in May, Blazing is open to improvement, along with Baybe Driver, who wasn’t disgraced when third over 5f at Goodwood.
WIN: CALICO BLUE
DANGER: BLAZING
Slight preference is for MAYDAY MALONE, who deservedly broke the maiden when holding on to score over 7f here last month. A 3lb rise could prove lenient and going up slightly in distance should not inconvenience him as he looks to see off recent C&D winner Vixey and old rival Miami Matrix, who got the better of him over track and trip last month. The consistent White Crown Star cannot be ruled out either.
WIN: MAYDAY MALONE
DANGER: VIXEY
Princess Rascal opened her account at Salisbury in May, but reopposing runner-up CLUB CLASS could reverse the placings on the revised terms. James Fanshawe’s filly enjoys a 7lb pull with the daughter of Pinatubo and a breakthrough victory may be in the offing. Brielle and turf debutant Miss Herschel both look capable of scoring at this level and add further spice to the mix.
WIN: CLUB CLASS
DANGER: PRINCESS RASCAL
PATAGONIA GIRL continued her progression when completing a double over C&D in ready fashion. A 5lb higher mark for Hugo Palmer’s filly looks workable and further glory could be imminent. Stablemate Grey Cuban filled the runner-up berth over track and trip last month, but a 2lb rise demands more from the four-year-old. With that in mind, a bigger threat may emerge from Epsom runner-up Dream Harder.
WIN: PATAGONIA GIRL
DANGER: DREAM HARDER
Abbey Heights has struck in two of his last three outings and is likely to have his supporters, but with both victories coming on the all-weather and an awkward draw in stall seven, it may be best to side with NAZRON. Ivan Furtado’s four-year-old was just touched off in a stronger event at this venue last month and the assessor might have let him off lightly with just a 2lb rise. With a similar performance, he will prove tough to beat. Maharajas Express is another to note.
WIN: NAZRON
DANGER: ABBEY HEIGHTS
PETRA CELERA failed to supplement her Wolverhampton success when filling the runner-up spot at Leicester, but that was still a fair effort. The daughter of Inns Of Court is well drawn in stall two and she can continue her progression. Mrbluesky recorded his first career victory at Newcastle in February and as long as Richard Fahey’s threeyear-old can transfer that form to turf, he could have a say. Of the remainder, Winter Crown makes the most appeal.
WIN: PETRA CELERA
DANGER: MRBLUESKY

RACE DESCRIPTION
This is a seven furlongs handicap race for two-year-olds only which have been rated from 0 to 95 In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

At all of our race meetings, there are three equine vets on duty They are equipped and positioned to give immediate care to a horse should it require it. This may involve screens being erected around a horse to give the veterinary team privacy to administer treatment and does not necessarily mean the worst. The same applies with doctors and jockeys.

A 3-y-o has won this for 4 of the last 5 seasons so it might be best to narrow it down to the younger generation. MIAMI MATRIX had the form of June’s C&D success boosted when the reopposing runner-up Mayday Malone bagged a decent race here a fortnight ago and can show he’s still on a favourable mark. Michael Bell’s charge should also go well again, while the consistent White Crown Star can also figure for last year’s winning trainer Andrew Balding.

This contest is another Novice Stakes, this time run over a distance of one mile and two furlongs. There are a variety of reasons why the three-year-olds in this race are still light on experience. Stoutly bred horses are unlikely to be seen at their best over the shorter distances of their juvenile season whilst a setback or injury can curtail even the most precociously bred horse’s two-year-old career

This is a one mile and two furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 76 to 95 Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 6lb

LET’S DREAM: Following its run on 14/6/2025 it was reported that the horse ran too free.
Probable S.P.’s: 4-1 Love Beach (IRE), 5-1 Grey Cuban (GB), 11-2 Dream Harder (IRE), Patagonia Girl (GB), 7-1 Daiquiri Bay (GB), 8-1 Chartwell Jock (GB), 11-1 Liberty Coach (GB), 18-1 Let’s Dream (GB)
An intriguing handicap with the narrow vote in favour of James Fanshawe’s LOVE BEACH He surpassed the form showed as a juvenile when getting the better of a subsequent winner in a Haydock maiden (8.2f) 6 weeks ago and he very much appeals as the type to go on improving now his stamina is tested further Daiquiri Bay shaped well in a big-field Royal Ascot handicap last time and he’s feared. Hugo Palmer pair Patagonia Girl and Grey Cuban complete the shortlist.
The Great British Bonus (GBB) offers multiple bonuses of up to £20,000 per eligible race for British-bred fillies and mares
for four yrs old and upwards
Total prize fund £15000
Owners Prize Money 1st £6095, 2nd £3048, 3rd £1524, 4th £762, 5th £381, 6th £191. (Penalty Value £7731) Weights raised 1lb and paragraphs 27 to 31 of the Weights and Handicapping Code complied with where applicable.
This is a five and a half furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 66 to 85 Like most handicaps on the flat this race is also open to horses that are rated below that particular band. However, all handicaps stipulate a minimum weight and no runner can carry less than that, irrespective of how low their rating is. This is often described as ‘running from out of the handicap and is considered a disadvantage.

This is a seven furlong handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 51 to 70
To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap In simple terms a horse rated 70 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 65

James Owen fields two, namely ROGUE DYNASTY and Little Keilee, and they’re both appealing from handy draws. The former is particularly interesting on her debut for the yard, having shown ability in novice events on the all-weather at 2 yrs and the run was probably needed when nearer last than first on her reappearance/handicap debut at Newmarket. It goes without saying that confidence behind her in the betting would look significant. Petra Celera and Winter Crown are also key players.
