Evening Racing Thursday 27th October 2022 Official Programme £3.00

Welcome to Chelmsford City Racecourse

We are looking forward tonight to our usual Thursday evening at Chelmsford City Racecourse, where we have plenty of runners, which means highly competitive and exciting racing. I hope you have a fantastic evening and enjoy the racing as much as we enjoy bringing it to you.

I also want to let you know about our not-to-be-missed Day of the Dead festival this Saturday. The gates open at 2.00pm and this Clockwork Orange-produced extravaganza features music from Mark Knight, Low Steppa and Gok Wan amongst many others. You will be able to party inside the big top with the décor, lighting and performers all fully-themed, as part of this Day of the Dead production. It promises to be lots of fun and we hope that as many of you as possible dress up to join in the atmosphere of this unique event.

For more information about any of these events please visit chelmsfordcityracecourse.com or call the office on 01245 360300.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS

The BHA Handicappers

ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard

handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps

is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were

Chola Empire drops in class on his return to the all-weather, having won over this C&D on debut last October He could go well in this company and may prove the biggest danger to UNDER THE TWILIGHT, who ran with plenty of credit when third at Wolverhampton where she lost a shoe. She may make amends here from a decent draw, while the veteran Fighting Temeraire is also entitled to get involved where it matters on his second run after a break.

UNDER THE TWILIGHT: Following its run on 20/10/2022 it was reported that the horse lost a shoe.

GIVE A LITTLE BACK: Following its run on 28/7/2022 it was reported that the trainer could not explain the poor run. G’DAAY ran up to his best when third over C&D a fortnight ago and can build on that effort to record a third win of the year. The main danger looks to be Under The Twilight who wasted no time getting back to form at Wolverhampton last week, ahead of the lightly-raced Puffing who could resume her progress with blinkers now applied.
