SENSORYROOM AT CHELTENHAM RACECOURSE

TheJockey Club has become the firsthorseracing organisation in the country to open apermanent sensory room on its premises, with facilities at both Cheltenham and Aintree Racecourses that will be available to anyone of anyage who mayneed it on a raceday.

Following aconsultation between TheJockey Club and the ‘Autism in Racing’ project, the decision was taken to open up facilities at both racecourses, which launched on race days at Cheltenham’sNovember Meeting and on Boylesports Becher Chase DayatAintree in December respectively

Asensory room is aspecially designed room which provides comfort to people who have sensory processing problems, which can include people with autism.

Cheltenham Racecourse’ssensory room is situatedin4037 on the main grandstand and is open at all racedays Cheltenham Racecourse would liketothank Daniel Heaton Managing Director of AMPM, who has been paramount in helping us create the sensory room.

As alocal contractor,ampm construction are extremely proud to be involved in the creation of this amazing newfacility at Cheltenham Racecourse.The newsensory room is ahuge boostfor local children visiting the course and is something close to our hearts. ampm relished the chancetobeapart of the project and we would liketothank all oursuppliers and keypartners formaking it happen so quickly.

•A50% refund will be given if racing is abandoned beforethe thirdorfeaturerace. No cash refunds will be given on the day, but will be administeredbypostafter the meeting. Applications forrefunds should be sent within one month after the fixture except forThe Festival™ presented by Magners when refunds will be processed automatically.Norefunds will be given for tickets thatare purchased and then not required or used.

Admission Policy

Themanagement reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone,and to remove any person, without assigning areason if their behaviour is considered to be antisocial or likely to be disruptive.

Alcohol

Please would racegoers kindly notethatthe bringing of your ownalcoholic drink intothe Racecourse is strictly prohibited. Foryour ownenjoyment and to avoid disappointment please observethis restriction. Please respect our neighbours when leaving the racecourse

No alcohol is to be taken off site.

Benches

Please would racegoers refrain from standing on the benches on the lawns in front of the grandstands. As well as an obvious safety risk, it also blocksthe viewofanumber of your fellowracegoers

Regrettably,dogs other than guide dogs are not allowedwithin the enclosures.

Crossing TheCourse

Racegoers in Club maycross intothe centre of the course to watchraces.

Youwill be informed over the PA system if adecision has been made otherwise preventing access should it be felt the quality of the racing surfaceisbeing affected by racegoers crossing the course

Racegoers maynot crossback after arace until all horses have returned from the course and youhavebeen permitted to do so by the racecourse stewards.

Parade Ring Access

In the interests of safety,accesstothe parade ring is strictly limited to Owners and Trainers with runners in the race, British Horseracing Authority Officials and Racecourse Officials who areonduty at the meeting and EmergencyService Personnel. Those people holding badges or accreditation thatallowaccesstothe Parade Ring areasked to refrain from entering this area unlessitisabsolutely necessary in the course of their business.

Touts

JCR is taking strong action againsttouts. Touting is seen by some as alegitimate way of buying or selling lastminutetickets but manytickets sold by touts arefraudulent or counterfeit. An injunction has been issued preventing touting at the Racecourse Youcouldyourself be breaking the lawby dealing with atout. Genuine tickets sales are available at all the entrances or in advancevia the Racecourse website.

Racehorse &JockeyWelfare

Thewelfareofthe sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing.

All racehorses trained in Britain arestabled at the premises licensed by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA). Thestandards demanded by BHA of licensed racehorse trainers farexceed those prescribed by animal welfarelegislation.

Similarly,BHA licenses every racecourse, setting high standards forthe racing surfaceand all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine.BHA Officials and Cheltenham Racecourse staff work in conjunction to ensurethatthe higheststandards are met. In addition Cheltenham Racecourse employs eight veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide careto the horses throughout their time at the racecourse

In the event of an incident on the racecourse,any horse affected will receive immediate attention and treatment from the racecourse’sveterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors arealso on hand in the case of anyincident involving ajockey

If anyincident occurs during araceitis routine practicefor screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allowthe veterinary or medical personnel to makeasafeand accurate diagnosis and so thattheymay perform anytreatment in aprivateand calm environment. If necessary,horses and riders will be transported from the course to receivefurther treatment at the most appropriate equine hospital or Accident & Emergencyhospital.
