WELCOME TO

Welcome to The November Meeting – Super Saturday

Hello and a very warm welcome back to Cheltenham Racecourse for the second day of

The November Meeting, one of the most anticipated weekends in the Jump racing calendar

Today we celebrate Super Saturday, one of our biggest racedays of the season. The day features top-quality action on the track, with many of the sport’s leading owners, trainers, and jockeys competing for prestigious prizes

The morning’s build-up begins in The Centaur at 11.00am with the Paddy Power Preview Panel, hosted by Paul Jacobs alongside Ruby Walsh and Harry Cobden Then at 12.00pm in the Winners’ Enclosure, join Martin Kelly, Ally Vance, and Hayley Moore for the Official Raceday Preview Show, where our panel of experts will share their insight into the afternoon’s racing and horses to watch. Today’s highlight is the iconic Paddy Power Gold Cup, run this year in memory of the late, great Eddie O’Grady – a towering presence in Irish Jump racing for over half a century.

His record at The Festival was exceptional, and his pioneering achievements helped pave the way for the remarkable success enjoyed by Irish-trained horses in recent decades. On behalf of Cheltenham Racecourse and Paddy Power, our sincere thanks go to the O’Grady family for helping us to honour Edward in this way.

The race itself promises to be an epic renewal, with Il Ridoto bidding to defend his crown and last season’s TrustATrader Plate winner Jagwar looking to repeat his Cheltenham Festival triumph. Expect a thrilling contest worthy of the great man’s memory

Before racing gets underway, don’t miss the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) Parade at 11.45am in the Parade Ring This inspiring showcase highlights the versatility of the Thoroughbred and the incredible range of second careers available to former racehorses, thanks to the work of Retraining of Racehorses, British horseracing’s official charity for retired racehorse welfare

Last year’s parade featured well-known names such as Bristol De Mai, Coneygree, and Pineau de Re

Live music will be performed today across the site LAMPA will be in the Guinness Village before racing, between races, and after the final race Their set includes a mix of Irish songs and wellknown pop tracks. Richard James will perform at the Tattersalls Sales Arena Bar between races and again following the last race, providing a varied programme of familiar tunes. After racing, The Centaur will host The After Party with an hour of acoustic music Please note that capacity will be limited inside the Centaur

The 50:50 Raffle continues today following its hugely popular debut earlier this season Don’t miss your chance to win big while supporting the Gold Cup Community Fund, helping local charities and community initiatives.

We extend our sincere thanks to today’s sponsors: Paddy Power, JCB, Debenhams, and The Cheltenham Guardians Safeguarding, for their generous support in making today’s raceday possible

We hope you’ll join us again tomorrow for the final day of The November Meeting – Carnival Sunday, promising a vibrant celebration of colour, music, and more top-class racing action to round off a spectacular weekend.

Whether this is your first visit or a welcome return, thank you for being part of The November Meeting, our biggest fixture outside of The Festival Enjoy the magic and spirit of Super Saturday here at Cheltenham Racecourse, The Home of Jump Racing

Enjoy your day.

DON’T FORGET OUR NEXT MEETING: Sunday 16 November

Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.

Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.

Don’t miss the Parade of former racehorses at 11:45am - 12:00pm in Parade Ring!

Join us in the Parade Ring before the first race for the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) Parade, celebrating the versatility of former racehorses and the thriving second careers made possible through RoR, the official charity of British Horseracing dedicated to the welfare of horses retired from racing.

This year’s parade features ten remarkable horses, many former champions, now excelling in disciplines such as showing, dressage, eventing, and hunting. No matter their background or experience, all are enjoying active, fulfilling second careers thanks to careful retraining and dedicated care.

At RoR, our mission is to safeguard the wellbeing of all former racehorses, helping them find new purpose and loving homes once they retire. We provide education and support to owners, ensure traceability through membership, and offer a welfare safety net for horses in need. RoR also runs over 35 competition series annually, catering to all levels—from grassroots to elite—helping stimulate interest in former racehorses across the wider equestrian market.

JAGWAR was one of the most progressive horses in training over fences last term, winning 4 of his 5 starts, culminating in success in the Plate at the Festival. Looking every inch a graded performerin the making, he’s fancied to defy the assessor again and bag another big prize. Vincenzo signed off last season with a fine second at Newbury and is feared for the red-hot Sam Thomas stable Panic Attack, Thecompanysergeant and last year’s winner Il Ridoto are also considered.

SMARTER

SUPREMELY WEST shaped most encouragingly on his first start for Dan Skelton when third of 17 to the promising Ma Shantou over C&D 3 weeks ago and, with the timefigure supporting the performance, he’s a confident selection to confirm the promise of that run and come out on top. Long Draw finished only a place behind the selection in the aforementioned race and is slightly better off at the weights, so promises to go well again, with the lightly-raced Kikijo also feared.

All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment.
