WELCOME TO Welcome to The William Hill Showcase It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Cheltenham Racecourse for the opening fixture of the 2026/27 season. Whether you are a familiar face returning to Cheltenham or joining us for the very first time, we are delighted to have you with us as we look forward to what promises to be a fantastic day of racing. The summer has been a particularly busy period at the Racecourse as we embark on an ambitious programme of investment and improvements, which will continue over the coming years. Our initial focus has been on refurbishing the bars within the Grandstand, enhancing our PA system and delivering a number of smaller projects, all aimed at improving the experience for our racegoers. We also have some exciting plans taking shape ahead of The Festival in 2027 and beyond, which we look forward to sharing with you in due course. We are extremely fortunate to benefit from the generous support of our race sponsors, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to William Hill, Moet, Pertemps and Masterson Holding. Their continued commitment and support are hugely valued and play an important role in making racedays such as this possible. There is always a special sense of excitement and anticipation as racing returns to Cheltenham, and The Showcase marks the beginning of what we hope will be another memorable National Hunt season. With plenty to look forward to today, it is wonderful to have you joining us for the occasion. Thank you for choosing to come along – we will do our very best to ensure you have a great time.

Make The Most of Your Day at Cheltenham Racecourse Three Tips for The Showcase Experience
We know that our racegoers have traditions and routines, many that have lasted for decades. However, we want to let everyone know about three special things you might not have experienced, or known about before that might help you enjoy this visit or future visits to our racecourse.
Tommy Atkins Bar - VISIT The Tommy Atkins Bar wasn’t named after a famous jockey, trainer or owner, instead the name refers to a traditional slang term for common private soldier in the British Army. The recently renovated Tommy Atkins Bar is located in a room that was once utilised as a “mess” room for a soldier who were convalescing at the racecourse, when it was re purposed as a military hospital during the First World War.
The Favourite Membership – BUY Over the summer we have made significant changes to our Annual Membership offer. We are pleased to introduce the Favourite Membership, which has attracted over 1000 new members who have highlighted the incredible value for money on offer as their reason to join. Enjoy all 16 of meetings and loads of additional benefits more from just £245 (Concessions 18-28, Over 65s and International Members). Visit the Customer Service Hub.
The Centaur – EXPERIENCE “It’s huge!” is what racegoers say when they first experience the racecourse’s largest indoor space, The Centaur. Lots of seating, plenty of bars, food and coffee, bookmakers and giant screen to watch the racing on. It’s no wonder that some people just come to Cheltenham and spend the whole day soaking up the unique atmosphere of The Centaur, especially if it’s chilly or wet outside.

FROM THE SHOWCASE TO THE FESTIVAL
Winners at the Festival to have also run at the William Hill Showcase in the same season since 2020 listed on the timeline below. Cheltenham’s new season gets underway with The William Hill Showcase (Friday and Saturday, October 23rd and 24th). Although it takes place just under five months’ prior, The William Hill Showcase often throws up some valuable pointers for The Festival (which takes place between Tuesday 16th and Friday 19th March inclusive in 2027). Since 2008, when The William Hill Showcase assumed its present format, a total of 22 runners from the two days in October have gone on to score at The Cheltenham Festival in the same season. The range of Festival winners to have started out at The William Hill Showcase runs all the way through to take in future Grade One winners such as The Real Whacker, The New One and Moon Racer, as well as handicappers and cross-country legends. As recently as last season, Supremely West began his career with a third place for Dan and Harry Skelton in a Pertemps Qualifier before going on to success in the final of that series at The Festival.

‘For 100 years, Cheltenham Animal Shelter has been part of the local community, helping animals in need and the people who care about them. We care for, rehabilitate and rehome cats, dogs and small animals, giving them the veterinary treatment, behavioural support and time they need to get back on their paws. Every year, hundreds of animals come through our doors looking for a second chance. But our work goes beyond the Shelter. We help local pet owners too, with practical advice, education and affordable services including veterinary care, grooming, boarding and our pet food bank. We also work with schools, community groups and families to help people understand how to care for animals and keep them happy and healthy. For 100 years, the support of local people has made all of this possible. That support has helped us care for thousands of animals and, in doing so, support thousands of people in our community too. We are really excited about the Santa Paws Fun Run in Pittville Park on Sunday 6th December in aid of the pets at Cheltenham Animal Shelter. We would also like to thank Cheltenham Rotary for organising a prize from the Jockey Club to raffle on the day, and the Jockey Club for choosing us to benefit from a bucket collection during their meet on 24th October.
Supporting us today means helping to make sure we can still be here for animals and people for the next 100 years’.

KATATE DORI represents a yard that often has their horses cherry-ripe for their early season targets and is 3lb lower than when going close at C&D on New Year’s Day, so gets the verdict. Diamond Dealer had a very good time of things last season for Dan Skelton and has to be respected on his comeback, whilst Here Comes Georgie rates as an interesting recruit for that powerful yard.

Anthony Honeyball took this race last year and he can repeat the feat with CATCHINTSAVO, who excelled himself when finishing runner-up in Grade 1 company at the Aintree festival and is every inch a chaser. Butch Cassidy has found his feet in this discipline and arriving on a hat-trick, he can provide most resistance. Derryhassen Paddy looked far from a natural on his chasing bow 11 months ago, but he’s entitled to do better. TIMEFORM PREDICTION: 1.CATCHINTSAVO (IRE) 2.BUTCH CASSIDY (IRE) 3.DERRYHASSEN PADDY (IRE)

IMPORTANT
NOTICES
PARADE RING ACCESS In the interests of safety, access to the parade ring is strictly limited to Owners and Trainers with runners in the race, British Horseracing Authority Officials and Racecourse Officials who are on duty at the meeting and Emergency Service Personnel. Those people holding badges or accreditation that allow access to the Parade Ring are asked to refrain from entering this area unless it is absolutely necessary in the course of their business.
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Cheltenham Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
IN-RUNNING BETTING Please note that in-running betting is not allowed in any public areas of Cheltenham Racecourse. Any racegoer found to be in breach of this rule will be removed from the racecourse. For the full terms and conditions of entry, please visit the racecourse website.
TOUTS JCR is taking strong action against touts. Touting is seen by some as a legitimate way of buying or selling last minute tickets but many tickets sold by touts are fraudulent or counterfeit. An injunction has been issued preventing touting at the Racecourse. You could yourself be breaking the law by dealing with a tout. Genuine tickets sales are available at all the entrances or in advance via the Racecourse website.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS All you do at the Racecourse including transactions as well as entry onto the Racecourse are subject to the Terms and Conditions. For details see the Racecourse Website www.cheltenham. co.uk. A copy is also available at the Racecourse Office.
