Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.
FREE FUN ZONE
If you are attending with younger racegoers, there will be lots of free activities in the Hall of Fame throughout TheApril Meeting including arts and crafts for them to enjoy, as well as a mechanical horse (an equicizer), which the children can have a go on whilst wearing jockeys’silks.

The Matt Hampson Foundation inspires and supports young people seriously injured through sport. Through expert physiotherapy, specialist personal training, support, mentoring and advice, the Foundation helps people with life-changing injuries to get busy living again.

The centre’s doors were opened in 2018 and is the brainchild of founder and ex-England and Leicester Tigers rugby player Matt Hampson, who himself experienced a life-changing injury in 2005 leaving him paralysed from the neck down, aged just 20.

By becoming part of the community that Matt has created, beneficiaries of the Foundation are able to draw on the experience and knowledge of people who have been on the same journey. They develop the tools and skills they need to
move on as they start to rebuild their lives. The centre becomes a place where they can be part of a strong and active social scene as they retrain themselves to focus on what they can do - not what they can’t.
THE FOUNDATION IS BUSIER THAN EVER HELPING AN INCREASING NUMBER OF YOUNG PEOPLE SERIOUSLY INJURED THROUGH SPORT.

PLAY SMARTER
A long-standing and valuable handicap in which HELTENHAM gets the verdict to carry on his progression over the larger obstacles and bring up an impressive 4-timer for the in-form Dan & Harry Skelton team. The main danger could be Captain Tom Cat, who stopped the slide from a much-reduced mark underthis riderwhen runner-up at Plumpton 9 days ago and could well build on that effort, while Super Six and Gemirande are another couple who need considering.
TIMEFORM PREDICTION: 1.HELTENHAM (FR) 2.CAPTAIN TOM CAT (IRE) 3.SUPER SIX
GREAT BRITISH BONUS SCHEME
The Great British Bonus (GBB) offers multiple bonuses of up to £20,000 per eligible race for British-bred fillies and mares.

White is the new Orange
Pioneering research into how horses see the world is helping reduce risk in racing

The colour used on hurdles and fences at all racecourses across Britain has changed from orange to white.

•Horses see in a reduced number of colours and don't see orange and red as humans do.
•Research by Exeter University showed that the clarity of obstacles in racing for horses could be improved by the use of white, and British racing made the change

•Effects on any changes in faller rates are now being monitored.
•Changing the colour on fences is one part of a bigger body of work by the Horse Welfare Board and British Racing to continuously reduce risk in the sport

TIPTOP CAT might have found 3m on quickish ground a bit sharp last time. There’s nothing wrong with the form of his 3 1/4m Uttoxeter win prior to that and he’s taken to bounce back now faced with an increased stamina test against largely more exposed opposition. Max Dynamo ran well for a long way from out of the weights in the Midlands National and heads the dangers along with last-time-out Sedgefield winner Wake Up Early and Sam England’s No Cruise Yet.

PLAY SMARTER
THEATRE MAN had the run ofthe race when resuming winning ways at Kempton last month, but he’s done nothing but improve since being sent over hurdles and seems sure to give another good account from the front, so he’s an appealing candidate The Carpenter impressed at Newbury and looks a big threat with further progress on the cards, while Pikar’s Warwick win is backed up by the clock, so he must enter calculations as well.

TIMEFORM
SANTOS BLUE took another marked step forward and completed the hat-trick to boot when running out an impressive winner at Kelso last month and a 6lb higher mark shouldn’t prevent another bold bid from Dan Skelton’s progressive 6-y-o. Similar comments apply to Broadway Boy and he rates the chief threat on the back of his Market Rasen success. Hector Javilex and The Kniphand complete the shortlist.

IMPORTANT NOTICES
RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
