Family Fun Day Sunday 14th August 2022 Official Programme £3.00

Welcome

Today is Family Fun Day at Chelmsford City Racecourse, so, alongside the racing, there is loads to keep the children entertained. You will be transported to a land lost before time with this Jurassic experience, where you can take a trip in the gyrosphere, walk with a Triceratops, roar with a giant T-rex, scream with a Spinosaurus and run with a raptor. You can also learn how to become a Dinosaur Ranger with life-size dinosaurs. We are delighted to be supporting the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust today. This wonderful charity provides a free, life-saving helicopter emergency medical service for the critically ill and injured of Essex, Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas. Please support them to help them continue to provide this vital service to the community. The racing this afternoon looks competitive, as you would expect, with over £125,000 on offer and the £50,000 Fairwood Fillies’ Handicap looks a fascinating contest. Good luck with finding some winners and I hope you have a great afternoon. Neil Graham Racing Director For more information on any of the events held at Chelmsford City Racecourse, please visit chelmsfordcityracecourse.com or call 01245 360300.

How to read your racecard

YOUR QUICK AT A GLANCE GUIDE ON

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. 7 PARK LANE DANCER (IRE) (11) 4 9-2 (1) Br Br g Elzaam (AUS) Greatest Dancer (IRE) (Iffraaj) Paul Hanagan J O Simon Mulvany & Partner John Quinn, Malton T B Ballyhane Stud JJ Quinn Racing Ltd S Foaled April 20 €15,000 yearling, Elzaam gelding. Traveller: FANZONE trained by Liam Bailey, Middleham, 230 miles. An extremely tough puzzle to solve kicks off the card, but a chance is taken on LORD CHERRY to run well after he was dropped 1lb for a good fourth here 12 days ago. He stayed on well that day over 7f, so the extra furlong should suit and he can go close at a nice price. Daany has been well of late and shouldn’t be far away, while Dark Design won well at Yarmouth last time and could give it another good go, despite being raised 5lb for that.

PLAY SMARTER SCHWARTZ arrives on a hat-trick and appeared to have something up his sleeve when scoring at Southwell last time, so he makes most appeal in a competitive race for the grade. Miss Blennerhasset is a likely improver up in trip and Claritudo is interesting on the back of a 2-month break.

Aramis Grey was by no means disgraced when seventh at Windsor last time out and she rates the most immediate danger, while True Jem is another to consider TIPPY TOES Aramis Grey

17 Fo ur th Ra ce PLAY SMARTER TIPPY TOES seemed to take a sizeable step forward in what was a muddling listed event at Chester a fortnight ago and, boasting an outstanding record at this track (3 wins and a very close second), Charlie & Mark Johnston’s charge looks the way to go. More severe headgear is enlisted today for Lovely Breeze so she’s put forward as the main danger, ahead of True Gem, who makes her polytrack debut. TIMESTAMP shed the maiden tag in emphatic style over C&D last time out, putting five lengths between himself and his nearest rival. The son of No Nay Never relished the step up in trip and can repeat that feat under a 6lb penalty. Shut Up And Dance is unbeaten over this trip and demands the utmost respect, while Copperplate is another to consider.

TIMESTAMP Shut Up And Dance

The combination of a gelding operation, step up in trip, tongue tie and switch to handicaps resulted in a much-improved display from TIMESTAMP when winning over C&D on Tuesday and he looks ahead of the game under a penalty. Copperplate has upped his game in blinkers of late and is the obvious threat. (IRE) 2.COPPERPLATE 3.DIZZY ED (IRE)
