WELCOME TO

Welcome to The November Meeting – Countryside Day

Hello and a very warm welcome back to Cheltenham Racecourse for the opening day of The November Meeting, one of the most anticipated weekends in the Jump racing calendar.

Today we celebrate Countryside Day, a wonderful occasion that brings together rural life, heritage and top-class racing We’re delighted to once again welcome the Countryside Alliance for their continued support of this special day, as we honour the traditions and communities that form the heart of the countryside.

Before racing gets underway, there’s plenty to enjoy across the racecourse The morning begins in the Parade Ring at 11.00am with the Hunt Horses and Hounds Parade, a traditional spectacle celebrating the partnership between hounds, horses and Hunt Staff At 11.20am, make your way to The Centaur for the Paddy Power Preview Show, where Paul Jacobs will be joined by Ruby Walsh and Harry Cobden to discuss today’s card and share their thoughts on the season ahead Following a short break, attention returns to the Parade Ring at 11.55am for a captivating Birds of Prey Display, a fascinating insight into these magnificent creatures in full flight. Then at 12.30pm, join Martin Kelly and Hayley Moore in the Winners’ Enclosure for our Official Raceday Preview Show, offering expert insight into the afternoon’s action and horses to watch.

The racing action promises to be exciting Our feature race of the day, the Shloer Steeplechase, sees the return of the ever-popular Jonbon, who has claimed this race for the past two years. Standing in his way are a few familiar rivals, including former Festival winner Edwardstone, as well as L’Eau du Sud, an exciting new contender for this season’s two-mile Champion Chase division following last season’s dramatic Arkle at The Cheltenham Festival Elsewhere on the card, a host of fascinating novice hurdle and chase contests may well unearth the next big star of the season.

Another highlight of the afternoon is the continuation of the Unibet Middle Distance Veterans’ Chase Series, which we’re delighted to stage here today. This series provides a wonderful platform for experienced chasers to continue their careers at a highly competitive level. Keep an eye out for familiar Cheltenham names such as Fugitif and Eldorado Allen, who feature among today’s field

The 50:50 Raffle returns following a fantastic debut during The Showcase Meeting, giving racegoers the chance to win big while supporting a great cause Be sure to take part and help make a difference to the Gold Cup Community Fund

Whilst the forecast for today is on the wet side, we have a plethora of undercover spaces across the racecourse to keep you dry and comfortable throughout the day. With our new refurbished bars, there are plenty of options to relax, refuel and take shelter from the elements. Highlights include the brand-new Cheltenham Retreat beside the Guinness Village, the ever-popular Quevega’s Food Court, and the See You Then Terrace, each offering a great selection of food, drink and atmosphere Wherever you choose to settle, there’s ample space to enjoy a bite to eat and a drink while staying cosy and dry.

In The Guinness Village, Cheltenham favourites LAMPA return with a lively mix of Irish favourites and greatest hits performed throughout the day. After racing, the fun continues with an hour of post-racing music – the perfect way to round off your day with friends at The Home of Jump Racing. Over in The Centaur, join Tommy and The Fuse for an hour of feel-good acoustic tunes, the ideal soundtrack to unwind and soak up the atmosphere after an action-packed afternoon

We extend our sincere thanks to today’s sponsors: Lycetts Insurance Brokers, Unibet, The Sun, Shloer, Albert Bartlett and Valda Energy, for their generous support in making today’s raceday possible

Whether this is your first visit or a welcome return, thank you for being part of The November Meeting, our biggest fixture outside of The Festival Enjoy the magic and spirit of Countryside Day here at Cheltenham Racecourse, the Home of Jump Racing

Enjoy your day.

‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.

Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.

Irish raiders HEADS UP and Welonlyhavedone both look very promising and they could be the pair to concentrate on. Marginal preference is forthe former, who tables the best piece of bumper form courtesy of his second in the Champion Bumper here in March and he barely put a foot wrong on debut in this sphere at Listowel Welonlyhavedone is unlucky not to be 2-2 over hurdles and he’s greatly respected. THE EXPENSIVE ONE: Following its run on 24/10/2025 it was reported that the horse’s saddle slipped.

Probable S.P’s: 6-1 Alphonse Le Grande (IRE), 13-2 Fortune de Mer (IRE), 9-1 Bruant (GB), 11-1 French Emperor (FR), 14-1 Jack Hyde (IRE), Frontier Prince (GB), Lucky Bere (FR), 16-1 Shade of Winter (IRE), The Expensive One (IRE), Katakana (FR), 18-1 Pure Gold (GB), 22-1 Amancio (GB), Aeroplane Blonde (GB), 40-1 Quint Major (IRE), Sage Green (IRE), Bobby’s Fortune (IRE), 66-1 Farhh Echo (IRE), 100-1 Doctor Glide (FR)

This could go the way of FORTUNE DE MER, who showed the benefit of his hurdling debut when winning a Grade 2 novice at this C&D last month, travelling strongly with a hood applied. He can progress further in handicaps and is preferred to Alphonse le Grande, who has developed into a useful stayer on the Flat since last seen over hurdles. Jack Hyde and The Expensive One complete the shortlist.

RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Cheltenham Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
