TODAY’S RACING
TODAY’S SPONSORS

Welcome to Chelmsford City Racecourse
We wish you a very warm welcome for an evening of racing, followed by music and dancing to the sounds of some of the greatest disco hits in the Sports Bar. Tonight is the first of our five fixtures in October, each one on successive Thursday evenings, so come and join us for a busy month of great racing.
There are eight races this evening for your entertainment with big fields, so solving the puzzle and finding some winners will not be easy, with every race looking very competitive. The 7.15pm race, The “Timeform Sprint Series Qualifier” Handicap, is the first of a series of ten qualifying races, which culminates on Thursday 18th December in a valuable £40,000 handicap. The first six home in any of the qualifying races will be eligible to run in the final. We thank Timeform for their sponsorship of this series and look forward to its exciting conclusion at the end of December.
Have a great evening...
Neil Graham Racing Director

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS

Timeform Rating
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
You must be 18 or over to place a bet
You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet
If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

Red Tsarina is penalised for winning over C&D last time. She could be in the mix once again, but WILD DAHLIA is taken to make the most of the weight concession. Nothing went right for the Haggas filly at Chester last month, but she’s better judged on her debut third over 7f at Newmarket behind the progressive Inis Mor and breeding suggests this extra yardage will suit. Iceni Queen is preferred to Urban Law of the newcomers.

DANDY’S ROCKET: Following its run on 24/9/2025 it was reported that the horse hung left-handed throughout.
Probable S.P’s: 7-2 Mehmas Air Force (IRE), 5-1 Dandy Speed (IRE), 6-1 Houdini Miss (IRE), 13-2 Uncertainty (IRE), 7-1 Anorah Unleashed (IRE), 11-1 Jack The Tooth (GB), 12-1 Lady Lysandra (GB), 16-1 Dandy’s Rocket (IRE), 25-1 Flying Macs (GB)
Plenty to consider with the market expected to prove informative. HOUDINI MISS produced another solid effort when third at Southwell 9 days ago, pulling clear with the front 2 in the process and could be the way to go back up at 7f. Mehmas Air Force, Uncertainty and Anorah Unleashed are just a trio of others worthy of a second look.

MALLORCA displayed plenty of promise when a short-head second to the subsequent Group 3 winner Merchant on his debut at Wolverhampton in December With that experience under his belt, the half-brother to the multiple Group 1 winner Too Darn Hot could prove very hard to beat. That said, Freddie’s Star may give him plenty to think about, while any market support for Kartini would have to be noted.

SUMMERTIME BLUES arrives here on the back of two victories in recent months and even a 5lb rise for the latest of those wins may not be enough to stop him from making it a hat-trick. The recent Kempton second Flag Carrier is likely to be in the mix once again off the same mark, while Bold Suitor edges out Capuchinero to be the pick of the remainder.

The recent Kempton winner Early Release has to be of interest once again, although a 6lb rise will make life tougher for him here As a result, the vote goes to CLOVER TIME, who bounced back to form when second over 6f at Lingfield last month and makes plenty of appeal of just 1lb higher. Sir Rodneyredblood hit the crossbar over 5f here three weeks ago and is another to consider.

The vote goes to PROFIT STREET, who makes his debut for the ultra-shrewd James Owen yard on a mark 8lb below that of his most recent success last summer It will certainly look significant if there is confidence behind this 4-y-o in the betting. Rusheen Boy is second choice ahead of Jacquelina, while Early Release has to be taken seriously on the back of his recent Kempton victory, for all that he’s unlikely to benefit from a soft lead this time.

On target at Lingfield before following up at Newcastle next time, PARISH COUNCILLOR appeals as the one to beat again. James Owen’s gelding must now shoulder a 5lb penalty but that should be no barrier to further success, and a return to further will do his chances no harm either Meet Me In Meraki continues to run well in defeat and is capable of being in the mix, but Zolder, who steps up in trip having kept on into third over the mile at Kempton latest, could be a bigger threat.

PARISH COUNCILLOR is yet another example of the James Owen yard’s prowess when it comes to getting the best out of new recruits, having made it 2-2 for the Newmarket handler at Newcastle last week. The return to this trip is unlikely to be an issue and he is taken to complete the hat-trick under a penalty. Meet Me In Meraki gets the nod ahead of Moonlit Cloud for forecast purposes.

CITY SELECTIONS
SUMMER HEAT struggled on her handicap bow at Leicester but she was caught wide for much of that contest and the effort might be worth forgiving. Berthed in stall two today that shouldn’t be an issue and if able to build on earlier promise shown, she looks to have a chance from her current mark. Sansanetti made it three wins from five in handicaps when on target at Lingfield latest so she merits respect raised a further 2lb, while others to note include Mandana and Suhub.
SUMMER HEAT Sansanetti
Leading course trainer (20-25): S C Williams (51 wins from 419 runners, 12%) runs SANSANETTI
Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): W Haggas (11 wins from 45 runners, 24%) runs SUHUB

Judged on her latest close fourth at Newmarket, TUESDAYS CHILD is ready to strike and she also left the strong impression on the Rowley Mile that moving back up to this trip would be just the ticket. Mandana has been knocking on the door of late and is likely to be in the thick of things once more. Sansanetti, who was successful at Lingfield last time, and the lightly-raced Suhub also enter calculations.
