Chelmsford City Racecard - Saturday 28th October

Page 1

Evening Racing Saturday 28th October 2023

Official Programme £3.50

Welcome to Chelmsford City Racecourse This recent rain brought in by Storm Babet has wreaked havoc across the country, not only with people’s lives and their homes, but also with the racing programme. Several racecourses are flooded and the racing authorities have been desperately trying to put on extra fixtures to fill the gaps, which has resulted in being fortunate enough to pick up an extra meeting a week on Saturday, 4th November. We are thrilled to be able to offer you another fixture next week, as well as our usual Thursday evening one; particularly, one on a Saturday, so please do come along and I hope to see you on one or both of the days. Have a great evening.

Timeform Rating

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

CITY SELECTIONS Almarada Prince completed a double when landing a novice contest at Hamilton last month and merits respect in his current form, but the son of Prince Of Lir may prove vulnerable carrying a double penalty in this event. INVINCIBLE AURA finished a respectable 11th in a valuable auction race at Newmarket earlier this month and he makes plenty of appeal in these calmer waters. Eighth Army and Delicacy are others to note after displaying ability on their respective appearances. INVINCIBLE AURA

CITY SELECTIONS AGOSTINO ran better than the beaten distance on his fourth-placed finish over C&D recently after being slowly away due to the blindfold being stuck. The Robert Cowell-trained inmate has been found a suitable opportunity to get off the mark. Fletcher’s Flight makes his handicap debut off what appears to be a fair mark and is entitled to be in the mix following his Redcar victory, while others to note include Miss Gallagher and Indie Skies. CITY SELECTIONS CREME CHANTILLY accounted for her nearest rival by just over three lengths over C&D earlier in the month and she was hit with a 7lb rise for that display. The daughter of New Bay may have more to come, so she could prove difficult to beat. CITY SELECTIONS Mick’s Spirit has been frustrating recently with a third at Southwell and a nose second here last time out, but he has been put up 2lb for that and may have to settle for a place here. SO SLEEPY showed plenty of improvement to win with ease here on her latest outing and another 6lb from the handicapper may not be enough to stop the daughter of Oasis Dream from following up, leaving Wolverhampton runner-up Josies Kid as the third to consider in a tightly-matched contest.
