Having had a month without any racing, we are delighted to welcome you back for a busy August with five fixtures.
This evening begins with a Shetland pony race, followed by seven highly competitive-looking races, which form the backdrop to our third Autism in Racing Day.
Last year’s event was a great success, which was recognised by Jo Flaherty being one of the three finalists in the Godolphin Awards. This accolade has spurred Jo and her team to make this year’s event even better, for which they have created a wonderful state-of-the-art sensory room, providing a totally immersive, interactive experience for the children.
We are incredibly proud to be able to support local children with autism and hope that they all enjoy their evening with us.
Have a lovely evening.

Timeform Rating
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

ROGER HENRY has found improvement since returning to 10 furlongs, springing a surprise at Beverley before being narrowly denied at Newcastle. A subsequent 2lb rise looks fair and he is taken to make an immediate return to the winner’s enclosure. Beautiful Crown can get involved once more after filling the runner-up spot at Haydock last month, as can the similarly consistent Charlie’s Choice, for all that he may currently be in the grip of the handicapper

Dalmally sets the form standard having finished third over 6f here on his debut in June. He will need to break alertly if he’s to negotiate stall 12, however, so it might be worth taking a chance on CHESNEYS CHARM. A creditable fourth on his racecourse bow at Leicester, the drop to 6f didn’t play to his strengths next time but it might be a different story returned to further and from his low draw Troubadour Blue is also noted.

This looks a decent opportunity for DALMALLY to build on a promising debut effort here in June. Troubadour Blue and Channagide are newcomers who could have a say, particularly if the betting speaks for them. Jack Andrea has been third on both starts and should also figure again.
The Great British Bonus (GBB) offers multiple bonuses of up to £20,000 per eligible race for British-bred fillies and mares.

METRO DUBAI struggled in the Chesham at Royal Ascot last time, but his debut second at Leicester was very encouraging. Back down in grade here, the son of Elarqam could be hard to stop on his first outing since being gelded. Green Icon is entitled to improve having gained some experience when sixth on his racecourse bow at Nottingham, while City Captain and Nebrook Dream are two newcomers to note.

GREEN ICON failed to justify favouritism on debut in a 6f Nottingham maiden but he nevertheless shaped with considerable promise, leaving the impression that he would be all the better for the experience, and benefit from the step up to this trip. The Showcasing colt is an appealing alternative to probable market leader Metro Dubai, who found just one too good on his introduction prior to finishing mid-field at Royal Ascot. Newcomers City Captain and Elmast are both fairly appealing on paper

In a trappy affair, FLY LIBERTY FLY gets a tentative vote for the in-form Marco Botti team. The daughter of Ribchester performed with credit in a warm novice event at Yarmouth and it would be no surprise if she had enough in the locker to score on her nursery debut. Top Star also looks a good prospect for handicaps and might be the main danger, although this step back to the minimum trip is an interesting move for Son Of Wind so he is respected.

TOP STAR has failed to trouble the judge in three qualifying runs but he boasts a good pedigree and may well be seen in an altogether better light now switched to a nursery, Son of Wind and Rosy Hope both took steps forward on their latest starts and are live dangers, while it will be interesting to see if support arrives for Dawn Awakening, Fly Liberty Fly and Poet’s Peace, as they all make their nursery debuts off realistic marks.

FAI FAI bounced right back to form when scoring gamely at Salisbury and, upped 3lb, he gets the vote to bring up a double. The consistent Doves Of Peace holds solid claims of at least hitting the frame off a sliding mark and Placepot players may be looking to keep him on side. La Verite’s current form leaves something to be desired, although an improved showing in the first-time cheekpieces/ tongue tie combination would come as no surprise.
